Can't disagree with any of this JS. I wonder how many of us thought, whilst we were all smirking at the now infamous 'Botch Job of Bournemouth' - that in a couple of years we would be praying for the same said person to come to our aid? Not many methinks..!
-
So which one is it then - good source or rumours...???
-
Nick - surely if they don't want a name to get out then they should just sssshhhhhhhush until the deal is done eh? Like I said - do business professionally. BTW - It's not Rod Stewart as posted on (yet) another ITK thread this morning is it...?
-
But have they Nick - where is the evidence that this deal is coming with further investment for the club. I'm not knocking MJ's ambition and purpose, but I really do find it incredible that from a starting lot of 35 odd bids - this is where we are now. And it doesn't appear that there are any other real bids about. You cannot blame people for judging MJ. He has history, (as we all do) here on this board, and it is a simple as that. He will be judged on that history - it's human nature unfortunately. I judge everybody here by what they write. Alps, TDD, Stanley, Dalek the whole lot of them. Yes I am happy that we, hopefully, will be saved - but my thoughts and wishes for MJ (as posted elsewhere) remain extant.

Exactley - if your business acumen and plan is not strong enough to hold up under a little scrutiny and critisism from a handful of customers (based on your past performance as well) then you really are in the wrong job. You really shouldn't be conducting any of your business here anyway - and personally I don't believe that certain people have been able to contain themselves and stay away. Pretty unprofessional give recent events. Most corporate companies come in for critisism from a proportion of their customers - it goes with the territory and is something that you have to deal with in a professional manner. Running away from a deal because of a few misplaced quotes and comments on an internet forum is hardly indicative of professional, ambitious and driven business people.
-
I'm with you - and my cynicism remains. Although I think it is all meant in good faith, I really cannot bring myself to believe that we have not attracted the 'quality' of buyer that many on here said that we would have little trouble in courting. Now we are left with a 'Photocopier Salesman / Business Strategist' to hopefully try to bail us out - even if they do manage to do a deal, I seriously worry about the short term (never mind the long term) investment and running of the club.
-
Without wishing to be rude, but can I just ask you how old you are please..?
-
Have a think about it mate - a good source - right, so how many other 'gems' has your 'good source' fed you lately? How many of them were true? Ok near the mark then? Err tell you what - had even an inkling of truth (or sence) about them? Stuff his employment - with rubbish like this he deserves to be sacked. Why not just name and shame him and then let us decide on the validity (or otherwise) of these highly unlikely claims eh?

Holy shyte...

Problem is that these are the people that are allegedly trying to buy the club...!!! To say this is whole sorry saga is fast decending into farce would be an almighty understatement. Either we find ourselves a creditable buyer and new owner in the next couple of days or else I fear we face many more years of decline.

