  1. Wasn't that the late great Bobby Robsons description of Gazza?
  2. I think that is the crux of it. Redknapp is the type of managed who buys success, or his way out of trouble and is rarely seen around the training ground. I don't think Adkins has had the luxury of spending big ( until now) & has coached players to get his success. Granted Adkins has spent a bit here, but I think he is a very good coach as well as a man-manager.
  3. Christ, that's a real shocker. Rip.
  4. Glad it's not too serious. As a footnote to this thread, if you get sudden extremely painfull headaches seek medical advice immediately. My best mate had no history of migranes, and put up an extreme headache for a couple of days before visiting the doc. He was in an operating theatre later that day being operated on for a brain tumour. He died a week later aged 32.
  5. I'd sooner look at the pictures on the "Worst injuries" thread than the one above.
  6. Maybe he gave it to his own kid. That's what I'd do anyway.
  7. I don't usualy watch the screen either, but they are useful when the barage balloon of a bloke who sits in front of me needs to get up to let his kids out, just as Saints are attacking, I just need to look to my left to see what's going on. They used to show replays, but I don't think this has been possible since we were relegated from the prem.
  8. I wonder if in 40 years time anyone will be remeniscing about the likes of Tinie Tempah & Dappy in a similar thread?
  9. & Freddie Mercury would have been 65 this year Debbie Harry was 66 in july (god did I have a thing for her when I was 14) Bowie is 64 It's very wrong that rock stars should get old.
  10. J P Walsh (or maybe Welsh) was the company. They were on our list of preffered tenderers, back in the late 80's (hence the fuzzy recolection) for subsidence jobs. His father-in-law is Billy Walsh (Welsh), I've met him many times - nice bloke. I didn't realise they'd gone to the wall (pun intended).
  11. I remember those days as well.
  12. Chappers could have had a couple today also.
  13. Is there any better way to spend a hot, sunny afternoon?
  14. I love this guy. I thought he was great first time around, now I know he is great. Fantastic player, a little over enthusiastic some times, but plays with passion, and you can't fault that. Unlucky not to score today. I seem to remember that his Mrs is a bit tasty too!
  15. He left us with some gems. Rip.
  16. I'm not so sure his wage demands will be particularly high, surely getting a low wage (in football terms) is better than not getting a wage, as he is currently. I agree with others that if he if fit enough & his attitude is right, he would be a good back-up for Lambert.
  17. Bloody ridiculous. I can't believe how bitter some people have become. I'm not sure how asking people to pay their way in life can leave one bloke open to such vitriol. As far as I have seen NC has done nothing but good for this club. I've enjoyed the best 2 years of SFC that I can remember in a very long time. I hope NC doesn't waste his time reading these forums as it would appear their are some very bitter, petty & ungrateful people around. Markus didn't need to throw his millions our way, but the fact he did is down to NC. If it wasn't for NC & ML we'd have some bloke who still lives his mum in-charge & I've no doubt we'd be in League 2, not pushing for promotion to the prem. Some of the mong supporters this club have are frankly an embarrassment. Go & support Portsmouth, you deserve each other.
  18. Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't he persuade ML to part with £15 million or so to buy the club?
  19. Bearsy & SFCDan. Just click on the "View Poll Results" button & it tells you.
  20. You've got a stalker - be very careful
  21. It's taken from Saturdays matchday programme, the Mirror this morning did the same.
  22. That pic was my favourite. Can someone post it back up?
  23. .........................
  24. Whatever you choose, make sure the initials don't spell anything contentious. For instance I used to work with Timothy Ian Tonner. It is common place for draughtmen to initial their drawings, Tim would only use TT.
  25. Probably not as much as you thing. We've paid more than about £35-40 to have a standard room (not landing or stairs) carpeted. They are bloody quick as well, never taken more tha 30 mins.
