  1. Please explain your relationship with Deppo. You are marginally more verbose and marginally less funny. I can't be arsed to see if he still has the short guy avatar thing. Anyway, not, important, just bi-curious.
  2. I apologise for not being able to abstract the murder from fun.
  3. This thread makes me think of my 'Hypocritical time and geographically based pain inuredness theory' in which we can calculate the quality of a person based on their reaction to the length of time between heinous acts and the glorification of same acts. Glad nobody's mentioned Hindley or Huntley, but that will surely happen, and maybe Sutcliffe 'supporters' will understand that this can't be a laughing matter.
  4. Get it done. I was 20 and went with my dad to the vet. Dog had cataracts, dragged herself around, very thin. I had no experience of any kind of death then, but it is in fact an uplifting experience as you see the weight lifted from their body as they 'go to sleep'. Later, I saw my mother law in law breath her last, I'm not being facetious, but it was a similar experience and I swear you can identify the moment the soul (of dog or human) departs. It seems a relief to all involved. Millions of animals and humans depart every day in gruesome circumstances, but I think it is worth witnessing the peaceful departure of one you love and you will benefit from it.
  5. Disagree - too simplistic. Many Americans are dumb, this also applies to Southampton.

    Nerves

Get absolutely caned the night before and just wing it. Now, where did I put that JSA cheque... On the other hand, if you've got a girlfriend or mum to practice your presentation to, you can be assured you will have had your most difficult presentation before you've got to the interview! And again, if you've ever listen to someone give a presentation, you can guarantee they've practiced it in front of other people, if not, they will be bad.

    Rain

    ewwwww
  8. Great thread. It so happened I moved to Winchester at the age of 12, it was pretty horrible being uprooted from Devon. Having said that I would've been a full time criminal, though well educated had I stayed there. My advice to cynical 12 year olds is: don't be cynical, don't be sarcastic; don't be judgemental; don't think you are better than people you don't know about. Do: Find out about other kids your age; ask questions; try anything; feel no fear; reinvent yourself every 3 months; put your toes in danger, know what danger is; learn to love; learn to be heartbroken; get it all out of the way - at the age of 12 your personality is in place - build it how you want it!

    Rain

Having relocated from the Pennines to Brisbane, I can confirm that rain also happens here, big style. But the beauty of it is, is that it sheds down for about 4 hours, then stops, then it's nice and dry again! The only problem is that we keep getting bills from our rented house to replace roof tiles. I have to say, if there's a better time to be in Australia than the UK, it's these 6 months until May. Then of course, you get a limp summer, with possibly one week of continuous sun, interrupted by 'variable' days/weeks. Downside is, I can't see the Saints and look forward to freezing my nuts off at Elland Road!
  10. Who's he play for?
  11. Defiitely save the son, given the rationallity and capability to make the decision. If I knew I had to die to save them both, then I'd do that. If it was the wife alone, then I'd probably have a Hamlet!
  12. What's so bad about the southern hemisphere? Is Brunei better than Borneo?
  13. Did you identify it? If not, and it was flying, then it's a UFO
  14. Had they just switched the falls off?
  15. I've posted this before, and it is less funny than the joke I just criticised. Schizophrenic murderer escapes from Jail. Police warn he's a disparate man.
  16. Least funny joke so far. However, have been impressed by others on this thread. Let's make comedy heaven for November!!
  17. I often used to fantasise about being in a waking coma, but 23 years is a bit too long.
  18. Are you obliged to comment on all Penguin related threads?
  19. I don't know why those 'taken in' by this thread need be upset. The type of person who had these experiences is probably still around, and there's been some interesting stories to read. So, probably not posted for the right reasons, but the right result has come out - we can now suggest the club goes and tracks down any 75+ year old supporter and give them a freebie of some sort. (thinking about it, my dad is 73 nearly and goes pretty often to midlands games with his mate of the same age, so 'Old Codger' probably does represent a significant number of people). Also if it is Fitzhugh who does the book thing, there seems to be material here for supporters memories over the years - call it 'The Old Codger'!!
  20. I'm staggered they managed to 'rebuild' the dog. Can't really get that worked up about it though, as there must be millions of hours of footage of human on human violence around which we fortunately don't get to see. If we did, would we worry about a dog?
  21. I've done some research into this for you Hamster and I've discovered the best resource is either Mercury (of the Roman persuasion) or Hades of the Greek lot. My research also indicates Mammon will be a beneficial resource, but unfortunately I've run out of time to get more info. Let us know how you get on, as I'm sure we're all keen to get the pension related advice of omnipotent super beings.
  22. Gigersaint, are you doing a twitter feed on your no banger lunch? Will we get a report on here? After finding out about the result yesterday, it's all I've got left to look forward to.
  23. For all the lameness of the PFC 'Legends' tour, I think we should reflect for a moment on the equally lame fun days etc we mounted just prior to being pulled back from the precipice. Reflect, then, well, laugh a little bit!
  24. One of few downsides to the fall of the Berlin wall was the re-emergence of German Poodle rockers The Scorpions and with it the potential revitalisation of the career of Whitesnake, Twisted Sister, Motley Crue and scores of other purveyors of bad rock and stomach churningly awful power ballads. Fortunately, like nuclear war the threat passed. However, also like nuclear war, there is always a danger from a new source - please scan the web for signs of latex and star shaped axe guitars in Korea and Iran.
