  1. Makes Anchorman - "the bad man punted Baxter" - seem like a horrible snuff movie now...
  2. She has thighs that could crack a Brazil Nut open, a nose that could replace the Eiffel Tower if anything happened to it, and a vagina as round as a camel's hump. She's got limited sex appeal, can't write lyrics to save her life, and most definitely should not be wearing skimpy outfits. She looks like a man. All in all, I think you know my answer. Tap.
  3. I had to work yesterday, but from the sounds of it, the performance could've been better defensively. That said, had we won against Brighton, a draw in this match would've been a good result. It's a funny old game...
  4. Right, I think the best way to approach todays match is to concentrate on the areas we were poor in last Sunday. Defensively dire. Thomas should've started the game, he's not the greatest footballer ever to grace League One, but he doesn't fanny around on the ball. No-nonsense. I'd partner him with Jaidi and have Trots on the bench, no player is un-droppable and after last week, it'll give Trotman the chance to reflect on what a poor performance can result in. I'd personally also bring back the 4-5-1, I like Connolly but I still think he's a super-sub for the time being rather than a run everywhere for 90 minutes man. Waigo must take part in the game, up against the Doc he'd urinate all over him. Doherty is their weak link IMO and Lambert must exploit it. I don't for a second think our performance will be as bad as last week, Pardew will see to that, but I do think that while we should win games like this to progress, I'd be happy with a draw. An entertaining one though please! With my missus being a Norwich fan, these games bring untold worry and strife in my household, if we win, she won't talk to me for ages (COME ON SAINTS!!!), if we lose I'll be ridiculed at least until we triumph in the JPT. All told, it'll be 2-2.
  5. A case of the defence not being good enough perhaps. Harding is good on the left, but defensively we're weak on the right *****il Murty comes back). Jaidi is a good player, but you have to look at his age, and he needs to be paired with someone quicker in the centre of defence. Thomas, Perry and Trotman don't fulfil these requirements. In addition, the few times I've seen Morgan this season, I've not been impressed. We're practically a midfielder light because of it. Wotton may be the figure of fun on here, but defensively could he protect the back 4? I don't think we'll keep a clean sheet against Norwich, but keeping it to 1 or 2 goals and we could scrape a draw, which is my prediction for this weekend.
  6. Don't need him, and I hope Pardew is smart enough to realise this. Harding has been my MOTM for the last couple of games, he works his butt off and is possibly the best left back we could have at this level. Add to that Mills as cover and I don't see why we're trying to strengthen a position that doesn't need strengthening. With Antonio, Trotman and Mellis no more than just loans, surely one of their positions will need strengthing in January/Summer.
  7. I agree but not Lallana. We need a left footer in the left midfield spot. Harding and Mills are both good defenders and competent going forwards - I don't see why they can't work together. I'd move Lallana elsewhere and try Mills and Harding on the left, I'm almost certain Mills would track back.
  8. I don't think we will lose against Norwich but it is still a very real possibility. Our problems stem from having an unorganised team at the start of the season. Trotman, Jaidi, Hammond, Lambert, Antonio, Mellis were all new recruits either just before or after the season kicked off - they had to be just thrust into the action. Following the Bristol Rovers game, which we were mightily unlucky to lose, we had a sustained unbeaten period which was partly due to having a settled squad. We won't go down this season - I'd cut off my own testicles in public if we do - and there's still ages to go until the end of the season. As for players leaving, well I sincerely hope they can see that the rebuilding process is a lengthy one, and not a case of instant miracles. The board has given us two seasons to get back into the Championship - and I think if we don't scrape into the play-offs this season, then we'll accomplish it next season.
  9. I saw it the opposite. Harding was working so gard for the team last night, you could see it in his little red face, the sweat dropping off him. I wasn't suprised when he was subbed, not because he was poor but because he had no energy left trying to play as a left back AND a centre back. James didn't do badly, he was quite good going forward, but there are still questions over his defensive play. It's not suprising really, when he's a midfielder, but to be fair to him, Gary Neville in his prime could've been our right back last night and would've had a poor game - that's the Centre backs fault.
  10. Ithink it must be down to form. Mellis's dipped, Antonios rocketed. I would start Mellis against Norwich in place of Morgan (in fact after yesterday's performance, I would start anyone in Morgan's place.)
  11. For me, it's any player we're still talking about long after he's gone (for the right reasons, not the Ali Dia reasons.) People on here still talk about Chris Marsden Football Genius, and that means he was doing something right. Any player that comes in and works his nuts off for us, states his love for the club and is a success can become a legend. Benali wasn't the most accomplished of defenders but always gave 100%, and thus is remembered fondly by us. I think players that start out with us and do well find it easier to become legends, because they become a product of our youth team. Had Walcott or Bale stayed, even for another couple of seasons, then they could have written themselves into Saints folklore.
  12. Even a loss against Norwich wouldn't be time to panic - so long as we put in a better performance than last nights. Especially defensively, I'd keep faith with Jaidi but maybe start Thomas in Trotmans place, to try and solidify it a bit.

