  1. Where do you think I found out
  2. There is a reason of course, much harder for female keepers with the use of standard size goals. There are not many female keepers around with a similar stature to Desparate Dan. But Monkou is correct, individual skill level (for outfield players) is very high, there are many girls around who have technical ability equal to boys of similar age, despite some of the obstacles put in their way. The womens game is a "different" game in some respects, it relies more on individual skill rather then the physicality of the men's game. Would I go and watch it in preference to the men's game, no, but thats not the issue (I watched many girls league games as I was a coach for a few years). The big clubs (with the notable exception of Mid Table United) all have in-house womens teams now (Man City even had theirs parachuted into the WSL which was a disgusting treatment of Doncaster Belles), and you will find them completely integrated if you go to their web sites (look at Liverpool as an example, OK I know I said the big clubs). I think Saints, with their proud tradition in the female game should also be following this lead.
  3. What news would you be looking for. Was due back this morning as planned and looked at in training today according to RK (same as Mayuka)
  4. He will go to Napoli if/when he goes.
  5. I didn't jeer, but anyone who thinks Pelle's performance that day was anything other than woeful also deserves a slap. He was absolute pony. But I'm very glad that he has proved that initial impression wrong.
  6. Why is it incredible, we weren't even in the PL for 5 of those years? Only the 5th different saints player to win it ever (Beattie, Davies (Kev), MLT and Mickey Evans)
  7. Hugely under-rated by some on here and an unsung hero. Surely Turkish can make up a song for him then he could be a sung hero (Davis that is, not Turkish). Good news on the contract, did wonder whether he might be tempted back to Rangers once they get back to the SPL and qualify for Europe again.
  8. Didn't realise it was affiliated with Southampton Football Club. There is also St Helens RFC. I think you might have missed the point here
  9. Joel, he's actually their number 1.
  10. It really is nothing to do with people going to watch them play. Maybe these days its about the brand Southampton as much as anything. Almost all the top teams in the PL have associated women's teams in the top division (WSL, 8 teams), Liverpool, Chelsea, Man City, Everton and Arsenal). Only Manure are not represented. Is there any evidence to support this notion that we have more female supporters than other clubs?
  11. Men's or women's?
  12. The August winner was announced on 12 September. So it's due, maybe they are having difficulty deciding who the recipient should be.
  13. Look, I agree that Clyne is playing better this season, but can people stop re-writing history. Chambers started 18 league games last season (out of 38), he was often picked ahead of Clyne by Pochettino (Clyne started 24). Last season there was little to choose between Chambers and Clyne (in fact many considered Chambers to be marginally better, and given he is 3 or 4 years younger might be the better prospect). I agree its a bit daft that Hodgson did not give Clyne a start, but it really isn't that surprising and it really is not just because Chambers now plays for Arsenal. From my pov I'mglad Clyne didn't play, at least he won't be tired like little Raheem
  14. It would be nice to think that someone who bangs on about not disregarding our (past) history (is there any other sort?)... could at least...learn how to spell Markus' name
  15. And in the meantime has racked up 99 international caps. Another couple of seasons and he will probably be our most capped international ever, and yet he has been ordinary to say the least, disappointing if you're being generous, or rubbish if you are being honest. Just shows there are too many internationals these days and too many of them against rubbish opponents. how many times did Shilton or Greaves play against Andorra, San Marino or Liechtenstein?
  16. Completely stupid reply. Agree with Batman, the next few games are very important to define our season. Nothing to do with relegation, which batman didn't mention. Knob.
  17. About sums it up.
  18. I have vivid memories of him being awful. We paid 2.5m for him, he played 6 times, and was dreadful. Still we did get about 750k back eventually (500 euros and then later about 300k from Wolves) Still its his birthday today, happy birthday Jelle. Can't believe you are still playing football let alone for Belgium.
  19. Don't know. Is this a quiz? Not sure of the point of your post.
  20. That leaves approx 53 million potentially who couldn't give a monkeys (leaving aside our Scottish, Welsh and Irish friends). Problem with England vs San Marino is that 90k+ want to see a decent San Marino team as well, but we are treated to seeing 10 part-timers and one full professional. I think the Isle of Wight could have given them a decent game (we have more full -time professionals).
  21. Minor concussion banging his head trying to get through a door will put him out for a week.
  22. Perhaps he should have got Krueger to do the presentation with his motivational speaking skills.
  23. Tyrone is the son of Adie Mings who used to be associated with Saints in a coaching role (non-league player for bath and Gloucester). He was then manager/DOF of Chippenham Town until 2012, now scouting for Chelski. "Tyrone Mings joined Saints in 2001 as an eight-year-old, but was released in 2009 when the youth budget was axed". Another product of the Bath satellite academy. Have seen Adie at St Mary's occassionally (in his role of "supporter").
  24. Maybe, but then Chambers was selected ahead of Clyne many times last season for Saints as well.
  25. I was responding to Dazza82 who had missed them off Your use of Bold and caps is really irritating.
