  1. From what I've read JWP is an intelligent guy. Son of a barrister, albeit a Skate, I believe he was clever enough for a top Uni place. This isn't the norm with footballers and may explain why it has taken him a little longer to get where he is. Very good player now and will only get better.
  2. Heard this, but just think that injury has set him back. Mourinho is a self centred p-r-i-c-k which does Shaw no favours. Injury was about as bad as it can get. not quite on the Dave Buust level but think Lawrence Taylor on Joe Theismann and you begin to get the picture. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mznBvAGScdg
  3. As ever on the footy bit of SWF, to the point, and very probably bang on. Shaw will end up in London I expect , possibly back with Pochettino. The fact he left three years ago tells you all you need to know about his attachment to the club.
  4. **** is the best description I can come up with too.
  5. Didn't realise they'd played Portsmouth this season!
  6. Or as Dave Brailsford would call it; the accumulation of marginal gains.
  7. Glastonbury could be blamed for the poor turnout of the younger vote.
  8. Staunch pro-EU as I am if I suggested this to my wife, also very pro-EU she'd have me sectioned.
  9. Large swathes of working class Britain voted for Brexit because the inequalities that exist in such areas. These are socio-economic and cultural inequalities have been there for years and years going back to the 1970s. I can't condemn it, but I can disagree with it.
  10. Cfuk and we thought it was bad over here with the right wing moving alarmingly into the mainstream of political thinking.
  11. Not used that terminology personally. Brexit is about inequality in the UK and a society which believes it is entitled without taking any responsibility. It is a similar breeding ground to Post WW1 Germany, and we all know how that ended.
  12. To be fair I agree although I would say that they have strong sense of xenophobia rather than being out and out racist. Where the line is I don't know. That said the normalising of right-wing political views in this country is a worrying trend. Even someone firmly in the centre left is denigrated, belittled and abused on here by those with right-wing leanings. (you know who are) To some extent there is resigned magnanimity amongst remainers, I don't see a lot of that reciprocated on here by Brexiteers. People have the right to object to coming out of the EU without being subject to aggressive, triumphalist ****. It's called freedom of speech. The reality is that the vote must stand. Politicians of all hues must begin to address the huge inequalities in our society in or out of the EU. Failure to do this has led to where we are today. On purely personal level if offered individual citizenship of the EU I would take it like a shot, but that's my personal preference which I don't feel I have justify on a football messageboard.
  13. Here's hoping Brexit goes well. Hope everyone gets out of it what they want. In for an interesting year or so. Have always maintained that the democratic decision of the people has to be upheld. Hope it doesn't impact too much on communities who voted for it. In essence it really does show how inequality in this country has been left to fester too long with the north/south divide and the haves and have-nots. Sad! I've worked in two less-resilient communities in Berkshire (sounds posher than it is) all my working life and fail to see how either result would benefit either south Reading or Easthampstead.
  14. Hmm any more pinko, pony, snowflake, leftie, libtard type insults?
  15. Whilst I agree with what you say, you need to make sure if you post links that people can access them. FT links are always behind a paywall.
  16. Happy new wheels! I am currently using Finish Line Teflon Plus Dry Lube. I bought the aerosol version which comes with a handy nozzle to get it onto the chain without spraying it everywhere. Cleans off well and doesn't seem to attract too much dirt. I'm a bit of a saddo and re-lube my chain before each ride. I use wipes to get rid of the old lube and make sure nothing is gathering between the links. Every three or four rides I'll get some de-greaser on it and give it a more thorough clean.
  17. Come on be honest when did you resort this 'snowflake' **** as an insult. 24th June 2016 perhaps.
  18. I may be wrong but didn't someone 'out' Larry12 as a Skate last summer during the managerial upheaval?
  19. Gut reaction is that he will be a City player pretty early on in summer window.
  20. Looks like the PM is between a rock and a hard place as to who to p-i-s-s off. The Scots or the Brexit zealots?

    Budget

Trouble is VFTT none of these give a stuff. Most people see no further than the long holidays afforded to teachers and assume it is an easy job. Unless you are in it day in day out it is difficult to comprehend otherwise. Would challenge most on here to go into a school and work in front of a class and see what it's like for themselves. Sorry it isn't easy and your post is a realistic picture. Education is as broken as the NHS in its own way. There again I suppose we are free to swan off into the sunset with our 'gold-plated' final salary pensions so it can't all be bad.

    Budget

OK, so you see it as the mildest form of austerity. Exactly what would you do differently?
  23. Good idea if you put links in to support an argument that it isn't hidden behind a paywall. Would have been interested in this but can't be arsed to pay.
  24. It has certainly been an interesting eight months or so since the referendum. No economic disasters thus far which is a good thing. Can only hope that continues. If it does once Article 50 is triggered then all well and good, just not sure anyone really knows how it will pan out so using pre A50 indicators as a measure of how successful the post A50 economy will be seems a little presumptuous to me.
