  1. Fair play to the Gas. Promoted from the conference last season and straight through to league 1. That shows real ambition.
  2. Spot on. We should be proud of our system that we had faith in a manager who was out of work at the time we hired him. but now is rated very highly and potentially in line for some top jobs in the next few years
  3. I am certainly not his greatest fan, and he has certainly sent people off for less than a lot of the tackles that went on at the end of that game, and as a result he has ruined matches. With the exception of the Dyer second yellow card, I think he did OK on the night. I would rather see the game finish 11 v 11 unless there is a decent reason. The gouging and the stamping are going to be dealt with by the FA hopefully, and the tension contributed to a hugely entertains second half. It was only in the last 10 minutes that Spuds decided to kick anything that moved. At least we are talking about an exciting match not a ruined one.
  4. Didn't you see the signs around the ground announcing that the saints summer sale was now on?
  5. Cracking Trev. Not sure where my travels will take me in the next 12 months, but will try to meet up with you in a couple of those locations. Great work, see you soon
  6. Before we started winning away games in L1 we probably averaged about 3 away wins a season for 20 years. I am sure someone will correct me, but certainly we do not have a history of winning away from home, it has nearly always been our home form that has saved us.
  7. Steckelenburg is a free agent at the end of the season. I expect talks have been held already.
  8. I was staying by the harbour (Pier V hotel) in Baltimore last autumn and noticed the factory on the other side of the water, in what looked like a former dockside warehouse from a distance. I remarked to my American friend at the time that someone in this country can spell properly.
  9. Gordon Strachan used to say a good team is a noisy team on the pitch
  10. We only got 4 points last season from the fixtures we have left. We need 10 points just to match last seasons final total and to stand any slim chance of another European tour.
  11. He is also successful because he gives players a chance and plays them because they are on form not because of their reputation according to the press. If Poch stays in English football and does well with bigger clubs than Spurs, I hope our role in bringing him to this country is remembered.
  12. Everyone knows Huth and Morgan are pub players, but you will also notice that they do not expose either centre back to pace by pushing up, in fact they don't really push the full backs on as much as most teams, they nearly always defend as a back four.
  13. The young one on the Kingsland side did not cover himself in glory
  14. Only saw the second half, they passed and moved with pace, exploiting the spaces out wide. They looked decent, it will be interesting to see if we give them the same sort of space by playing three at the back.
  15. They are called women, you need to spend less time on here
  16. Perhaps the Danish fans could respond with a banner showing Man U's income vs Midtjyllands income? It is a bit rich from Man U fans to expect a club with a ground capacity of about 10k not to put the prices up for this match. No sense of reality or consideration for smaller clubs in this latest ticket row.
  17. Not that bad. Liverpool Chelsea and Everton will have nothing to play for by April! I seem to recall when we were in relegation battles at the end of the season that it didn't matter who we played.
  18. Obviously the quickest to 100 points in the top flight, which managers have more points than that since Ted, Lawrie and Chris Nichol? Strachan?
  19. The problem with the "big clubs" supporters calling for reduced prices is the effect it will have on the wider football pyramid. Take West Ham for example, when they start offering reduced price tickets next season because they cannot fill their new ground, what effect will that have on Leyton Orient and Dagenham? These clubs do not have massive PL money and sponsorship to subsidise ticket prices. Ticket sales are the main source of revenue for lower league clubs. The problem will be even worse "up north" where the clubs are less geographically spread, the lower league teams will suddenly look expensive to visit in comparison to PL games. The only saving grace is that most PL stadiums are full already, so it will not draw crowds from lower league games immediately, though as more clubs expand their stadiums this issue will raise itself.
  20. Based on corresponding fixtures we are on course for only 51 points this season, but in the same way we dropped off last year when Forster was injured, our form is improving with his return.
  21. Byram committed 5 or 6 fouls in his short spell on the pitch, more than one with an edge. Looks just like a product of "dirty Leeds" though is way too young to remember them. Perhaps they show them the films in the academy up there.
  22. Grauniad saying we should have had a penalty for handball
  23. good idea. Nope not there.
  24. Looking for 2 tickets if anyone can help
  25. No problem there if your team are not playing them. My son and sat in the home end a few weeks ago, my son with his Saints hat on. We simply told the locals that we had been to see Charlton earlier in the day and walked out early because the were "rubbish" and we were their best mates! Some lad about six taught my son some words he had never heard before and the following week we were linked to their goalkeeper. We often take in other games at home and abroad when Saints are away at a game we are not going to. As Whitey says, it's good fun watching a game you are not worried about the result in.
