Wasn't there a pitch inspection at 10am? If so I imagine the pitch isn't likely to be great. I think if we can defend well on set pieces we'll get the win today. Our defence hasn't looked too troubled from open play in recent weeks under Adkins.

I'm all for passing it out of defence, but instead of feeding the midfield he was trying through balls to the strikers that were always going to be intercepted and put us in trouble.

Against Mk Dons he was trying to pass the ball out of defence and gave it away in costly areas at least twice.

First half we showed potential - knocked it about well, got to the byline a few times and actually had people like Hammond busting a gut to get in the box. All of which we hadn't recently. Key man of the first half: schneiderlin concern of first half: tried playing splitting through balls from defence, dangerous. Second half we just lost all momentum, lost shape and interest and generally everyone was poor - there were no positives.

Adkins adopts a good style of football, seems more tactically aware than pardew and you can believe in what he says (pardew has had so much media training you knew he was saying all the right things for the cameras).

According to an ex player I spoke to there will be a press release explaining why pardew and his coaching staff were sacked, but not until the new manager is appointed. The details of the apparent press release seem a bit extreme and like bull**** to me - be good if things were cleared up though.

Jackson usually plays off the shoulder of the last defender so relies on good service like a good through ball - not easy getting that in a struggling side. We should provide him with plenty of chances where he can use his pace to full effect. 750k isn't bad when you consider that he has pace and time on his side to at least do a job in both league one and championship.

Most of their fans would be happy to see Bwp go - him, Fallon and Patterson (signed from ireland with a good scoring record there and in lower leagues) are their attacking options. Have got Damien Johnson and Carl Fletcher - experienced heads for this division. Most of their squad is deadwood.

According to Charlton, Sam hasn't been released, he's just not signed a new contract yet. Most Charlton fans on their forum don't rate him, also Sheffield Wednesday fans don't rate him either from his loan spell there - was poor in both games against Saints last season and any televised live game after Xmas that I saw. Agreed we could do worse but I'd much rather pay money and get Antonio who has more potential.

I think you are bigging up some of these players too much. Lloyd Sam is gash - played well for one month at the start of the season and did nothing afterwards. Ben Burgess would be Ok for backup like you say but he is hardly proflific. Brandy lower league one striker at best.

Looks like we've got off lucky with no long midweek away games. Charlton away on boxing day is a bit rubbish.
