Absolute bargain that. The sort of player we need. Can’t believe we weren’t interested.

People forget that we’ve got world class Goalkeeping coach Dave Watson to get the best out of Hart. Look at what he’s down for Alex McCarthy. In 19 games Turned him from a figure of fun to the new Peter Shilton.

One of my funniest memories was Swindon away that season. It was about our 3rd or 4th game. We took about 3,500 filled the away end, lost 1-0 and were absolutely dreadful. I came away thinking we might actually be relegated again in L2. I remember the whole away end almost laughing at how sh*te we were and everyone singing make a sub at pardew doing the gesture physios make to the bench when a player is Injured

83/84. Must have been amazing for those old enough to have been there. The win at Fratton Park, 2nd place in the league, heartbreak at Highbury. I was only a kid but that was the season I got into football and with saints challenging for trophies with a great team i thought it’s always be like that....... 89/90 for me is the best one in my real memory though. A brilliant attacking team scoring loads of goals. le Tissier, Rod Wallace and Shearer up front with Rideout at times playing 4-2-4. We seemed to score 4 goals regularly then. 4-1 win v Liverpool the highlight, Le Tissiers hatrick in the 4-1 v Norwich was special.

I can only imagine the scenes at the first meeting as the there elected saints voice members passionately debate the best position for club branded mugs in the mega store with the club representatives.

It’s got better. I really struggled to follow England when it contained the likes of Terry, Ferdinand, lampard, Cole etc many of which admitted later on that they let other factors influence their performances for England, it’s almost like it wasn’t obvious. But I do agree with Griffo that it’s odd anyone who isn’t bothered by the World Cup. I can only ever remember one occasion when I’ve not been bothered by an England loss, that was when Italy knocked us out on penalties a few years back. We’d some how managed to keep the score to 0-0 despite them absolutely murdering us, we were so outclassed it would have been embarrassing to win on pens. I like gareth Southgate a lot, see him a lot in my local gym. He’s a great guy and deserves some success. He’s at least made up play a more modern game unlike the Hodgson inspire dross before him. The players now seem to care for England as well. I’d take saints winning anything over England any day but still find it wierd any football fan who says they don’t care, friendlies perhaps but the big tournaments, seriously?

Forget the squad. Your biggest challenge this tournament is to stop your son logging onto your lap top posting on here pretending you be you when you nip to the kitchen for another multi pack of monster munch sunshine.

In surprised no one has mentioned the arrest and jailing of Tommy Robinson. Whatever you might think of him as an individual what do all you lovely people make of a man being jailed for reporting on the rape of young girls by grooming gangs?

Jealousy mate. If you’re ITK they hate it. They don’t like anyone who knows more than them, they’re desperate to shoot you down. This place is like a pack of hyenas, they’ve driven many other ITKs off here. Don’t let them win mate some of us appreciate your posts and snippets you provide. We aren’t all bitter and jealous.äll

https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/liverpool-supporters-union-spirit-shankly-12521110 “European cup finals are special, we remember them by name of the city they are in and the stand out things that happened. Istanbul and the comeback, Paris and Barneys chip, Rome and Bruce’s spaghetti legs, Brussels and the disgraceful behaviour of our fans which directly led to the death of innocent Italians” Oh wait they didn’t mention the last one. It’s like it never happened. Even if it did it wasn’t their fault anyway, it was the police, the stadium, the authorities, the BNP! How anyone can ever support that vile club and it’s vile fans in any game is beyond me.

Maybe it doesn't have a bottomless pit and some players will go. But I fail to believe a club that has racked in a profit from transfers for the last 4 seasons, has had record income from TV money and only 4 months ago sold a player for a world record fee, whilst recording tens of millions of pounds of profit last accounts hasn't got a least a few quid to spend without having to sell first. You say the van Dijk money sent just sitting in the bank, there are instalment payments, agents fees, managers to pay up, running costs etc, but guess what? Every other club has those as well. Every club pays transfer fees in installments, why are we any different? I simply dont buy this BS any more, you can only blame Corteses over spending for so long. We recorded huge profits last year whilst the club got away with relegation. They seriously need to back Hughes or whoever comes in, the squad needs and injection of quality and experience and I don't believe the money isn't there to do it, maybe the desire is though.

This ain’t what you used to say. You used to say we were the most attractive club for anyone outside of the top 4 back in our league one days! I remember when you would argue until the cows come home that we were a bigger club than Everton with more match going fans, that very soon we’d be playing with a team full of superstars mixed with academy graduates in our newly expanded 50,000 capacity stadium And anyone who said other had, what was it again? Oh that’s it, such a Dell sized mentality Matthew!

The Les Reed Colesum with Britannia Road renamed Kruger Way leading up to a A statue of Les like Christ the redeemer, arms outstretched looking over his empire.

They were right to keep him on, it was a different time then, we played good football and you always felt it would turn around. Despite the poor form I don't remember many fans wanting Nicholl sacked. The following season was one of the best attacking teams I've ever seen. 4-2-4 at times, Le Tissier, Rideout, shearer and Wallace up front running rings round the the opposition. We scored 3 or more goals on numerous occasions. It was the season after when fans started to turn on him after we failed to live up to the 89/90 season heights. Then we hired Branfoot, be careful what you wish for.

Good interview. Refreshingly waffleless from Ralph apart from his weird championship type winning feeling comment. Good he didn't make excuses, mistakes made, also intimated Pellegrino wasn't up to it without saying as much. Good questions from Blackmore, really rate him, asked a lot of questions and made points fans have been saying for a while.

Someone on the TUI described the premier league as a division of 6 Harlem Globertrotters and 14 Washington Generals. Ie 14 lambs to the slaughter for benefit of the global TV audience, which I thought was a pretty bang on assessment. So this season? Will it be 7th, 15th or 17th or 20th? Either way and despite what mental, pedantic Matthew says, the league below the top 6 is poor. We should just be the stooges for the top 6 and if anyone does try to stop them doing their tricks then prepare to be patronised by Crooks, Murphy, Redknapp etc for having the audacity to stand up to them.

Les is so incompetent he couldn't get us relegated when we looked certain for it a few weeks ago.

He lives near me and see him in the gym regularly. His lad was in there the other day getting changed after swimming and was wearing a saints top. He's a top bloke is david Prutton, always has a chat and very fond of saints. Gareth Southgate also goes there and he's a lovely fella too. Always chats to my lad when he seems him, he's only 5 and doesn't really understand what it means to be the England manager except he should play for England because he's the fastest and can beat Ruben and Henry and Lightning McQueen

Relegated Teams - Players who would you buy from their Squads?
Turkish replied to le_tiss's topic in The Saints
Exactly.we've got three of those already. -
Some people still appreciate him
-
Sad day really. End of an era. We will never see the likes of him and ferguson again. It went a bit sour for him at the end but he's been a great manager and produced one of the greatest sides we've ever seen.

Make of this what you will
