  1. Heath and Ibrahimovic stand out. One more for me - the 97th minute equaliser at Arsenal in 88 (Glen’s broken jaw etc) which would have been our 4th won out of 4 games (and ultimately won the title for arsenal).
  2. I was also thinking about our woeful transfer record in recent years. Found this helpful website. https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/fc-southampton/alletransfers/verein/180 I was asking myself the last signing that was an obvious upgrade on what we had the previous season. Maybe VVD?
  3. 10 years ago today - 2nd bottom of league 1. 5 years ago today. 2nd in the premiership with 11 wins in last 12 games.
  4. Actually, did anyone else notice on MOTD, when they did the 5 second “coming up later” footage for our match, they actually showed us having a shot! Someone was laughing a laugh.
  5. Call me a glutton for punishment, but I’ve been looking forward to finding out what Adam and Dave made of Friday’s performance on the usual SFC website match highlights package. For some reason, they still haven’t managed to post it up. Bit late isn’t it?
  6. Easier could still be very difficult, given they are being so massively overpaid for their talent level.
  7. Really think we need to avoid the drop for a season or two: 6. Wesley Hoedt - 2022 11. Mohamed Elyounoussi – 2023 18. Mario Lemina – 2022 25. Guido Carrillo – 2021 44. Fraser Forster – 2022
  8. This I watched the VHS recording of the highlights so often in my youth, I still know what Brian Moore is about to say throughout the commentary. Great game obviously. Did Matt score a better header?
  9. Think I have a VHS video in the attic about the proposed sight at stoneham. Early 90s I think. 25k. Near miss.
  10. I think we should get this on one of those huge posters outstanding de the ground.
  11. Looking forward to being level on points with Man City on Friday night.
  12. I guess it would have been when Steve Moran injures his back putting him out for the rest of the season? (iirc)
  13. I have a vague recollection that Milos Drizic even had the two-page new signing treatment in the Programme, before not getting a work permit. Was it Neil Ruddock we got in the end? Whatever happened to him....
  14. Ah - me and my son spent about 5 mins trying to spot it. We are right at the very start with two other clubs. They then do a big thing on the two others in the next shot but that’s it for little old saints.
  15. I was thinking, at least Carrillo didn’t physically attack our captain causing him to miss matches and grab the balls of someone on the Newcastle bench (or something like that).
  16. Obviously a far worse footballer but was he really a worse buy than Osvaldo? Very sad he has any competition for the worst buy tag!
  17. Same for me - always get one but has been stupidly difficult to find for the first two games No-one selling outside anymore or inside - so need to join the huge food queued Queued up once at food place to be told sold out - try the other side Mate had queued up at the other side and was told the same thing - or to come back during the game as they might get some more. Far too much trouble.
  18. Why were united fans on the train to Manchester? Were there no direct trains to devon/Hertfordshire etc?
  19. Anyone else spot that on the official draw programme on Sky, there was not the slightest acknowledgement that this was a tie of any note. Even though they were struggling to fill time there was no mention from either of the pundits pulling out the balls or the anchor-totty.
  20. Not sure if it’s been mentioned elsewhere but on the red card tackle, the replay shown on MOTD captures a Brighton team mate grimacing at the awfulness of the tackle. Quite unusual to see such a natural reaction for a foul by your own side.
  21. Isn’t that because the basic rate relief goes direct to the charity? When I did the maths a few years ago I’m sure all the tax was effectively repaid by the government - some back to me (the difference between your marginal and basic) and some to the charity (basic rate).
  22. Seems completely reasonable to me. What a very strange reaction. Enjoyed the use of the word “grassing”. Haven’t heard that since I was at primary school.
  23. Amen to this.
  24. Not followed this but surely as a minimum they’ll reform a few leagues down. There may even be a stadium available in Bolton they can play in. In reality, from Aldershot to Wimbledon, football clubs are much more robust than the narrow legal entity.
