Should have had penalties in away matches against Norwich, Stoke and Everton as well.

Global warming really is happening... (well, duh!)

John Terry has small erection. Lol -
Just finished watching an episode of Storyville, a documentary series on BBC 4, that looks at the South Sudan national football team. As you might imagine for the world's youngest country, born of a brief hiatus in regional warfare and 98% reliant on oil exports to its uneasy divorcee in the north, it's all a far cry from the world inhabited by Rooney and other such gormless, perfumed ponces. Anyway, it's about more than football and it's certainly not just Cool Runnings on grass /dust. From the mad Serbian coach, the striker with over fifty siblings, the vice President with the huge gold watch, the spectre of malaria and the struggle for basic infrastructure it's well worth a watch. Highly recommended.

BBC 4 certainly has the best documentaries on UK TV. Excluding sports coverage, the Channels I watch the most are probably Sky Atlantic, BBC 4 and Channel 4, with a fair smattering of BBC 2. The Light Channel and BBC 3 are simply ghastly.

Lallana and Welbeck were much better than Rooney, Wilshere and Sturridge. Don't quite get all the praise Sterling is receiving - I thought he was very average.

Should MP drop Lambert for the Palace game!
benjii replied to SOTONS EAST SIDE's topic in The Saints
Exactly! We need a better one! -
I'm sceptical of the long- term value in the annuity market but if you can afford to put a small amount away each month you might as well. With tax relief and employer's contributions it probably represents value and it's a hassle free process. Your money will go into long-term structured funds and you won't need to make investment "decisions" as such and you will avoid the temptation of saving nothing. No doubt Dune will be on soon saying pensions are for mugs and you should buy shares or some *** will come and tell you that they invest in property instead (like that's an option for most people).

Should MP drop Lambert for the Palace game!
benjii replied to SOTONS EAST SIDE's topic in The Saints
Would anyone be happy if we started next season and he was our main striker? Honestly, I doubt many would. We need someone who presents a goal threat against the better teams and, other than from dead balls, Rickie simply doesn't. He can still be a valuable squad player though, no doubt. As for should he start against Palace... Dunno. Jay Rod's touch isn't generally good enough to play as lone striker. Is Gallagher good enough to start PL games regularly yet? I don't know but I would be inclined to try to find out. -
Would be refreshing if someone from "Kick it Out" or something similar would release a statement along the lines of: Sol Campbell does nothing for our cause by playing the race-card in a cynically commercial manner. We have no evidence whatsoever of institutional racism within the FA or of political involvement in team selections. Instead, you get unthinking simpletons like Blisset and Roberts trying to defend this nonsense.

If Lambert wasn't playing so terribly and Osvaldo hadn't been a budgie there would be no need to rush him in. Ridiculous to judge him yet.

Mauricio Pochettino staying as Southampton manager - Official

There it is! Mr Predictable strikes again. -
Been obvious for months that Lambert is the weak link.

Don't worry, we'll just go with Super F**** and Stevie G. Works every time.
-
He looked like one of our best players in the match against Charlton too. A little like Nathan Dyer in style and build. One to keep an eye on f'sure.
-
Cheers all. Minty, I might give your pal a buzz too.

Is he talking about your criminal underworld chums?

I have a similar predicament and would also be keen to hear of any good people who can install a post and a couple of panels.

Surely indicates there are no plans to sell.

My team: Hart Clyne Cahill Jagielka Baines - - - - Carrick - - Henderson- - Ox-C- - - Wilshere- - - Lallana - - - - - - - Rooney- - - - - - - - IMO Gerrard gives the ball away too much to be a starter but could make a great impact later on in games. That midfield has enough about it to retain the ball, be combative and counter quickly. I don't think Sturridge should start. He's too selfish and immature in the way he plays for top level internationals at the moment. The rest of my squad would be: Foster, Forster Walker, Smalling, Cole Gerrard,Cork,Townsend, Johnson Welbeck, Sturridge, Carroll
-
Assuming we don't sell anyone important, my priorities would be, in order: 1 Striker 2 GK 3 Centre back 4 Attacking midfielder If Gaston leaves then number 4 becomes number 2 as Lallana would be the sum total of our creativity.

It appears Sir Rickie is not playing to his usually high standards
benjii replied to Rasiak-9-'s topic in The Saints
Absolutely right. Here's a simple thought experiment: Would you be happy if we start next season and the best striker at the club is Rickie Lambert? Presumably, people who think he has been good this season wouldn't see that as a problem. Honestly though, I wonder how many people could answer, "yes". Repeat the experiment at centre back, full- back centre mid etc. and I think it starts to become clear where our weak links are. -
You have no business with modern elite football. You ought to go and watch lower leagues. Seriously, you would prefer it. Seriously.

The real reason that we sacrificed the cups...
benjii replied to Unbelievable Jeff's topic in The Saints
Assuming, for a moment, this were true and Pochettino was incentivized solely on league position and not cup performance then he would be justified in prioritising the league as that's clearly what his employer wants (or rather, what it wanted when it concluded his contract). At the end of the day, if Lambert doesn't miss a sitter or Wanyama flattens Gardner (incidentally, two culprits who are very much part of the strongest eleven) we might all be looking forward to the replay and there would be none of this piffle. -
I wouldn't waste money on legal advice unless you are very senior. Prima facie, the clause is not enforceable. Your employer would have to go the trouble of convincing a judge that it should be enforced. If you're not a director or senior manager, the chances are that the restriction will be void. The chance of your current employer actually spending time and money attempting to enforce it will also be very small unless you are of genuine strategic importance to them.

The club is no longer run FOR the fans...............
benjii replied to Fitzhugh Fella's topic in The Saints
But it took a cup defeat to figure it out? If Lambert hadn't missed that complete sitter would you still be none the wiser?! I think most people knew this about ten years ago, TBF. Maybe a football historian could shed some light?!
