  1. Anyone who doesn't give Shane long motm is a serious **** wit. First half the man gave a masterclass in doing the absolute best you can . Toby was different class and well done to Harrison Reed. I realised today what a fantastic manager Ron is, he changed the shape and got a great result . Great Xmas present
  2. This just about sums him up
  3. Following n from the above, Stephen Stills can still nail it at nearly 70.
  4. Talking of Woodstock, this is a fantastic track with great guitar. The riff at the start is one of the best IMO.
  5. Their injury record is worse than ours.
  6. Pelle has to play even if it means missing Palace. We'll have victor and Morgan back for that one and maybe Tadic. Part of playing in English football is playing with knocks and when you're tired. Lambert didn't miss too many and provided playing is not going to put him out for weeks Pelle needs to play through whatever knock he's got.
  7. It is possible to get at their back four , but I'm not sure we have the players to do so. The full backs push high up the pitch and leave space in the channel . You'll get a lot of joy if you can move the centre halfs into wide positions, Barry is the cover , but he's not really quick enough. The problem we have is Pelle doesnt work the channels and run in behind, so Jags and The Skate will love playing up against him. Long has the movement, but Pelle is a better player. If we play the pace of long or Mane wide, they'll end up chasing their full backs back towards their own goal. Tadic isn't quick enough and because of that Barry will be able to get into defensive positions and cover. I have the awful feeling that we'll play right into their hands , Barry getting around Pelle , so he can't bring it down and the centre halfs winning stuff in the air. We won't be able to break quickly enough to use the space behind the full back and our wide men will spend most of the time in our own half . If we go 4-4-2 we could use long to shift the centre halfs wide, but Coleman and Baines will get 2 on 1's as our wide men will have to tuck in otherwise their 3 in centre mid will pass us to death. I really think they're the worst team we could be facing with all these players missing as we need to have the control of the ball that Morgan and Victor give us. We'll fall between 2 stools , unable to control possession but equally unable to hit them on the break. Unless somebody does something special or they make a mistake. I can't see us scoring. I hope I'm wrong ,but this could be a frustrating afternoon. At the risk of sound like Dinosaur Dave Merrington , we really need to make this a battle and see if they fancy it.
  8. Right up to the end I was sure they were going to find out that Georges had lied to Alain and the Romanians had sold him on from the house and not killed him. I thought the Russian bit would have tied into this and the next series wouilkd have joined the dots , and his search via Romania and Russia. It was only when the Russian said to the little boy that " he's done this to children in x,y, and z "that I thought perhaps he'd lost his mind. The Telegraph reviewer stated that Tony himself had etched the figure in the icy window and that it was portraying his refusal to accept the truth. The whole thing had turned him crazy. It was a great piece of drama as it left me still thinking about the conclusion and what it meant hours afterwards. Im not a great fan of the BBC , but that matched any of the great american TV dramas of recent years. I thought it even better than Broadchurch and James Nesbitt was absolutely superb.
  9. One alternative could be a change of wife. Lol I'm lucky as Mrs Duck doesn't drink, the odd Baileys now and then but that's it. We used to have a group of 4 of us who went out every Saturday and took it in turns being the designated driver, so you drove once every month. I used to get so ****ed off when it was my turn that I started dropping them off in town and picking them up at chucking out time, so I didnt have to spend all night sober hanging around with drunk twts. A couple of annoying rides home and I gave that idea a miss, I started paying for a taxi when it was my turn to drive. What about orange juice and lemonade
  10. Sorry, just re read the op. Different characters and situation , so obviously not a continuation. Just wish they'd let us know what happened to the body.
  11. Worked the night shift last night but just watched it on virgin + . I would say they've hedged their bets and could easily run a second series. The only evidence he's dead is Alain said he was and he was told by Georges that he had seen the body .But there was no body found. It is a bit of a stretch , but I can see a story line where the Romanian sold him on. The Russian part opens that up as well. I guess the hard part is getting a believable piece of evidence that makes Tony start searching again, like seeing the scarf in the picture at the start.
  12. I'm with Pap on this one . Surely if you're going to not drink alcohol , then you go for something that tastes nice. Why go for something that looks like beer or lager but tastes like shiete ? I really don't get it. I can't remember the last time I went into a boozer and didn't have a few pints. It seems a bit strange to me, surely it's like visiting a whorehouse and having a wnk. I've always found pubs terribly boring without a few noggins inside of me, but each to their own.
  13. If anybody thinks gaston would have made the slightest bit of difference on a cold and horrible night in Sheffield, or Burnley for that matter , they are deluded.
