  1. Is that the usual "first block" of away fans ? I was there last season and its like looking along the goal line so everyone spends most of the game stood facing their right. I've waited to get my ticket tomorrow so a season ticket with no away games on can start to build some loyalty , will be interesting to see what block number we are up to for sales. Those posters above dashing up after work you can actually do it quite quickly from Waterloo on bakerloo line changing at Oxford circus onto Victoria line. If we do sell out when was the last time we took this many away midweek? (If you count bank holiday monday I think 6000 to Palace in championship promotion season)
  2. we have the modern day equivalents in Mane, Davis and Long! any updates on the various injuries Newcastle have? i'm going for a narrow 2-1 win for Saints
  3. First blocks being how many? 2? 3? Accuracy of info is doubtful here due to general assumption from the sound of it, unless you work at the TO? Tickets haven't even gone on sale to just season ticket holders yet which is the largest grouping in which sales would be expected if fans are holding back waiting to get tickets with their mates.
  4. well according to this - http://mobile.nufc.co.uk/default.aspx?s=news-display&aid=4116120 Newcastle have 'sold out' 2300 tickets which I guess means they are only taking the smaller allocation and block 43 will be opened up to saints fans, shame as that seems to dilute the atmosphere a bit when that happens. I had a quick look on the saints ticket website and sales seem to be going well, not sure if that is due to the new found optimism of the fan base or the offer of family fun day but either way will be good to have a full house to welcome the new signings. I reckon it will be a tight 1-0
  5. surprising, for them to be offering pay on the day we must be a fair way short of selling the 1800 , for a Saturday 3pm game in London , can't imagine Saints will bother taking the bigger allocations for any games this season on that basis then.
  6. perhaps we sold the intitial allocation, took the rest but are now well short of selling those ? we took the bigger allocation there last season.
  7. Unfortunately it won't be mate, having spoken to a Spurs fan at work just now the following will happen; Spurs win tonight to go through to group stages of Europa League. That will mean they play in that on Thursday 18th September pushing their league game back to Sunday 21st September. Spurs will play at home Wednesday 24th so we will be Tuesday 23rd . having looked at the draw again I would not be surprised if our game is chosen for sky. (Spurs going through tonight will also mean our game there in October will also be on a Sunday)
  8. Point being you're boring everyone with nonsense about it being a bad draw. COVENTRY took about 8k recently in the cup , we'll be entitled to a similar number of cheap tickets, no excuse not to do it really especially for the fans who moan they can never get tickets for Arsenal.
  9. To be honest I think the writing has been on the wall since his violent attack on the chapel stand at Spurs at home.
  10. Spurs away definitely was not sold out last season, plenty of empty seats in our end. As was Chelsea the year before (midweek game)

    Shane Long

Top post, its really sad that some people on here literally cannot wait for us to get turned over at Liverpool on Sunday so they can rush on here claiming vindication for all the attacks on the board and our lack of signings (which is now becoming wrong type of signing) I actually think Long will do a good job for us and his attributes are what we need as a team, the reported price seems high but thats one of those things. People are talking about us as if we won the league and are now disappearing into a relegation battle, when the truth is we were 8th last year and I can see us finishing anywhere between 8th -12th this year. Not much in it. One poster (SaintChris I think) sounds like he's almost in tears over the signing, get a grip you plonker.
  12. You paid the booking fee due to buying over the phone, there is no booking fee when buying in person at the ticket office so anyone buying today might as well do it at the ground.
  13. Having googled it they have over 1600 going, enough to have a fair number on the train through Southampton anyway
  14. Pleased to see healthy ticket sales, and with good weather and prices I reckon there will be a big walk up taking us towards 18k. Word of warning for anyone on the train, the skates are away to Exeter with over 1000 travelling. Our late kick off means they'll be passing back through Southampton central about an hour after our game finishes. (I remember that happening before when we played Man City on a Saturday evening)
  15. No - could buy as many as you wanted last season as long as they all had enough away games on the customer number.
  16. He's another fu (king MERCENARY trying to get his way to a big pay day. Prats on here supporting him, what the f*ck do you actually want? Him to leave? These rats who have jumped ship deserve as much abuse as possible when we meet them next season
  17. ah i was wondering if we had Cortese's holiday bum chum to thank for more insight
  18. on the basis that you are not Poch i put it to you that you are completely basing that on your assumptions, and to further your pro cortese / anti new board agenda. you have no way of knowing what his intentions were. What we do know is in May last year he said he would leave if Cortese did, so we are better off without him as his heart clearly isn't in it. Better off with a new man in to take us forward.
  19. i certainly won't be cheering Poch when he returns to St Marys next season, will get the same treatment as Hoddle and Redknapp from me, he has been playing a game all along, from May 13th last year - "Asked if he would be staying if Cortese left, the Argentinian said: "Of course not, because the person that has put his faith in me in this club and as a manager is Nicola Cortese" so who cares about him, he was never interested in building a relationship with the fans or establishing himself for the long term at the club, i believe he has been looking at leaving for the last 12 months. looking forward to the new manager being appointed who might actually want to be here.
  20. other than St Charlie and friends coming on here at every opportunity to post links to newspaper speculation and attempt to whip up anti-board feeling. here we go, the end is nigh, this wouldn't have happened if Cortese was here, waaaaaaah waaaaah . dry your eyes chaps. i can imagine Charlie stomping his feet shouting "its not fair"
  21. Don't lie, you can't wait for them to leave so you can continue your board bashing and proclaim that this would never have happened under Nik Nak
  22. but Poch said he doesn't want Europa league, all the talk is of the Champions League, so if we want to give the top 4 "decent crack" it will take a lot more than just holding on to players, it would need millions invested, and a huge increase in the wage bill.
  23. No chance. amazes me how clueless some people are, he has never put a penny of his own money into the club, he drew a salary dwarfing that of many of the premier league chairman, and he lived a lavish lifestyle off the expenses bill of the club. i'd rather have Kat in charge who has actually invested a considerable sum of her money , and for that we should show her some respect rather than lapping up Nik Naks propaganda.
  24. Excellent news, really pleased for Schneiderlin to have recognition at international level at last, would be great if a twist of luck he was able to be promoted to the 23 and get over to Brazil. Talking to a couple of lads at work in London (Italian & German) both watch loads of football on tv , its definitely noticable how well known our players are now and how often the name of Southampton FC is mentioned in foreign press, Ralph Kruger said he wanted to increase our commercial operations and surely this World Cup is a golden opportunity to do this. Players involved with Japan, Uruguay, Croatia, France, news of Osvaldo missing out with Italy, all our England boys, theres never been a better opportunity to attract global interest plus players like Boruc being a big name in Poland. If this World Cup can create a feelgood factor like Italia 90 or Euro 96 the clubs marketing department should be ready to cash in.
