  1. I don't think so. Which makes the upcoming Div 2 and Div 3 matches meaningless.
  2. Yes apparently. They only play the other 4 teams once, so Hants carry over 8.5 points and Somerset 18.5 points.
  3. Congratulations to them, I was expecting another frustrating draw. They go into the Div 1 group with a draw and a bad defeat (Somerset results carry over) so it won't be easy.
  4. And I'm wondering if that's something he could coach for the current players. They may not be as talented as him, but they are top players who surely could master this technique.
  5. Batty has only missed once, I heard.
  6. Sounds like we need a German penalty coach for the pressure part! Matt would be good for technique though.
  7. Unlike his dinosaur predecessors, Southgate at least had the squad practice penalties. That's why I was depressed but not angry by yesterday's pathetic attempts. So what can they do to get up to the German standard? I'm sure Southgate is thinking about this too. Maybe bring in a penalty coach during their daily practice. Someone with a history of hardly ever missing, who could teach them how to do it under pressure. Any suggestions?
  8. Interesting. If the referee isn't informed that may mean that Southgate could've changed his mind and told someone like Shaw to step up for the 5th. But certainly it would be up to him, not Shaw or any of the other players.
  9. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Penalty_shoot-out_(association_football) 5. Each team is responsible for selecting from the eligible players the order in which they will take the kicks. I think this means the order is set at the beginning (but I may be wrong).
  10. I think the order is set and given to the ref before they start. No changes after that.
  11. I would assume and hope that the days of volunteers is well over. And that the whole squad had practiced and was prepared, with the order more or less set ahead of time (with maybe minimal variation depending on how things had gone in the game). Look at the Utd vs Villarreal final, 21 players putting away perfect penalties. If we'd lost that way, or for example 6 to 7 with a brilliant save, fair enough. Missing 3 out of 5 is unforgivable. I feel for Pickford who did his best.
  12. They missed 2. There’s no excuse for us missing 3
  13. He did prepare. Unlike the likes of Bobby “who fancies taking one?” Robson. But apparently not well enough. If we were able to take penalties we’d have won several major tournaments. As it is we’re serial losers and the likes of Italy are serial winners.
  14. It’s like going back in time. I thought this shit was behind us
  15. Behind the sofa time
  16. It seems that Italy have had 10 subs already
  17. Glad he’s not Italian
  18. JWP would’ve buried that
  19. Good point. I wonder if getting around sell on fees by swap deals is allowed? If a club loses millions from a sell on fee in this way I could imagine they would be none too pleased, and perhaps litigate a fair sell on amount (determined by some tribunal)?
  20. This has 0-0 written all over it.
  21. Sid from Toy Story Gareth Bale
  22. If they had drawn then Hants would still be second and likely qualify with a draw. But now they have to win. No doubt the weather will intervene if a win is possible!
  23. Exactly. Grealish was still fresh
