My highlight was the incredibly drunk guy in the yellow saints shirt on the 7.30train back. He looked worse for wear when I got on. About half way through he started striding up and down the carridge looking incredibly pale. As people started to realise he was looking for somewhere to be sick there were big cheers and panic that it could be on them! I think he eventually threw up in the corner. Even better was he eventually got off at Woking - I really don't think he was meant to - big cheers went up again as he staggered to and from the train as a bunch of blokes banged on the window taking the mick! I don't wanna know what happened to him!

Davis Murty Fonte Jaidi Harding Puncheon Hammond Schneiderlin Lallana Lambert Waigo Would like to see that line up. Think Barnard will come good but just can't leave Waigo out, he deserves a run in the team. Otsemabor when Murty if injured/unfit.

I'm assuming he is picking games he thinks we can win comfortably to rest Jaidi. Good idea I think.

You may be right about the team being built around him - but he is NOT a midfield general! Hammond was meant to be the general. -
Thought he was class when I've seen him. Would be great to have the options of him, Holmes, Antonio and Papa for the wings IMO
-
Ha - was expecting an amazing free kick when Lambert lined it up! Everyone always talks about how luck is needed every now and again, we definately didn't take it.

hello!

Out of interest, Is Hammond not more of an attacking midfielder than Spiderman? Would they not be swapped in your line up? I only mention as I have had bets on morgan to score, but he always seems so much further back than Hammond, it looks unlikely! Agree that that's a cracking looking side tho!

Did anyone else actually quite rate Mellis like myself? Wasn't a world beater but think he was quite handy as a more attacking option from midfield.

hmmmm very interesting. I'm not blown away due to that rubbish loan spell he had with us, buty will definately give him a chance and hope he proves me wrong!

Liverpool home or away - got uni mates there, good excuse for a reunion.

Good looking side, as long as we still manage to attack and don't leave Lambert isolated. Also noted ythat Beckford has just scored twice more for Leeds - time for Lambert to match him!!!!

I think Wotton did a solid job when he came on, quite suprised people are questioning this sub. I'm sure AP will have explained clearly to Fish why he needed to take him off, as others said it was a tactical change he was forced to make as the game turned. I think Fish has potential but was a big fan of Holmes so would like to see him given a chance. Then if he's no good I think a LM signing is in order. Here's to a playoff place!

My road is full of ice!

I like him, and having him and Antonio fighting for one position is an excellent situation to be in IMO. Papa I feel is better as a winger in terms of his ability to take players on and put a cross in. Antonio seems good on the break and is a lot stronger, and can outmuscle people . Both have suspect touch at times. I agree some of those offside calls were wrong and some he was well off...but i'd much rather he was trying this than not, imagine if it really clicked for him = goals galore!

Would be a fantastic 3 points away. Happy with a draw

Sorry, can anyone explain what exeactly he meant by 'with or without Pardew and his team'? Is he being honest and saying a time may come if we keep moving up when he has to think bigger and get a 'better' manager in? -
One more HCDAJFU would be Pele. Still without a club and I think he is a much better holding midfielder than Wotton. Better in the air, good on the ball and very hard to knock off it. I agree, hated Pele at CB, but thought he had real potential as a Defensive midfielder

I'm going for 2-1, lallana and lambert to score BUT... Can anyone please confirm that Lallana is likely to play?? On BBC he's listed as doubtful, but he's quoted on the OS talking about the game. Don't wanna put a bet on and see he's out! What do u reckon?

Very weird game - one of those ones where at 2-0 I prayed that we'd get a draw, and have a replay. Had no idea it would go to penalties! I don't like being negative and have been on a high since and including Bristol Rovers, but that was a shocking performance. The only positive in my eyes was a very accomplished run of penalties - was pleasantly suprised by that. For large parts of the game we abandoned our neat on the floor passing and just played head/chest tennis. I think it highlighted the massive importance of lallana, mellis and possibly schniederlin - as someone said the 'tidy' players. Perry and Thomas had a knigtmare against their massive No. 41 - I would have liked to have seen Pardew bring Jaidi on simply to nulify him, as the amount of headers from their long throw he won was scary, he needed a battering to shake him up. Also for some reason I thought Wotton scored one of the close tap ins, dunno how I got that wrong - well done Papa tho. Was hoping Gillet would rekindle my faith in him - he didn't. The trialist had a couple of good flashes but looked poor more often. At least we made it through and can look on and forget about it! COYR -
I probably should have just read dubai phils post - completely agree!

Ok, having had a day to slightly get over the dissapointment, here's my view. People who demanded the sacking of Pardew and slammed us for the performance I hope have now calmed down. We played a VERY solid rovers side and did a very good job for most of the game. Edged the first half and absolutely destroyed them for 15 mins after half time. It was the best i've seen us play in years and i'm sure few teams could have emulated that in this division. I agree it was confusing and soul destroying that we just bottled it and turned into a different team - I can only assume its a confidence prob. The thing I still can't decide is whether we should play 4-3-3 again. I was screaming at Mellis as he seamed to be playing as a central midfielder despite supposedly being on the right - there was just no one to work with Harding. Because of this we rarely got down the flanks. HOWEVER, we were mostly brilliant in that half and seemed to self destruct when we went more 4-4-2. I thought Mills was a poor choice to bring on. We had already started to fall apart then and a young inexperienced lightweight winger was not a good move. Holmes would have been better option. I desperately want to see those 2 close range saves to see if it was poor from us or great from goalie?? I'm gonna go look now...
