The minority might, but i suspect the majority would say it's a classless gesture and that someone would have a word with him about. A slight smirk (which would be JWPs bag i suspect) is fair game, but that pathetic little hand waving thing....i don't think many would lap that up.

Welcome home Graziano..

Southampton 0-1 Newcastle League Cup Semi Final 1st Leg

Thought Al Catraz was by and large excellent. Yes he misplaced a few passes but didn't look at all out of place, and we may have a gem on our hands there. -
Southampton 0-1 Newcastle League Cup Semi Final 1st Leg

Only saw it on TV, but it's the same Diallo we get every week. his break up play is pretty effective.....but by and large his distribution is terrible. It's great to win the ball, but he often then gives it away in really dangerous phases of play, with players committed forward leaving us back peddling like crazy. He could do with being tied to someone who can pass the ball on his behalf. -
We could do with Pierre-Emerick AuBambaDieng.

Southampton 0-1 Newcastle League Cup Semi Final 1st Leg

If we want to keep possession, probably should give Diallo a rest......for about 18 games. -

Just finished watching / listening to this week's episode. A good listen as always.

Apparently the fans always hold hands when the come to SMS too, so the fact that it’s a very friendly place to live must be a big draw to players.

Very rarely am I still angry/chewing over a defeat at 10am the next day, but here I sit still pissed right off. I get the sentiment that we were largely awful yesterday, but it is perfectly possible for a team to be terrible and still get a jammy win. The VAR check and general officiating has (in my opinion) cost us that, or at least a point. Would it paper over cracks? Of course it would in the short term, but it’s the points we need. Yesterday, I wouldn’t have cared how we got there if we could have just got the win. For all we know Ings or Wood wouldn’t have chosen us over WH or NF, but it was another example of needing a proven PL forward. Opinion is divided on Ings, and I don’t have a dewy eyed fondness of him, but he will get you goals and I think as watching fans we’d all have been buzzing to know that the bloke up top can finish and get a goal from nothing. Big week for SR, but I fear it could be too little too late.

Martinez is a world class cnut that’s for sure. Utter helmet.
-
Exactly this - I counted at least 3 times he gave possession away in really dangerous areas of the pitch, and what were really quite straight forward sideways passes. He needs to have someone running next to him to be effective. That way he can win the ball and someone else can pass it for him.

It was utterly ridiculous. Those booing probably spend most of the game watching it through the camera on their phone.....what is it with people and filming/photographing everything these days? I noticed against Forest that as soon as JWP got that free kick, loads of Forest fans got their phones out to film it. It's good to talk. Feel better now.

Let’s hope he doesn’t play like Ekambi on ice.
-
Better than Ings? The bottom club in the league? Who we know can score goals in the premier league? You never know I suppose, and I admire the optimism!
-
Surely Ings would be a no brainer - he's proven in the PL unlike the others being linked with......we don't have the time to hope that someone can score in this league. If he's fit, just get it done.

Get fucking in there!!!!!!

Feel like switching it off. Just can’t watch.

Haven’t felt this nervous before a game in a long time. Might have to put something other than milk on my coco pops.

Amended for you!

Only just looked at this thread properly - that looks like some scarring around his left knee.....i thought most knee op's these days wouldn't be quite so invasive but that looks like hatchet job!

I agree, managers do need time - but the fan base had every right to question his appointment having seen a load of disorganised hoof ball especially against Forest.....Jonny Wilkinson would have been well at home in our back line for the first few games. It was dire and the concern and vitriol directed at NJ was mainly down the brand of football we were seeing and the general impotence of the side. Even when we've been terrible over the past few years, it's not been that terrible. At least we were trying to actually use the midfield. Last night was a breath of fresh air, so let's hope the tide is turning - the added bonus of the cup games is that it gives extra time for new faces to gel and to get some rhythm.....but personally, i'd rather the manager rise above it in interviews and stop biting back at the fans and comments made by outsiders. It'll only be worse for him if things don't pick up in the league.

Saints 2-0 Man City - The Treble is STILL on!
LeBizzier69 replied to Lighthouse's topic in The Saints
Whatever the result from here, that should be a real shot in the arm for confidence. Cracking half of football and long balls to a minimum! -
Agree, but the issue now is it’ll have to be someone who’s been playing regularly and match fit if they’re going to start on Saturday….and not someone who’s been sat on the bench all season hence why they’re looking for a move. They really would need to join and hit the ground running immediately if we can use them this weekend.

I just wish we’d stop the “you fat bar steward” chant when keepers take a goal kick. They’re not fat, not remotely. Back to the old “your sh1t aaaahhhh” is far better.