    Antonio

I hear he honed his long throw skills at Reading. Their strikers kept hoofing the balls out of the Madejski, and he had to throw them back. The Sky peeps picked up on this, but a long throw is only good if you do something with it. By God he's quick though I did think he tried the same trick far too often. His first touch was lacking.
  14. If someone had told me after the Bristol Rovers defeat we'd go unbeaten in ages and then lose to Brighton, I'd have taken it with bells on. It's performances like this that will encourage Pardew to go out and shop around in the transfer window. Looking forward to it.
  15. We're definitely in the top 20. That's the most important thing this season.
  16. Colchester and Bristol Rovers are one of the better teams in this league, and when we played Brentford we were a new team learning. No excuses for tonight, we were urine, but by the end of the season I still feel we will have more goods than bads.
  17. The irony is that whilst taking my time to write this, every one else on here shares the same views!
  18. A blip today, hopefully nothing more. Harding was stand out once again for me, but Jaidi and Trotman weren't great today. Was quite suprised to see Thomas dropped, he had a good game on Wednesday. Trotman is probably the better defender on paper, but if a player plays well, it's strange to see him dropped. I'm still not sure about Morgan in midfield. Too often we move the ball out wide - I still think we lack a central midfielder with a killer pass to the strikers. The ratings as I saw it: Davis - The captain question once again rears it's head, but without Davis as a keeper we'd have been down by a couple more. Still could have been better placed for the first goal IMO. Was the 2nd best keeper on the night. 6 James - Put in some good crosses going forward but set piece delivery wasn't too good. I thought he was poor defensively tonight. 5 Jaidi - One of my favourite players but was poor tonight. He's a good defender but his lack of skill on the ball showed tonight. 5 Trotman - Was very poor in the first half, I wasn't actually that suprised to see him subbed. 5 Harding - Best player again for Saints IMO. Worked his nuts off both defensively and going forward. He gives 110% and was always looking to use the ball well. Could see danger coming. 8 Antonio - Very good in the first half, faded in the second half. Long throws are an asset, seemed like he was trying to pull the same trick though with the "knock it past the defender and run after it" trick. Was suprised not to see him subbed sooner, but still was one of our better players. 7 Lallana - Proving to be one of our best players, didn't have the best of nights though - penalty decision was iffy. 7 Hammond - Was still the engine but was beaten to the ball a lot. Didn't help that there were a lot of poor performances on the night, and he was making his first appearance for us against his former club (though Harding got all the boos) 6 Morgan - Still not convinced about him. Seems competent but looks for passes sideways more than forward. Could Wotton be worth a go? 5 Lambert - Was a lot of hustle but not the best game I've seen him play. Good penalty, I never get nervous when he's taking them.6 Connolly - No doubting he's class but wasn't even in the game. 90 minutes? He's going to be ****ged out next week. I'd like to see us either go back to 4-5-1 and use him as a super sub or rest him for games like the JPT. 6 Waigo - was bright when he came on but should've scored. I'd start him in the next game, try him on the left and move Lallana into Morgan's slot, but then I'm not the manager! 7 Thomas - I can see why AP chose Trotman, but still think Thomas should've started. Was the better of the 3 CB's on the night IMO, but still not great. 6. Mills - Hardly touched the ball, but Harding needed a break. 5 I do think this was a one off, but we'll see. The escape from relegation will have to wait.
  19. 2nded. I think it's all very well considering the JPT as a minor competition, but there is still a trophy and potential day out at the end of it. Today was a big wake up call, it taught the players that they're not invincible, which is key.
  20. Even Man Utd and Chelsea lose at times. I wouldn't read too much into defeat today. Yes we were poor defensively, but if we pick ourselves up and win the next game, it will all be forgotten.

  22. I think we're perfectly fine in the keeper department. It has to be a striker - Pahars was the first to spring to mind from my generation.
  23. Whoop whoop I managed to switch my shift at work today, which means that while I had to get up at silly o clock this morning, I now finish in time to bomb it over to my folks, kick them off the TV from whatever they were watching (Last of the SUmmer Wine or some such guff), and watch it. Come on lads, make it worth it!

    Lallana's Future

Put simply, if he goes in January or in he summer it will be too soon. He still has developing to do. We relied on him far too heavily last season when he wasn't ready for it, and yet this season, with a stronger team, he seems to have found his current level. He will get better, he will be Premiership quality, but not yet. If our aspirations match his, then there's no reason why he can't stay and be a Saints legend. Promotion in the next two seasons is out target - it should be his too. Based on recent years we've become all too used to seeing our best talent go, almost accustomed to it. I just hope that with the new set up we can keep the likes of Lallana, Morgan and James and move on up with them as the catalyst.
