  1. That was chuffin' brilliant. Completely dominated 'boro ro most of the match. Gutted Guly didn't get the hatrick, an inch to the right & he'd have had one in about 35 minutes. The third goal was awesome, a propper team goal, Boro didn't touch the ball for about 5 minutes & what a lay-off from Rickie. We've now beaten the 2nd & 3rd teams playing well on both ocassions. Good times. Chappers motm for me (again).
  2. I'm no legal eagle, but I don't think an employee can be sacked for being off sick, no matter how the employee was injured. I sort of speak from experience. I had the snip a few years ago & was off work for 2 days (1 for the op & 1 for recovery). My employer told me I had to take 2 days leave as it was my choice to have the op. I queried this with a barister friend, he told me that as it was elective surgery I should take the first day as leave & the second as sick, as I was unable to work. He actually said, to paraphrase "you can phone in sick with a hangover, it doesn't matter how you get sick or injured, the fact is that you are". So I would be surprised if Saints could sack a player for getting injured in his free-time. Now if he was disobeying club orders that may be a different matter.
  3. The look on the seal face as it was dragged from the ice was a picture. It looked so dejected & resigned to its fate. There were a couple of lol moments, like the sealion & the penguin chase & the young bison being accidentally charged by the fleeing adult, he took a hell of a wallop.
  4. Set the recorder, so the kids can watch a bit of classic comedy.
  5. I didn't realise it was so serious until I read this mornings paper. Lucky bloke. I wish him a speedy & full recovery.
  6. Thats my point though, a goal can be ruled out precisely because of the players body position, as I said, when he is half an inch off-side. In that respect it's no different to rugby.
  7. What a ridiculous comment. The same could be said for football, eg. if the toe of a strikers boot is even just half an inch past the heel of the defender, he is offside, and conversely, how many times have balls crossed the goal line by a small margin, only for the goal to be wrongly disallowed. The only difference is that in RU they use the technology to correctly judge these marginal decisions. In football the powers that be are afraid of technology & leave the refs open to critiscism by not using it.
  8. Saw my Action Man tent, Crossfire & Super Flight deck, amongst that lot. I will be asking my parents why I never had a Lego hovercraft though.
  9. My parents used to take us to watch the Vikings (for the youngsters they an ice hockey team in Soouthampton), I loved it, I don't think we missed a match in about 10 years. I hadn't seen a match since they folded, until about 3 years ago when I took my kids to watch Basingstoke Bison, they really enjoyed it. I'll try & get 3-4 games in a season now. Bloody brilliant sport.
  10. The thread title when viewed on the home page reads: Hampshire cricket close" I thought they'd been wound-up.
  11. Do you get your stuff staight back, or do they keep it for evidence? Last christmas my neighbour was away, on christmas day I saw someone walked into her back garden. I plucked up all my courage & went around, to be confronted by her son who said he was getting his pressies whilst mum was away, so I went back home. Boxing day I had the rozzers at my door saying next door had been robbed & had I seen anything. Turns out her son is/was a junkie & broke in, by the time they got hold of him he'd sold the stuff, nice lad.
  12. I didn't realise this was up for debate. I thought SMS was going to host some matches anyway. Excellent news though, I'll be there.
  13. Southampton Saints RFC already exist, they play at Test Park.
  14. I wouldn't say he's got a nasty side, he's competitive, doesn't shirk out of tackles & I think his will to win can make him a little impetuous at times, but I wouldn't call him nasty.
  15. That was a nice birthday pressy for Iowsaintsfan. I to will be sharing my birthday with a home match, but in the interests of internet security I won't be telling which.
  16. Save your stamp, I'm sure it was reported on the tv that it would be for both games.
  17. I thought the same. It should be announced at the end, although it was nice to actually have the attendance announced for once.
  18. I think he is a Saints fan & originally from the area. I can't remember his name, but it has been posted on here before, he is an actor/entertainer & has a website to promote himself. If I could remember his hame I'd google it.
  19. There were 5 empty seats in the row behind me (in the Chapel/kingsland family corner) & I could see another half-a-dozen or so scattered around.
  20. Comment of the thread for me. It was one of those lol moments that had my colleagues asking what I was reading. That was an immense 3 points for us. Loved it. Mom for me was Chappers, he was every where, I was disappointed/surprised he was subbed, but I guess he was knackered. Honorable mentions must go to Guly, Hoover & Kelvin, who made a couple of cracking saves & some great catches in the last 10 minutes when the pressure was on (and to think some want him "rested").
  21. Probably not a normal occurance, but sadly I think it is not unheard of. I remember seeing photos a few years ago of people walking past the bodies of babies. They were dumped in the street because of the one child per family rule & were considered surplus to requirements.
  22. Me three
  23. Marathon for me.
  24. 25 correct, out of a possible 24, that is truly awesom Dune, perhaps you should be Queen.
