  1. IS it only me on here that thinks the weight of expectation would have destroyed any teams ability to perform. Please tell me any other country that had 60 million fans daring their team to fail. how many fans ridicule thier players for daring to miss a penalty and harp on about it for 20 years. how many burn effigies of thier start player when he made a mistake and gets sent off. the fear of failure is cripplling. speak to fans of other countries and the weight of expectation is simply not there. Rooney is undoubtedly a world class player but was paralysed by the pressure perform /win the world cup for us. No doubt in the coming season these england players will be slaughtered bt the fans in te premier league and so the cycle goes on with the young up and coming players watching the witch hunt. englan are doomed to be victims of the passion and desire of the fans need to win the world cup and be the best.
  2. For me its fairly obvious ...... The level of expectation, the pressure on the team to perform + the microscopic analysis by the media + the premier leagues obsession with money and foreeign players = **** poor performance. Clearly individually the players have the talent but thier seems to be a a mentality where the fear of making a mistakee and being fillified by the press and the public overides the desire to player to the level that they are capable. look back at previous world cups and look at the way beckham was treated after being sent off and the look at the way the penalty takers were slaughtered after they missed thier kicks. If the pressure was relieved and scum in the press withdrew thier need to critisise every mistake then maybe our talented players would perform at the level they do week to week. All of this talk of the world cup bewing the highest level of footy is shyte. league foot is higher because it tis the best players from throughout the world playing in the same leagues. our players consistently player at a higer level and play better football. The is not the same level of expwctation and pressure. Until that is removed we will remain on the same cycle.
  3. this thread is as pointless as starting a thread entitled "guess what alan pardews favourite colour is?" come to think of it any guesses anyone as its vaguely on topic and is sure to stimulate some riveting debate.
  4. NO sympathy. regardlesss of who they support anyone that is prepared to throw coins, wood, hubcaps etc at another person and gernerally behave inappropriately at an event that has been attended by children is in my opinion a scumbag and desrves no sypathy. It may be harsh but I bet they wont do it again. There were another 31k + people that could restrain thier behavior despite any provocation that may have occured. Sorry but I have no sypathy for those involved.
  5. i appreciate this is the world cup. i appreciate that its the best players in the world. i appeciate that the players were under a ot of pessure to perform tonight. however i hosesty believe the current starting saints 11 would under the same circumstances and pressure taken algeria apart tonight in what was essentaillt a home game.
  6. That would be my team as well. How Shyte Flips got on ahead of Cole is anyones guess.
  7. Finishing second in our group and moving into the other half of the draw to avoid Brazil and spain now looks like the way to go.
  8. on my 9700 on the main forum there are some words on top of each other when there are multiple pages on a thread title.
  9. Doesnt seem to work on my blackberry very well. on the main forum when there are multiple pages numbers for avspecific thread title it seems to have all the writing on top of each other.
  10. how about you dont buy a new season ticket, make a post once telling us that you wont be buying and then with respect ..... shut the ***** up about it as i think we get the picture that you are not happy about it.
  11. what an original idea for a thread.
  12. Rio Ferdinand has hobbled out of England's first training session in South Africa, but the more worrying news for me is that he suffered the injury being "turned by Emile Heskey". Pretty bad news all round
  13. I cant believe people are still whinging about installment plans and Cortese in general FFS. Its a football club and if you want to watch games you either buy a season ticket or buy a ticket for each game that you want to go to. Who gives a toss who runs the club and whether they communicate with the fans on a dailly basis. Surely the truly important thing is being able to get into a game and watching a winning team. Ultimately those whio think attendances will be effected by the withdrawal of an installment plan are niave at best. The only true thing that effects attendance is whether the team are matching the expectations of the fans. If we are top of the league it will be rammed if we are bottom it will be empty.
  14. We didnt actually fall short on a point for point basis. The FACT ammassed enough points to make the play offs and huddersfield didnt. The rules were bent to suit the football league at the end of last season and as a result we have suffered.
  15. I hate to tell you this but there was a third time, the Royal Navy
  16. I dont like the "wears the shirt of matt le Tiss line." For me that makes it sound like no other ones fit him so he had to wear matts. I think it should be He gets the ball he takes the **** He scores great goals like Matt le Tiss or something like that

    NC

Incorrect, I was at the game in the itchin stand and NC was 100% there but no ML
  18. I didnt think rickie seemed to pleased when he scored his goals today and the lap of appeciation round the pitch was a little subdued, anything in that ? maybe the players know whats going on and arent happy? or am i looking for something that not there
  19. Now that is priceless. That truely made me laugh out loud, alot.
  20. You have been behind him all season? **** me I wouyld hate to see what you would be like on here with a manager you werent behind. I suspect the voodoo dolls would come out
  21. IF you read the post again you may spot the name of the source. Why is it so hard to believe? Wooton was Plymouths captain who was out of contract and we were preceived at the time as needing an experienced midfield general to bring through the kids that RL insisted would return us to former glories. MLT for me counts as a reliable source IMO.
  22. According to MLT he is on £14k per week and are highest paid player by some stretch. For that he should play at a level slightly higher tha garbage.
  23. Also the fact that none of the teams that went down had to sell all of thier decent players after selling all there other ones in the championship the year before.
  24. Im not sure how much southend owe to the taxman but I dont think its lareg amounts. Would it not be in ML's interest to make a donation to the taxman on thier behalf to keep things level.
  25. Hudds have 2 home games against millwall and Colcehster. They are not nearly as good away from home. I can see them dropping 5 points quite easily ( a loss and a draw). The question is whether we can win them all.
