And let's not forget we nearly did'nt have a club,Pardew has only been here a short time,we had no real pre-season and the side need time to gel....and all that.

sorry, just playing devils advocate as that is all i seem to have heard since the start of the season.

Good result against an inform side, but we need to start winning, and not what it seems, setting out for a point each game.

I'm still baffled by the timing of Pardews substitutions.

I agree that we have had excuses this season which are not really valid.

But today's was a good result and the team will have gained confidence and the formation will change as we play against inferior opposition in order to get wins.

Interestingly, we have now played four of the top six teams. A good result today, unbeaten now in four. This all clutching at straws however, we really need to get the win next Saturday.

We're getting the tough games away early - which is good.

Huddelsfield away, Millwall, Charlton away......doesn't get much harder than those (ok, leeds away will be tough, but again we can get that away early, as i think we play them in November?)

our 2nd half of the season is looking attractive...

and how great is it that the new owner makes a huge effort to come and support the team, home and away even though his investment hasn't seen too much return at the moment.. I think we are so lucky, especially looking at the blue few...onwards and upwards at last for our Saints...COYR..we are starting the climb back to the prem..

It was a bad result.

Forget the score and the fact Charlton are unbeaten, we dominated for long periods and couldn't score 2 or 3 goals.

Today was another wasted opportunity.

I'm 100% behind the club and it's so frustrating at the minute.

HUGE effort? 1 game? Via private jet etc? Not knocking him, but I'm not convinved by HUGE effot.

Well it is not like walking down the Avenue having a pint and going to St Mary's is it

I have only once had to take my passport to watch the Saints

I think it started sometime ago but the team does seem to be improving so progress is being made.

Exactly. The improvement is there, but it's in terms of performances not points - which is why people get so frustrated.

We're so much better than we were against, say, Huddersfield & Swindon.

If the team that had played against Huddersfield had come up against Charlton they would've been destroyed. Instead we have a much improved side who were more than a match for the last team with a 100% record in League one. Looking at the next few fixtures, the wins will come.

Pardew must have been dreading go to Charlton with a team with no wins and bottom of the league.

Yet the Armchair Critics think with better tactics we could have won.

I think we did well and look forward to some wins in the near future

As I read it .....

11 points from Safety

16 points from SIXTH .......

With BELIEF ....... We CAN do the impossible

I think it was by far the best result thus far. What stood out for me is the re-grouping mentality after their goal. We were for a period all over the place but gradually we pulled ourselves together to take a deserved point. The past 2 seasons after that happened we would normally go on to lose. It is also nice to see subs actually making a difference. We were the better team again when Mellis and Jaidi came on. Mellis was unlucky not to get a penalty.

Good result today and I would have taken that result before the start, but the overall picture at the moment is poor by anyones standards.....I expected to be out of the negative before the start of September but it hasn't happened.

It is still relegation form and if we had done better in our home games then this would have gone down as an excellent result.

It has to be 3 points against yeovil or we really are sh1te.

Have you seen who we have played and where they are in the league??

By the time we play them again we will be on a winning run and I have today backed us for promotion.

We outplayed Charlton and still don't have our best 11 on the park.

Not sure that's true. If belief was all it took there's be scores of Gods running around the place.

Belief may not be ALL .... but it sure counts for a lot ......

Under Poortvliet, going to a Club on Maximum points, we wopuld have got turned over, because the BELIEF that we could get a result would not have been there

IMHO, that BELIEF is beginning to blossom ........ and next weeks WIN will start us off on a WINNING RUN.........

There is no way on gods earth that we will be good enough for promotion,if you are so confident about promotion why have you only backed them today? Why didn't you back them after the Swindon game or the brentford game?

Just because they pulled one decent result out of the bag you think that they are good enough for promotion?

If we were losing every game it wouldn't be a surprise up until about now. Pardew finally now has a defense he wanted (ish), midfield sort of and a striker over 5' 9 (not knowing Rasiak was definitely off) at least. It's going the right way - I firmly believe it.

You're right that Jaidi and Mellis made a big difference when they came on. AP deserves credit for the switch, especially as people around me were calling for Waigo. Mellis was definitely looking for his penalty, so the decision was probably correct. The second was a better shout though there were so many bodies in the box and the ball was actually going away from goal at the time our player went down.

You'll be eating your words you miserable git, trust me. ;)

Our back four with Jaidi is head and shoulders above anything else in the league.

When the goals start coming they won't stop.

One or two injuries to our better players and we are no better than most in L1.

Plus we have 5 points from 21 thats relegation form not promotion. Sure we might turn the corner but I think we have royally ****ed this season already.

Er, why would I back them when I hadn't seen the new team??!!

I am confident I will be collecting.

The league is yet 39 games young - that's 117 points to play for my friend...

Nah, we have Perry on the bench who is still a quality defender. We will soon have one of Holmes, Mills, Lallana, James, Waigo on the bench to mix it up.

We have Saganowksi on the bench.

Trust me.

This is a good side coming together.

Today we were bloody unlucky not to come away from the league leaders with a win.
