'Welcome to Portsmouth'

It's pretty obvious that Cortese tries to save as many pennies as possible (to the extreme in some cases). It might seem cold but let's be honest - he doesn't really give a toss as long as it's of the benefit to the club.

Some Tweets Saying We Have Borrowed Against Future Season Ticket Sales
Saint_lambden replied to Gemmel's topic in The Saints
But he said that about 2 years ago now if memory serves me correctly (was after Adkins had come in, interview with Dan Roan) Maybe the situation has changed and plan B doesn't exist anymore? -
It's a marketing exercise they just never thought through.

They were fond years but the whole point of football (well, sport) is to try and be the best. It may have been more entertaining in the Championship but surely anyone with a brain cell, if asked, would logically chose the Premier League over the Championship. That's without even getting into the new TV deal that, if we stay up, we'll get a share of If I remember rightly.

Yeah, I'd much rather be in a lower league.....
-
I think we all would.

Who the captain is really isn't our issue right now. Adkins works with Adam everyday so he must have been pretty sure that he was ready. It probably doesn't help that Adam is the 4th captain we've had in the space of the past 2 years but he's a regular in the side, works as hard as any other player and knows the values of the club blah blah... Would be handy if he could play in defence right now, though.

Steven or Kelvin?

Bugger! -
Fully deserved. Hope a certain Mr Lambert is next.

Well he's not Messi, is he? The poster said, rightly so, that form should count in this case and that Puncheon deserves to start. We play Arsenal on 15th September whilst Ramirez is likely to feature in Uruguay's game against Ecuador on 11th September so the earliest he will meet up with the squad is probably Thursday 13th after a lot of travelling. It makes sense to play Puncheon over Ramirez for this game. Why you brought up Messi I'll never know.

We really needed a CM on the bench yesterday because JWP was knackered by the end. He was terrific but I think he started to cramp up by 75 minutes.

I think they know it's sh1t. Most of the clubs do but they're stuck with it for now, unless they and us want to pay a massive fee to get out of the contract.
-
3-1 United. We'll give it a good go but they'll be too strong. Expecti it to be about October before we fully get going with the new signings.
-
Alex Ferguson. He's just trying to wind us up ahead of Sunday.

That @dimarziotweet said on the end of one of his recent articles (about 10/15 minutes ago) that the meeting is to finalise things. Sorry I can't post the link, am at work. Edit: Scrap that, link: fb.me/26hVDP0lr

He just completely lost confidence at the end of last season. For example - against Pompey at home - he was through on goal and instead of sticking his foot through when less than 10 yards out, he didn't look up and instead squared it. It all seemed to go downhill after a similar situation in that 2-2 home draw with Blackpool where one touch led to a poor rest of the season. We'd just made it 2-2 and he's racing down the right with 2/3 men open at the back post and a heavy touch meant the ball went out for a goal kick. Fans got on his back etc etc.... He'd probably still be a good player in the Championship if he started afresh at a new club but I suspect we'll want in the region of £500k for him considering the length of his contract. Got nothing against the lad, he's just not good enough for the Premier League and a loan would only be a temporary solution. Thanks for that goal at Reading though, Steve.

Emmanuel Mayuka - Officially Signed on OS - Work Permit Confirmed
Saint_lambden replied to S-Clarke's topic in The Saints
THIS. However, those that either don't watch us or have a poor lack of knowledge on the formation we're trying to play will dismiss it. We're getting there. -
He'd probably be hacked off if he was you, as well.

Gustavo D. Palacios @ guspalacios7 The # Southampton achieved a record deal by Gaston Ramirez, the payment would be 11 MDL or 13.2 MDE for # Bologna x Uruguayan # MercadoFutbol James Smith @J5mith1997 @guspalacios7 Do you know when it will go through Gus? Gustavo D. Palacios @guspalacios7 @J5mith1997 hello James, its done.

I think that was Yoshida, the CB. Mayuka is a winger/striker.

Expects deals for Ramirez and Mayuka to go through soon, for the record.
