  1. If there is one thing we have learnt on this incredible journey it's that managers come and go but the relentless pursuit of exercise shows no sign of abating. Th club has a clear strategy and this has given previous and current manager an excellent platform to work on. The year on year progression has continued regardless of players, management, scouts, coaches even chairman. The consistent figure and catalyst of our success is one man, step forward Les Reed, fast becoming the new Ted Bates.
  2. Joey Barton said Everton should go for him on talksport earlier. So the "chatter" he is on about is one Bellend talking nonsense on the radio. Still give Charlie another chance to peddle his agenda.
  3. True, if he didn't have them on and he walked around with his head up people might think he was trying to give them a blow job.
  4. Is Cortese going to make a show? Perhaps he'll come along to be chairman of the promotion team, given that without him there wouldn't have been a promotion team. What with him leaving Saints on good terms with his head held high I'm sure he'd love to come and see his old friends and colleagues, not to mention to be able to say a proper goodbye to the fans.
  5. If it's "sensible commentary" or "constructive debating" you're after I'd suggest that this isn't the place for you pal.
  6. I'd say this is more apt
  7. The problem is We're never quite sure if it's you posting or your son racing round the desk to login as you when you pop downstairs for a sugar top up. Don't you like your nickname though? I'm quite proud of the Troll fro lim the Tyrol. If you were a wrestler (sumo) it'd be fantastic. "In the red corner, weighing in at 320 ibs, the Troll from the Tyrol, it's alpine Saint"
  8. And if we had finished second the troll from The Tyrol would be on here whining that we bottled the league, we'll never win anything etc. But at least we've come a long way since his "we don't belong in the premier league" days.
  9. Something about les Reed not being able to convince players stay
  10. That's what literally hundreds of people on here said about a club like saints ever making the champions league without Man city type investment!!
  11. I would do but For legal reasons I cannot FURNISH this forum with any further information on the subject,
  12. It wasn't just about results on the pitch though CB fried (lol). Cortese was a great guy off it which is why he was loved so much. There is plenty of evidence of that as well. Take sponsorship of the club shirts, most chairman see this as a way of maximising revenue, getting he best deal possible. Not our wonderful ex leader, he'd let local business sponsor their local team for a fraction of the going rate for a premier league clubs main sponsor. He kindly settled out of court on numerous occasions so small business didn't have to endure the stress of a court hearing and potentially incuring legal costs, even though he was Never wrong. He was a great man manager as well, by openly dismissing the achievments of former players so that the current ones didn't feel the shadow of them looming over them potentially effecting their own performance. He cared about everyone, even the away fans, using the away fund to make visiting Supporters have a fresh and clown evironment to enjoy their visit. A great gesture. Even little things like the car park barriers at the club wishing you to "have a nice day" after you'd inserted your ticket into the machine to leave having just paid a small fee for the honour of visiting his workplace. These things are evidence that not only was the most driven and ambitious chairman football have ever seen he had a very human side and was also a great guy.

You gotta love the helmetry on here. Brilliant reading that despite over the last 7 years not recalling a single person ever saying saints could never make the champions league it's become FACT that many people did state this. Even Jamie/Brett is at despite spending the last 20,000 posts writing off our chances of ever achieving anything of the levels of his fantasy clubs Such as Stoke/Everton/Watford and so on. The fact that Leicester have achieved what has been dubbed in some quarters as the greatest sporting fairy tale of all time means that now this is the norm and anyone can do it. In a season which many have said we have never seen before or will again. A season where all the big clubs have hugely underachieved at the same time as all their stars have aligned at once. Still in the greatest sporting fairly tale of all time and being the first club outside of the top 5 or 6 big boys make the champions league in the last 30 years means all those that said saints couldn't do it were wrong. But hey, we still haven't done it and no one ever said we couldn't. Well done though.
  14. Whilst we might all have an ideal of what good football looks like unfortunately this isn't reflected in the stands during matches. St Mary's is still dominated by the "get rid of if" brigade who don't like all the fanny about on the ball. They need to "run Tadic/Pelle/Mane/ward prowse (delete as appropriate) you lazy useless c*nt" they want 4-4-2 with pacy widemen, centre backs who don't try and play from the back they "get it foooooooorwarrrrd" to the big man up top who flicks it down to the little 'en. Should the ball somehow end up in midfield we need a ball winning midfielder who "gets stuck in" it might be good but it's what people want
  15. I like this thinking. Whilst we're at it Frazer Forster can jump high and kick it hard, maybe we could play him up front? Rodriguez has lost a bit of pace but his reading of the game is good as he'll know where opposition players will pass the ball and where strikers will want it so he could use these skills to intercept attacks and make tackles replacing Virgil van dijk at centre back. We should also sign Jonno quick back to play alongside him, he's so fast he could run onto the end of his own clearances so he'd never be offside making him perfect to a Leicester style counter attacking game next season.
  16. It's a good job no one takes any notice of the utter helmets on here isn't it pal.
  17. You're obsessed pal.
  18. Isn't it time to move on? I love the stories I love watching the goal and Whilst it's the greatest thing to happen to our club it's also quite tin pot to celebrate what is effectly a reminder to everyone how unsuccessful we've been for a club of our size. 40 years isn't even a particularly big landmark, 25 years I get, 50 too but 40? Just strikes me as very small time and the constant it's x number of years since we one the fa cup quite tedious. Time to move on and change the mindset.
  19. Behave Adrian, Koemans autobiography will be called "Ronald a plumbers tale" the amount of players he's tapped up. You think Forster and David Watson never spoke before he joined us? It goes on all the time yet when it happens against us its disgusting behaviour from arrogant p*icks. When it works in our favour them its great news that we've got people well respected in the game that can promote the club to prospective signings.
  20. I don't recall us wishing we were palace so your point here is Irelevant. If you'd spent th first half the season wishing we were them after they showed ambition that we lack when they signed Connor Wickham you might have a case Brett. Bet yes, 13th and a cup final, brilliant. Everton, 11th and losing semi finalists not so much, especially given they they're a team you wish we were. Come on Brett show some ambition, is that the best you dream of for us!
  21. Remember when we wished we were Everton/Stoke/Watford? They had Ambition by the bucket load, something we never had. They didn't sell their best players every summer. They kept on progressing. Oh how I wish we were like them. Why oh why can't we be like them?
  22. Can you imagine the meltdown if we sell Mane and replace Him with a £500k signing from the French second division? The "you can't expect to sell your best players and replace them with cheap imports" brigade will be in their absolute element. We'd be wishing we were a whole host of other clubs who do show ambition, like Watford. It'd be absolutely hilarious.
  23. How much are we selling him for?
  24. Do we still wish we were Everton/Stoke/Watford?
  25. Shane long, when he plays well we win. Up until about 3 months ago he was our Ian Rush, in that whenever he scored we never lost. Unfortunately that record has gone now but he remains a talismanic figure. A real beacon of #theSouthamptonway #moneyball #superles
