Been away on holiday for a week, what a week to be away eh?! I just have a question about Dickson. I see he was replaced at half time by harding and wondered how they compared? From people who saw both games (I missed both), do you think Dickson has a starting spot at left midfield, or if not, will he take hardings LB slot? Thanks

I agree, got caught offside a fair few times to start with, but after that peopel just picked up more on it. I'd also love to see the TV replay technology on all his offsides, just to see if he was harshly done by.

I thought Papa was brilliant in a frustrating but likeable way. Been a long time since we had a player with that much personality. I'd love to see him back but can't see it. Would be really interested to know if Pardew had a clear chance to get him and what his demands were.

Although I didn't eat at the ground I had a good nose at the menu and other people eating, can't say I was too impressed from what I saw, thought there was meant to be a bit of buzz around our new catering? looks like they've just swapped pies for pasties!? Before people shoot me down for wanting salads and caviar - i don't! I don't really mind, just wondered what others thought about the change? Good news on the beer going down though.

In terms of seeing the new and newish on show, I obviously wanted to love them all, but Dickson didn't really impress me that much. One cracking cross in first half that unfortunately no one got on the end of. Certainly a good squad player, but will wait to see whether he de-thrones Harding or gets a shot at left mid. Butterfield on the other hand looked very handy. Like the look of Martin too. Ox Chamberlain no way near up to it on todays showing. One or two more decent signings and i'll be a true believer! (Top 2 no doubt)

I was generally really impressed. Thought we more than matched them up to 2-2, then all the youngsters came on. Plus points were Barnard looking great, Butterfield looking good - especially the start of the second half, hammond looking really up for it, Mills sharp and more impressive than previous times I have seen him and the back four looking pretty solid, if a little dopey for their first. Although we do need some cover and hopefully an exciting signing, if Lambert, puncheon and Spiderman can start on sat, we should be laughing. Agree that I loved seeing Barmard bollock Harding for his silly long ball and that Hammond can be a liability!

I'm hoping for a pretty strong lineup so we can see if we're up for it, with a few players involved so I can have a look at. Hoping for something like; Davis Butterfield Fonte Martin Harding OC Spiderman Carter Dickson Lambert Barnard Haven't seen Dickson or Carter at all and only OC once or twice. I'd hope to see also at some point some from Bailowski, Hammond, Puncheon, Seabourne, Mills, Holmes too.

But...I expect AP to do the business like he previously has and make me wonder why I was ever concerned!

Just had a conversation with my mate about our strength compared to last season and we completely echoed the fact that we need an exciting signing. As the above posts say, we are defensively solid now, but Waigo and Antonio were big players for us last season. Now we know what they're all about, I would class them as big time signings. Desperately want a really decent winger and centre mid. Still optimistic about the season, but not AS optimistic as I was or should be!

Think i'll get one over the next few days. I have a cunning plan - my new how shirt is a little snug, so i'll wear that in the summer and buy a size up in the away kit ready for those freezing winter days were it will need to stretch over a hoodie or two! I really like the look of the away shirt, now that the 'buzz' of the home shirt has subsided a little i think I prefer the away shirt.

Interesting...I've only heard of 4 of them. Could anyone who follows the academy give an insight into the main 'potential'? Argent and Racine are the names I hear most. Thanks
