good lord, do you actually think abusive chants are not more offensive? The worst word is one in "boyfriend", but people will spend time on social media crying about that rather than chants that include frequent swearing. The mind boggles.
-
Not really. People just need to stop being snowflakes. Its getting pretty embarrassing these days. "Does your boyfriend know you're here?" is not homophobic. In fact the ones who make these issues and highlight divisions unnecessarily are the ones that help worsen discrimination. I wonder how many Brighton fans were actually upset by that particular chant? When fan's come to sms and chant, "your support is ****ing ****" - that is more offensive. grow a pair.
-
I actually don't see how it can be received as anything other than banter... there is no offensive phrase in it... (I am talking about, "does your boyfriend know you're here", not anything else that may have been chanted). Its not like the hissing that goes on against Tottenham for example, something that is truly shocking.

Love how those hating MoPey and were so quick to; judge him, condemn him, and condemn those of us who saw his potential, are now starting to see light at the end of the tunnel (technically still the start!). The fact is that there was some frankly laughable/embarrassing knee jerkiness from the majority of the fanbase after LESS THAN TEN GAMES. I maintain that he shows promise and deserves time and backing to prove it. Sadly we have a lot of impatient fans and I hope the recent matches show them that we have an intelligent and tactical manager who will get the best out of what he has available. And more importantly that he needs backing!! Unfortunately I know that some of them are probably the same fans that will bemoan his lack of loyalty if he were to leave us after a season of success. To call this hypocritical would be one spectacular understatement.

Hush Duncan, you can't say that on here!!!

I agree, the Everton game reminded me somewhat of Adkins first prem win vs Villa. A bit of a watershed moment for this team and manager. Not saying we'll beat city, but I think we will certainly go there and give a good account of ourselves. Really don't understand a lot of our fans atm, they can all see the weaknesses in the actual team (attack, goalkeeper), but they then blame the manager when we struggle to break down teams that purely defend at SMS... You have to give the man time, and you need to hope that whatever happens, the Saints board spend some money on a top notch striker in January. Saints need a reliable (sadly not Austin) strong front man who can hold the ball up, join up play, and finish!! Get that and we will be a very effective side.

Mopey is staying for a while yet Dodd
-
So, Les Reed's fault then?
-
People think PEH was man of the match? Seriously? No way we would have won that match without Austin, nor cedric, not bertrand.
-
The negativity on this place is embarrassing. James Warde Prowse and Charlie Austin both had good games today, as did PEH. All should be included more regularly (admitted PEH has tough competition). The team today had much greater balance.

I'll trust an experienced ex pro's viewpoint over your abusive tone personally Beyond me how people think Puel's football was good at saints. It was ****ing dire. Why do we have so many negative fans and posters giving out so much abuse to other fans and the club. Its like they're having wet dreams over us struggling, that or they feel entitled as fans, and are now turning on the club and other fans like rabid dogs because they aren't delivering the feel good times the've become used to.:
-
Listened to the game on the radio. They were frequently talking about how boring and terrible Leicester's football was, described it as some of the worst football they've seen, and spent about 10min on the bounce talking about the west ham crowd during the second half. It was pure ****.

Well, he is changing things up most games which shows he is trying to adapt. And he is clearly intelligent and analytical about the game. I honestly don't think he has the players to play how he wants and has found the premiership a steep learning curve which he has somewhat wasted on rigid tactics. The confidence has now drained from the team (and perhaps him as well), and he is going into a tough run of games. I think (and hope) that if we stick with him, he will come good. It also annoys me that the fans are blaming the manager when at least he is mixing things up, when in reality all of us can see the glaring weaknesses in the team (that have not been addressed over yet another wasteful summer), and when the fans have lambasted plenty of previous managers for sticking religiously to just one lineup for loss after loss after loss. I'd stick with MoPey so far, but I would expect an upturn in performances (if not results) by christmas. If that doesn't happen then i'll be worried.

Sadly, it's clear that we have fans that do want us to struggle and be relegated... some so that they can go, "i told you so", some so that they can get cheaper tickets, and some because they think we'll automatically compete at the top end of the league below... because that is always the case?!?!?!
-
Its hard to go to a game knowing our fellow fans want us to struggle, get relegated, and endure a bad atmosphere around the team. All so they can watch us play a worse standard of football.... I'll support the club through thick and thin, not just lose interest whilst we struggle; only to come back if we end up in the 3rd tier and start winning again. And the minimum expectation and ambition for a club of our size, history and standing is to be in the premier league. It shows a complete lack of ambition and passion to not be the best we can be. And if the fans set that level of expectation, passion and interest then they can hardly turn around and moan when the team struggles.
-
Imagine if he turns into a good manager for us...
-
Do you think, that if we win, this place will calm down a bit? I certainly hope so! Also, I think we will win. 2-0 to saints. Yes, I did just predict an opposition team won't score against us....
-
Why would you want to be the 6th - 8th best team in the country with a chance of winning a serious cup final when you could be playing AFC wimbledon and Fleetwood Town. Literally this is beyond pathetic as a mindset. Life got hard, so lets go bully some smaller clubs and feel good about ourselves. Fortunately the 32k fans who turned out to watch us beat Coventry one sunny May afternoon know what it is all about. OFC, you would rather be coventry and competing at the upper echelons of the 4th tier. Do you people hear yourselves?
-
What was it, 7 former (or current) u21's played in that match or something. Shame Koeman fell out with Reed/Tadic etc. Club has imploded since then.
-
If we are going to sack the manager, I'd sack him for a half competent loyalist. I'd rather we supported the manager and give him decent players. And I'd rather we got rid of pretty much our entire top order board wise. I'd far rather we did that than anything else tbh. Stale, stagnant and old at the top... and its showing now at all levels of the club. Well, except the clubs advertising, we are quite good at youtube videos...

Well said Duncan, the ones who want relegation or a relegation scrap are frankly being dullards. What they want is to win, and they're grumbling about supporting a team that isn't. They rather be **** (and win), than be good. Its a joke. What fans want is to see saints playing kids, attacking football, and upsetting the big teams. That would keep the fans happy. Anything above 12th would keep the fanbase content with those things delivered. What we would love is what we've had since 2010 - 2016.
