ericofarabia Posted 6 December, 2009 Share Posted 6 December, 2009 Surely this must be some sort of record for us, going 2 unbeaten used to be a cause for jubilation, but 10 FFS ... come on stattos earn your corn
Matthew Le God Posted 6 December, 2009 Share Posted 6 December, 2009 We have won Leagues, come 2nd and 3rd in the past. I'm sure it has been bettered at some point in the last 124 years.

CB Fry Posted 6 December, 2009 Share Posted 6 December, 2009 Someone will be on this thread in a minute saying "pro-rata" we've only actually drawn most of those games and we actually still owe the league some points or something.

I was in the UK for the 1st 3 games and went to Huddersfield (could have been 8-1 to them ) and Stockport (should have been 6-1 to us ) . Since I've been back in Dubai they have been unbeaten away from home although scarily i watched the Brighton home game on computer which of course we lost  Be warned I get back in time for a trip to Leeds ... oh dear PS thanks for given me a very loud LOL ... Despite a sticky, awkward start we've registered 20 goals in the last 7 away games. Now that is absolutely amazing, for any league..
sadoldgit Posted 7 December, 2009 Share Posted 7 December, 2009 Growing up as a saints fan in the late 60's we were always hard to beat at home and easy to beat away from home. Ted Bates sorted that by signing Big John McGrath and we picked up away points to such an extent that we made it into Europe. We have been notoriously bad travellers over the years so it is great to see us winning and scoring loads away right now.
hutch Posted 7 December, 2009 Share Posted 7 December, 2009 I always put that down to the Dell. It was very different from the other top club's grounds. Made it hard for others to play there, but also made it hard for us to play anywhere else.
S-Clarke Posted 7 December, 2009 Share Posted 7 December, 2009 It's even more impressive that we've only had 2 defeats in the last 16 league games (or 18 games if you count the cup exploits) no getting away from it - this is league winning form (just a shame we had the - 10 start...!) Minty Posted 7 December, 2009 Share Posted 7 December, 2009 A reply from Gary Chalk, via David Bull, via Saintslist, about whether being unbeaten in 10 away from home is a record: If you include FAC matches then 1949/50 was also 10 on the spin (9 Lge + 1 FAC). Season 1902-03 was 11 on the spin (10 Lge+ 1 FAC). If you remove the FAC matches our total stands at 8 lge away games without defeat. The 1949-50 figure is 9 the 1896-7 figure is 10 the 1902-03 figure is 15 (5 Apr 1902 to 4 Apr 1903) So a positive result at Leeds would equal a FL club record. No pressure there then... lol!
