If we're supposed to get excited for this new guy on the basis that he got to the Champions League semi final then forgive my scepticism, after all that's an achievement that David O'leary managed, and of course Roberto Di Matteo & Avram Grant went one better and made the final. Would we be happy with one of those 3 for our new manager, because I wouldn't.

Jay Rod and Austin to destroy the Prem next season :)
bpsaint replied to Roboze's topic in The Saints
J-Rod took some kind of knock against City in a tussle with Nasri and worryingly he was neither seen of nor spoken of ever since, thought at least we'd get an update on his condition but no. Hope I'm wrong but I think he'll be another Michael Svensson -
How is it that a team finishing third benefits from an easier run through the rounds? Seems a bit backwards somewhat. Nice to see Ireland take the lead, why the **** did ITV give Andy Townsend his job back though.
-
I really thought when he got suspended for the last time last season that we'd push on without him and be ok, but I'll never forget how his introduction against Liverpool completely changed the game and made me realise just how important he is to us. He will be a huge loss, and tough to replace.
-
He's actually made a positive change! Perhaps he does have a set of balls after all.

Forster would have saved that.

The 'Ted Bates Trust', never was there a more ill fitting name for the group of fans dealing with the creation of the statue. I remember passing the next morning on the way to Sunday morning footy and being so shocked I turned round for another look. Was by far one of the funniest threads to appear on this site, as some people were trying to defend it at first before the reality set it and the hilarity started. Thanks to Leon Crouch for sorting out the debacle and arranging the creation of a new statue to be very proud of.

Saints announce Virgin Media as new main club sponsor
bpsaint replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Don't forget the rise of in-play betting too, acceptable enough reason to be on your phone. They've got free wifi at the Etihad, very much welcome when trying to check scores at half time. With regards to Virgin Media I love the notion that every skate that subscribes is inadvertently putting their money in our clubs coffers, brilliant!! -
More annoyed than shafted really, although I'd have renewed regardless of manager.

If Dave Watson goes I wonder if the club will take the cheap option and give Kelv the backroom role he's after.

Disappointed that it's gone from Koeman confirming he'll be here next season, to being in talks for a new deal, then going to Everton in such a short space of time. Wonder if he wanted funds to take us to the next level as part of a new contract but we didn't match the ambition similar the Strachan situation so he's moving on. Perhaps it's a lot more simple and he's just a money grabbing ****. Still not convinced he's taking a step up, regardless of 'history'.

Wasn't born till the year after, but for me Marcus Bent,, 93rd minute. 'Tis why I dislike them.

Such a stupid rule, that has no benefit whatsoever.

New Sunderland kit for next season, complete with striped back I'm happy to say http://www.footballkitnews.com/18368/new-sunderland-home-strip-201617-by-adidas-revealed/

Glad Vardy scored, will make Woy look even more clueless and inept when he drops him for Rooney come the Euros. Friendly or not this has been a **** poor display by England, how the hell Sterling or Wilshere are anywhere near the team is a joke. When will ever get an England manager with the balls to pick a team on form rather than club.

David Bull's interview with Rickie Lambert and others
bpsaint replied to Fitzhugh Fella's topic in The Saints
Love to hear that a sequel to Match of The Millenium is coming out Duncan, funnily enough I was flicking through the original the other day trying to decide which games would make the cut if a new one was released, funny how that happens sometimes. Was only at a couple of the games in the original book due to age mostly, so look forward to reading about a large majority of games I would have been at. -
love it, would have been funnier if they'd scored in front of the skates though, just to see the look of dejection on the face of all those s****s, stood on the spot where we celebrated wrapping up league 1 promotion 5 years ago. A message to all those skates reading this but afraid to show their faces, I'm looking at you Corp Ho, remember how you laughed at us against Derby in 2007? Well I hope you're ****ing hurting tonight you dirty bunch of inbreds. Mind the gap, we'll send you a postcard from our European tour.

Agreed, always thought it would make sense from a business point of view to carry on what we started in 01 and wear the new kit for the final home game of the season and release it soon after. Noticed Leicester did this against Everton last week. Edit: just realised it'll be hard when there's different manufacturers involved, guess there nothing against unveiling the kit and selling it straight after the season has finished though.
-
Talking kits I see the club have re-released the sash shirt as a retro kit, along with the Friends Provident shirt of 99-01.
-
I'm sure some will be stupid enough, just look at the list of teams he joined after we booted him out. Perhaps he'll sign for River Plate for a laugh
-
The crazy thing is he'll walk into another top team once again!
-
Bit harsh on Barnard that, he was an important player for us in League 1.
