Unlike his dinosaur predecessors, Southgate at least had the squad practice penalties. That's why I was depressed but not angry by yesterday's pathetic attempts. So what can they do to get up to the German standard? I'm sure Southgate is thinking about this too. Maybe bring in a penalty coach during their daily practice. Someone with a history of hardly ever missing, who could teach them how to do it under pressure. Any suggestions?

I would assume and hope that the days of volunteers is well over. And that the whole squad had practiced and was prepared, with the order more or less set ahead of time (with maybe minimal variation depending on how things had gone in the game). Look at the Utd vs Villarreal final, 21 players putting away perfect penalties. If we'd lost that way, or for example 6 to 7 with a brilliant save, fair enough. Missing 3 out of 5 is unforgivable. I feel for Pickford who did his best.
