...And I am really starting to get impatient. Hell, there aren't even any small rumours going round. Someone out there must have heard something?

Even some new backroom staff, scouts, new cleaner or whatever would increase the excitement.

Prepare yourself for -

- AP has only been in the job for a few days (12 now)

- Be patient

- Window doesn’t close till end of August

- Stop moaning

- Be realistic

- Give them a chance

Welcome to the league that the media don't care about! You ain't going to hear anything until it's signed, sealed and delivered!!

When one or two deals are done, then the rest all follow (note not that many done yet) as squads get sorted, and we are lower down the food chain this year.

What is more concerning is that I am about to fork out for three S/Ts, yet what am I buying? will my team have shiny wheels and go faster stripes??!!

Rasiak & Saga off to Swansea for a combined 1 million (apparently)

John staying put.

Pardew in talks to sign a striker and defender. I don't know who just this is what I heard from my friend.

A combined million?! That's a bargain, i'd be sure Rasiak was worth that alone, but it's all the salary again isnt it.

Combined £1m, I think they're better than that. Is your friend reliable or a bullsh***er?

Better still, tell us who your friend is, by that I mean name names :D

Agreed. Take the BBC website for example, the league 1 headline story ("O'Hanlon is ruled out until 2010") hasn't changed since 3 o'clock on Monday afternoon (and who outside of Milton Keynes even gave a shxt then?!)

Saints fans everywhere are desperately hoping for news that reinforcements are on their way. We're used to decades of decent media coverage, but we've just got to used to the fact that we're outside of the 'rumour mill' thesedays.

Think its important that we keep John and Rasiak, but also sign 1 other striker, and a central defender (maybe who can also fill in at full back).

Going against the grain here, but I don't reckon we need much more than that. Think Gillett and Schneiderlin will be an excellent midfield partnership in L1, so I think midfield can be left alone. Not a priority right now.

Given all of that, we will have a sturdy, experienced back 4 with cover if/ when Thomas gets injured. We will have a midfield with a good engine (Gillett) and some good quality to unlock defences (Lallana and Schneiderlin). And we will have a strikeforce which is strong (John) and will guarantee goals (both Rasiak and John).

If we lose Rasiak, I am a bit worried about where the goals will come from, unless we punch above our weight and sign someone like Lita. Personally I would like us to try and get a big b*gger up front to give us another option. Steve Howard for example.

Then we can re-assess in Jan and if we are looking good for play-offs/ automatic promotion, re-invest then.

Big Bad Bob got it spot on above - despite our billionaire owner and Premiership class manager the media do not give a flying fook about sides in the third division. Pearson did great things with Leicester last year but received very little media coverage and not many fans at Championship clubs would have had much idea about who he signed to underpin the title win. Saints fans are fully entitled to be twitchy at the lack of signings, but should blame the Pinnacle group if anyone. Pardew is his own man and will have a firm view about who and what he needs to be able to push on for a play off place this season. Harding, an England U21 international and a proper footballing full back was a steal on a free, and I would expect two or three more like him balanced with a couple of 'big' names to whet the appetite and inspire both the youngsters and a couple of thousand more season ticket holders. It is highly likely that 'Bulldog' Downes will be AP's number 2 by the end of the week, so we have a lot to look forward to.

In terms of media neglect, SFC as a Trojan Horse could actually be a very appealling prospect...

My fear is that if we don't strenghten all round we will struggle early on and then begin to full further behind and find ourselves in a dogfight to survive. -10 is a big challenge to over haul and in my opinion we don't have enough roll up your sleeves and die for this club players by a long way.

Seems my mate was wrong on Stern staying. God i hope Pardew ties up the apparent two deals for the defender and striker. I'll not be as quick to pass on rumours as my source has been 50% with these things.

I wouldn't worry about it; I'd be surprised if anyone paid any attention to your information anyway given the amount of b*llocks that gets posted on here. And by the way, a source who is right 50% of the time sounds a lot like someone who is guessing and getting it right half the time.

in one of AP's first interviews he said I HOPE TO HAVE NEW RECRUITS IN BY THE END OF AUGUST.

Dont people listen?

I am adding my FFS!

Link to that August quote?

Only quotes I can find are

"Squad long way from being ready for Millwall" says Pardew (6 days ago)

"Wheels in motion for backroom appointments" (6 days ago)

Plus the echo said "SAINTS boss Alan Pardew is planning more signings before the season starts" (7 days ago)

We are still alive as a club with a billionare owner and a good manager :D

TBH if I was offered that 3 weeks ago I would have feinted with relief

So you would have pretended to be going one way then quickly do the opposite at the last second? Are you a boxer by any chance?

I am loving the fact that, despite him having spent getting on for a week demanding new signings and railing against any kind of waiting or patience, two people on this thread have now replied to Original_Boring_Saint's pre-emptive strike against the heinous crime of people having patience by telling him what a rational and reasonable position he's adopted, which is the exact opposite of what has been doing or wants to hear.

Make it three.