  14. You've hit the nail on the head , this is the standard of political debate nowadays. Motherhood and apple pie politics. I don't know who said it, but someone once said that if you can't argue the opposite side, then its a meaningless political statement , not a solution or idea. Because of my shift patterns I watch " Daily politics" quite a lot and 80% of statements made by politicians are statements that everyone can agree with. Not because they're right, but because they are meaningless slogans. " We want a decent education for all our kids" , whose going to say we don't. Listen to anyone talking about the NHS and then try and take a contrary position, you'll find you can't. " We want more nurses" , as if anybody is going to argue " no we want less" . There maybe a fake argument around the ways of conning us out of more money to pay for their pet schemes , but overall there are no longer any fundamental ideological differences between the established parties. Brand typifies the new political debate in this country. Anybody can point and describe what's wrong, anybody can throw slogans around to get cheers from their side of the argument. Ordinary Joes in the pub can tell you what's wrong, people on political shows should give you their considered and thought out solutions.
  15. I really don't know what's happened to the BBC's political output. Newsnight is a pale shadow of its former self , "This week" is childish in the extreme and QT is pathetic. The Daily Politics is a great show , but even Sunday Politics is slipping downhill. Why they keep having people like Nick Watt and Toynbee giving us their wisdom . Andrew Neil is fighting against the tide on those programmes .
  16. As one of only 3 Mangers to get us promoted to the top flight , he will always be a legend to me. Of course he's not Ted or Lawrie, but the championship season was one of the most enjoyable I can remember in 40 odd years of following the club.
  17. The whole programme is now a ****ing joke. Why on earth are the BBC giving slots on it to people like Brand,Janet Street Porter, Piers Morgan and Joey Barton. Robin Day will be turning in his grave. The audience is full of plants , the old bat with the stupid hair was a political activist and the bloke with the stick who shut Brand up was the brother of a UKIP mep. It used to be a programme with serious politicians and political commentators.Dimble is hopeless, it needs a rebrand . I'd get Andrew Neil to host, get serious guests and get the audience to ask the questions then STFU, I don't want their ****ing opinion. As for the show, it was pretty pathetic. Dimble lost control and Brand was out of his depth. His Wolfie Smith tribute act lost its gloss after a few minutes. The biggest debating point of the week was the torture claims, but it wasn't debated. Obviously they were just looking for conflict between Brand and Nige with the 3 women patsys. The most telling thing was the advert for a Brand BBC3 show aired straight afterwards. He was on the show because the BBC have decided to invest in him. The sooner this corrupt organisation enters the real world the better. Having Brand on does the left no favours. Let's have some serious lefties on, not someone who acts like a 17 year old student.
  18. I was talking to some Swansea fans after the game at their place last season . They said he had got too big for his boots and they were hoping to see the back of him .
  19. What's was Rupes up to?
  20. It was and Carra gave him some clogg after the game
  21. Sterling has missed 2 sitters and Liverpool have defended poorly. Of course they deserve it.
  22. Lallana poor defensively, he used tho do that with us during our first season back up. He got back in to double up on the wide man, but doesn't actually affect the play. Seconds earlier he played a great ball for Sterling to miss a sitter. That's football lol. Tactical genius Brenda's keeper dives out the way. Good call Bren.
  23. I'm looking forward to him playing in a 3 with Glen Johnson. It should be a disaster, but you know what footballs like, it'll probably work and Brenda hailed as tactical genius. Fingers crossed its a screw up.
  24. It's the interchanging and movement that's lacking . The front 3 play in straight lines , which makes it easy to defend against . Pelle and Tadic should watch videos of Adam and Rickie from last season . Pelle got a pretty decent touch , but doesn't seem to move the centre halfs out of their comfort zones , and create space for runners to arrive late . Long has the movement , but not the technique . As we saw with England and when he played down the middle J rod isn't the same player unless he's interchanging and coming off the flank and interchanging with others, so I'm not convinced he'll make that much difference in this set up . I really think we underestimed the way MoPo coached the forwards last season . Going forward I'd suggest if we're going to play Pelle, then the player in the further forward of the midfield 3 needs to be a more attacking player than Steve Davis and one that will get in behind them and move the centre halves a bit. More of a 4-4-1-1 than a 4-3-3 . I know it's getting dangerously close to Dave Merrington 2 up top territory , but we are easy to defend against at the moment
  25. I thought listening to Merrington was bad enough , but reading some of the comments on here are doing my head in. We are amongst the also rans that inhabit the region of 7-15 in the premiership along with your Stokes, Swansea's , West Hams and Newcastle's of the world. Never really in danger of going down , but no chance if top 4/5 . Teams at that level will always lose the occasional game at places like Burnley and will have runs of defeats. Who remembers losing to Cardiff, Norwich last year? Why don't people just calm down and chill out. We have a quarter final at a 3rd division side, we have a home fa cup draw and have enough points in the bag to stay up easily , oh and we're 5th in the league , above spurs, Liverpool and Arsenal. Let's win at Sheff and then we'll have a two legged semi final to look forward to. That'll make a nice Xmas for me, even if we lose to Everton.