If you want to see something that is an embarrasment to SFC - take a look in the mirror. No matter which side of the fence you sit with regard to Rupert Lowe, the bottom line is that everybody is a fan of SFC, and ultimately wants success for the club. For you to label them as an embarrasment is somewhat shortsighted really - they hold a different POV to you - nothing more. Still - why not jump on the Luvvie bandwagon - it's easy, you don't have to think too much so you should fit right in.
-
Even Rupert Lowe..?
-
Exactly my thoughts too - this is the reason that I am so against 'Legends' managing teams. Newcastle got desperate and went for the 'fairytale' appointment as opposed to the 'business sense' appointment (or sticking with SA as it happens). It's failed and now the latest club hero finds himself the man that took them down - sad time for them.
-
I sympathise - let's hope that this time next year there is still a club to support and your kids are leaving SMS with smiles on their faces - that is what all fans want to experience anyway.
-
I find this quite bizarre really - and I'm not getting at you. But last season and the season before people on this site moaned and moaned about anything and everything to do with the club. The players, the manager, the tactics, the board, the picture - everything. Many welcomed administration and couldn't wait for it to happen. Now it has happened, and there is a very real possibiltiy that there wont be a club next season, most fans appear willing to accept anything, anything at all just so long as there is something left to support. If we somehow manage to scrape out of this hell hole - it will be interesting to see if the grass is any greener (npi) on the other side.
-
To be honest I actually never thought that I would see the day that we come to this. But come to this we have - and many people on here advocated administration, believing there would be a queue of super rich people all waiting to snap us up. The early signs actually bore them out - what was it 35 plus intersted parties. But actually now, when we have to cut to the chase, what is there, nothing, zilch, naff all - there appears to be only LLS. Therefore much as I hate the prospect of what this might bring - I have to wish him all the best and hope that he comes through. To answer some of your points though - during the Bournemouth thing there was mention there of a 'post' - memory fades but I do actually think manager or assistant manager was mentioned - which or course is a little scarey. Like you - I too have also noted that MLT appears quiet at the moment - I fear that Pinnacle have fallen by the wayside and that Matt maybe ready to just play ambassador to any parties that he feels can do the deal. Where all of this leaves us - god only knows - dont you long for the good old days when you could sprout lines like 'The futures bright the futures Red n White'. Right now the future - if we have one - appears pretty damn bleak from where I'm sitting.
-
To be fair - you have to have had the full MJ experience to really appreciate why many of us are very sceptical (and worried) about what might transpire. Mr Jackson (or as known on here, LifeLongSaint) posted many many, how shall I say, errr colourful posts during his time on the forum. They ranged from all manner of things, including the now infamous 'Blueprint for Success' which featured, bridges, boats, MLS and David Beckham of all people. He then went on to forge his AFCB connections, and attempted to put a team together to save them - but unfortunately his successful bid lasted less than 24 hours I think. He then gave the TV interview that you have obviously seen, and the whole debacle descended into further chaos when he then decided to try to reason (argue) with the Cherries fans on their message board. I believe that in the end that was also monitored for legal reasons as well. So as you can appreciate - we posters that have experienced the full MJ experience have our doubts - and rightly so. People keep saying that we are jumping on his back and forming opinions on him. Yes we are - I form opinions on everybody on this forum - and it is based on what they post, because that is all I have got to go on - I do not know any of you. So as I have posted elsewhere, based on what I have see of MJ on here - I really wish him success as a middle man - but no more. Do your stuff, don't get in the way and f u c k off when the job is done. Personally though - I also have severe reservations about all this now. We have two pretty much respected posters sniping each other now. One is obviously in MJ's bed the other doesn't rate him at all - when the so called 'smart men' get that divided - then there has to be something wrong somewhere. FWIW I'm still praying for that much quoted (but never seen) 'oversees bid' to come in on the rails with a late push, but much as we all want the filly I think we are going to have to be happy with the donkey.
-
It's dangerous stuff mate - you don't want your kids messing about with that stuff - stay safe and away from explosives.
-
I take it that More and More are 2 deaf, dumb and blind guys - no...???
-
Ahhh we have some sleuths amongst us. Strangely, I too think that some here are not who they appear, and suspect that somebody close to the action has been posting. Should be interesting to see what transpires.
-
The negativity is borne by events surrounding the horrendous (public) mess when he was connected with the AFCB debacle - and as many have stated was justifiably warranted. The positivity probably stems from the fact that we are now so desperate for somebody (anybody) to buy us, we are grateful for his efforts. That said - I am totally unconvinced that he should be anything but a middleman - if he succeeds he should take the plaudits and any payoff, enjoy his 15 minutes of fame, stick his fingers up at those doubters that previously mocked him - and walk away. As FC has stated elsewhere - there were notions mooted that he had aspirations of an 'active' role at AFCB, and this is the part of the equation that worries me now. MJ may well be a very good facilitator, but I remain unconvinced that he really has the right skills for delivering a successful strategic plan for a professional football club. MJ is wearing his heart on his sleeve and busting a gut to do something to save the club - I only hope that it is done in good faith and he knows when to take a bow and say 'Thank you & good night'.

My that made me lol...

In the current economic climate nobody is going to give anybody the 'sympathy vote'. Live and work beyond your means at your peril - the banks do not give one iota. As Dave Whelan has been saying for some time - a big club (he intimated that if could be a Premier League club) could very well take a big fall and cease to exist. Who knows - it could be us...!!! We won't survive by virtue of a sympathy vote in the cut throat business world of professional football - no way.
-
I don't think that we will go under, but neither do I think that we are going to get the 'big bucks buyer'. I think things will get worse before they start to get better as well. The question is do the fans have the patience to stay with the team?
