  1. Bloody brilliant. I felt the score flattered us a little, they did miss 2 sitters, hit the post & have one cleared off the line, but so what. I'm enjoying being a Saints fan.
  2. Took my nieces today, both U11 & got the tickets for free with my season ticket. Will probably do the same for a some of my sons mates in a couple of weeks for his birthday.
  3. Easy, 1919. The Police are currently banned from taking strike action under the Police Act 1996, and have been banned from striking since 1919.
  4. Just heard the latest news on the radio, no news really, DS is having a scan today, don't know when he will be ready to play etc etc.
  5. It's attached by bridges, which pass over water. The bridges are man made, therefore geographically it is an island. It would only take a couple of medium sized explosions to cast them adrift.
  6. ********, that's going to screw up my kids rugby.
  7. I admire you guys, it's not a job I'd want to do at any level. My point is that the more dialogue (dare I say it even banter) that a ref has with the players, the more they respect & respond to him. I played parks football from the age of 18 to about 35 & the refs that got the least hassle were the "friendlier", less aloof types. I'm sorry to say that some are on a power-trip and come across as complete c()cks. Also they generally bugger off after a match, with hardly a word to anyone. When My kids got involved in rugby about 8 years ago & I got dragged kicking & screaming into the vets team, whilst the standard of reffing is no better than parks football (ie they miss a lot & get things wrong), they will give the required signal, and generally reinforce it with "No12, you can't use hands in the ruck". It helps justify their position, whether it's the correct decision or not. Then after the game the ref can usually be found in the clubhouse, with the players from both teams, having a bevvy or two. The best footy ref I encountered, was actually partially blind. When he missed something once, a player turned to him and said "are you blind ref", his reply was somthing like "yes I am in my left eye, I'll give what I can see".
  8. One of the other differences between rugby & football refs is that rugby refs will always justifty a decision. My experience of football refs is that they are generally aloof and won't enter into dialogue with a player, many a time I've heard footy refs come out with "I'm the ref, my descision is final", it's unhelpful & often inflammatory.
  9. Not quite a cosmopoliton as the above offerings, but myself, Mrs Geezer & the little geezerlets were holidaying on the IOW. We had some spare time so thought we would go to Fishborne to find the Roman Villa. We couldn't find it on the map & when we got to Fishborne there were no brown tourist signs to help us. So I decided to ask someone for directions, only to be told I'd need to get the ferry & go to FISHBOURNE, Sussex.
  10. Found this: http://www.yourdrivinglicence.co.uk/what-happens-if-driving-licence-has-expired.html So your lady friend could be facing a £1000 fine is she drives without a valid licence.
  11. 1) Man on the moon - I'm too young to remember (I was 2 at the time) 2)Live Aid 3)Death of Diana - Didn't affect me, but a lot seemed upset about it. 4) 9/11 5) Berlin wall and the genaral fall of communism in Europe 6) Interweb - although not really an "event" as such, which is why I snuck it it at the end.
  12. I see what you did there.
  13. We (England) managed to scrap home, usual England performance, not a lot of flare, but able to grind out a result, only just in this case, but Argentina are no mugs, they're not there just to make the numbers up. I'm expecting a lot better for the remaining group matches & hopefully Jonny will have the right boots on. We've managed to get the first citation of the RWC, Courtney Lawes for kneeing.
  14. They all got stretched necks, especially the front row & Barney behind - wierd.
  15. Thought he did ok, not spectacular, but ok. I'm sure once he's had time to bed in he will be a capable replacement for Jaidi or Seaborne. Having said that I thought both he & Fox were at fault for both goals, but with 3/4 of the defence playing together for the first time, these things happen. He's not as good as Vidic (or Fonte) though. To be honest I was more concerned with Fox at LB.
  16. I really enjoyed that game, although a little concerned about the defence (not massively like some). I didn't realise Butters & Harding were injured & wondered what Adkins was up to, but all has become clear & I think once we have fit full backs things will be a lot different. I thing Hooiveld generally did ok & once he settles into the team will be fine, although I thought both he & fox were culpable for both goals. Well done Lambo, fully deserved tha match ball.
  17. Very true, Lemmy & Motorhead are another example.
  18. Not quite, Mcguigan & Bonehead were in got rid of the original singer & got LG in. He still can't sing though. I doubt if Oasis would have got anywhere without Noels songwriting ability.
  19. Liam Galagher, only got the job because his brother was in-charge.
  20. rolling
  21. I believe Fermats last theorem was xn+yn=zn. However, I may be wrong, it's a long time since I played with this type of nonsense. Edit: Looks like I was beaten to it by Ludwig, at least it proves my memory is still working.
  22. I don't think Dunely loves us anymore, he's moved over to the Ugly. Shame.
  23. Got to be quicker just to lift them, rather than take the phone from the bag, unlock it, search for the evidence & delete it. Assuming they existed in the first place.
  24. Not in Millbrook anymore: "In July this year the family left their Millbrook home with a handout from Southampton City Council of £2,500." I pity their new neighbours. I wish the council would give be 2.5k for being a good neighbour, maybe I should smash a few windows.
  25. Indeed. I'm looking forward to this immensley (not so much the early mornings though).
