Completely disagree. You see goalkeepers at all levels able to make "one for the cameras" type saves. What seperates the very good from the competent are the things fans don't notice or appreciate. Positioning, communicating with the back four, command of the box, doing the supposedly simple things so well the they look simple. Sometimes when you see a keeper make a great save its because their positioning was wrong in the first place. A back four is a much better back four when it trusts its keeper. Obviously making world class saves is part of it but It's those things that make a good keeper a great keeper.

Whats been our best result since being promoted?
Turkish replied to CumbrianSaint's topic in The Saints
Under Koeman we've won at Old Trafford, Stamford bridge and the Emirates and won 8-0 and 6-1 at home in less than a year. Despite all the moaning on here it puts into perspective what an amaZing job he's done to not know rebuild the team but produce results like that. -
It's a thread on Saintsweb, that goes without saying.

Still think Tanadari Lee is going to be a premier league star??:lol:

I'm glad you scrolled the thread trying to find me before you decided to post. Especially as you aren't even on my radar. I've posted a lot less recently but its good to know that even those I've never engaged with before on here still keep tabs.

Nothing says I'm a ***** who knows nothing about football like someone who says "and my second team is......."

I used to paricularly enjoy the stats around our percentage chance of making the champions league which were all the rage. Of course all common went out of the window, those that said they were a load of bollo*cks were shouted down. Oh no, some spreadsheet jockey told us we were 64% likely to make the champions league or some other nonsense so this was cause for celebration. Funny how no one has posted the links since April.

1 build a statue of cortese, similar to the one of Jesus in Rio, his arms spread overlooking St Mary's and the club he saved 2. Ban all the Mars bar/wacky/bantersaurus Rex type fans and replace them with good looking, hard and well dressed chaps. Hired in if need be 3. Deliberately Get relegated in my first season, win the championship every year thereafter and refuse promotion to the premier league.

To be blunt mate, if they're so soppy that being told not to act like a helmet stops them going to games then they're probably best off doing something else with their time and money anyway.
-
All this just goes to show what utter *****s go to football these days. It's sh*t, over priced nonsense attended by people you'd avoid in other scenarios. They're either wacky, banter types trying to be characters, helmets acting like c*cks or know I talks who think they're experts and spend their whole time commenting on the game, slagging off the players or banging on about what this player should have done or how the tactics are wrong.

We shouldn't be surprised many found it hilarious. It was only a few of season ago a large part of the Northam end was rolling around the aisles like it was the funniest thing they've ever been involved in when they got to shout 'steeeeeeeve' every time De Ridder got near the ball. Also This Clever ditty is only the latest in a history of hilarious snack based chants to cascade down from the terraces saints fans have been on. 'Look like a wotsit' being the personal low spot for me. When it comes to hilarity our fans certainly hold their own with any in the country.

You can only imagine how epic the #bantz was from the 12 bantersaurus rexes of forums. Pap is obviously the archbishop of banterbury, with Jeff turning up in his bantmobile, if Lou was a footballer she'd be Eric Bantona, Bucks could fill the role of Bantonio Banteras with aplomb. In fact if their meet up was a stage show it'd be Bantom of the Opera. SAdly i dont think i'll ever make drinks with the bantonomists as when it comes to #bantz i'm only a bantom weight.

No need to apologise Adrian, no one gives a sh*t.

Something about james Ward Prowse contributing nothing and his quality delivery is a myth

And ronald has just confirmed pretty much exactly what I said. Maybe he should consult here before making his selections as you lot know better.

Because cedric is good going forward not so hot defensively and would be bullied by the pace qnd power of Depay. Solid back six against an attacking United line up with mane and Tadic to provide the creativity. HTH pal.

A Sammy Lee Les Reed managerial dream team?
-
That's funny, I'm pretty sure you told us it was about being in mess, treading water, being on downward spirals and nice messages from the board when we sell the family silver.

Isn't it funny how 'The southampton way' varies depending on who the manager is and what he prefers as a system and way of operating I remember when adkins was here it was 'the southampton way' not to talk about injuries publicly or names of transfer targets, which was hailed as a masterstoke to keep the oppostion guessing, now we openly discuss these things in public that is 'the Southampton way' as well. It a similar vein is in an amazing coincidence how 'the black box' has started throwing up players based in Holland as soon as we employed a Dutch manager who had worked in Holland. Oh and of course it also has an intimate knowlwdge of Celtic as well.

I haven't completed your survey as I don't believe surveys give an accurate assessment as to the true match day experience for the average fan. So here's my view. Certainly the club has worked hard to improve the match day experience and the improvement in the PA system as well as the introduction of new screens behind each goal was a real step in the right direction. I feel that the half time entertainment at St Mary's is innovative with attention drawn to this from our dancing dog and the plaudits this recieved in the national media a couple of seasons ago testimony to the hard work that goes on behind the scenes by the chairman to provide an all encompassing fan friendly environment. However I feel that there is a lack of variation in the selection of match day music, usually limited to well known rock bands and would emplore the club to include reggae, r&b, rap, bangra beat and techno to encourage the Eastern european and other ethic minorities which have made this fine city of ours their home to suppport their adopted home towns soccerball club. A real issue though are the queues for the kiosks and toilets at half time are a real bug bear of many match goers and the club seems to show little willingness to resolve them. It's a shame that so many people miss so much of their game as they need to eat, drink and have a slash every 45 minutes. That said though with thee we improving quality and selection of food stuffs now available inside the ground the match day experience has never been better IMO.

I stand to be corrected on this but I beleive northern saints get a small allocation for every away game, which for big games is done on a priority basis, ie those with most previous away matches via northern saints on their record. I can see why season ticket holders would be p*ssed off about non season ticket holders effectively jumping the queue, however if you live hundreds of miles away its not practical to be a seaaon ticket holder. It's not like you're talking hundreds of tickets, I don't know the exact numbers but I'd imagine Northern Saints probably only get 10-15 a game.
-
I don't see what people are complaining about. I applaud Chelsea's decison to make ticket prices as high as possible and would encourage other clubs to follow suit. The higher the ticket price the less likely it is for soppy blokes to take their birds, for the thick, badly dressed majority of our fan base incapable of pronoucing the name of our player properly or singing a song with more than 2 lines in it. High ticket prices keep out the clueless majority and couples which can only be good for the game. As we can see on here most people who are going are reasonably decent chaps so chelsea should be praised not criticised. Another bonus is that as The9 bank balance is recovering for previous trips, which he might have mentioned once or twice then I won't be subjected to a photo/status wackiness on facebook all day from the moment they leave the house.

When Ramirez signed his wages were pretty open knowledge. He basically said himself he only came for the money. He was said to be on €2m net per year with a €1m signing on fee. His signing has cost about £18m so far. let's see how much we have to pay him to leave. Along with Osvaldo can't be far off the £40m mark for 5 decent games between them. Still, all hail cortese.

What's Alex Crooks lackey been up now?
