Born in Weymouth, my Dad was an Arsenal supporter so that was NEVER gonna happen, I had to support someone different. Chose Liverpool when I was about 7 or 8 but the week before the 76 Cup Final we all went to Saints V Hull at The Dell, (my uncle was a regular since 1966) and The Saints won 1-0 with Bobby Stikes scoring - a dress rehersal for the following week as it turned out !! Anyway, I was hooked from then on really, although it was a couple of years later I started going regularly. As for Dad, well I converted him, we became Season Ticket Holders in about 1979 and I have been ever since. The old man dipped out for a few years but has been a Season Ticket holder in The Kingsland with me for the past 5 or 6 years. The Saints are now his team as well.......so **** you Arsene Wenger !!!!!!

When you say the club will hopefully return to past values in years to come I assume you are talking about the values held by the club, or its board, up to the early 80's and not after then, because if you are I have no desire for the club to ever be run by people like Guy Askham again !! If you are talking about the George Reader's of this world then fine but I fear that type of gentleman is no longer present in any club, let alone Southampton. Dave Whelan at Wigan is possibly the closest you will come to that old school. I do sympathise with the increase the 60-65 age bracket have suffered, indeed I e mailed the club and expressed my opinion that those in that age range on the database that are already Season Ticket Holders should be ring fenced and treated as over 65's until the time came they were physically that age. May I remind you, as I was reminded by a friend of mine who is in the 60-65 bracket, when Cortese and Markus came into the club that is when, in the first season, ticket prices for Season Tickets were cut dramatically and I believe the OAP rate was dropped from 65 to 60. So for two seasons you have had your tickets at a comparative bargain. The status quo for OAP prices has now simply been returned.

I was told back in May that we would be giving the current squad a fair chance at proving themselves in the Championship and would only be signing 2 or 3 players. Pretty much the same thing would/will happen next season. If we have not gone up this season or next then big money will be thrown in to the pot in order to gain promotion in the third season, or the 5th in the 5 year plan. This came from Cortese at a dinner with club sponsors - wether that is aap3 or not I do not know - which was attended by a mate of my old man. Of course when I posted it back in May I was shouted down. Do it again if you like but thats what I have heard, it makes perfect sense to me and I have no reason to doubt it. Patience is a virtue.

The one thing that makes me wonder if this is as good as a done deal is that during the interview on Friday NA actually mentions having a bid accepted for Jack Cork. It seems an unusual thing to do as the normal reaction is to deflect a question about a specific player with the usual "we dont talk about individuals, we are looking to bring someone into the building" etc etc The only individuals normally mentioned are definite no no's like Sharp and Riise.
