SaintJackoInHurworth Posted 15 December, 2009 Share Posted 15 December, 2009 It sounds to me as if the regular committed fans and those who are up for a laugh are all saying yes to Santa hats while the trolls, boring farts and groaners are all saying no. So I guess it depends which camp you consider yourself to be in as to what you decide to do. If I remember (and I have a shocking memory most of the time!) I will try to bring a Santa hat with me and if there are enough other people wearing Santa hats, I too might join in with the fun!

MorningtonCrescent Posted 15 December, 2009 Share Posted 15 December, 2009 Why do people have to ridicule others for wanting to do something totally harmless! If you want to wear a santa hat, do it! If you don't, stop having a go at those who will! There are plenty of people on here who WON'T be wearing a santa hat but WILL look ridiculous! Each to their own! Minty Posted 15 December, 2009 Share Posted 15 December, 2009 Why do people have to ridicule others for wanting to do something totally harmless! Because they know best, clearly, and have possession of the 'How to support your football team in an acceptable way' book, that the rest of us have yet to see... We have it all the time... colours, face-paints, fancy dress, now hats. A bit sad really... the criticism that is, not the suggestion. Live and let live. The opening post asked "Any way when were at the Leeds united game do you think all southampton fc fans should wear Santa hats?" and people have answered what they thought. sandwichsaint Posted 15 December, 2009 Share Posted 15 December, 2009 "Any way when were at the Leeds united game do you think all southampton fc fans should wear Santa hats?" Not sure if I'm man enough to suggest how other fans should support the team but I do think the language police ought to investigate this particular crime. Santa hats? Live and let live, c'est' la vie, etc. Personally I will be wearing nothing less than a full set of Santa manswear, woolen long johns, most of my ski stuff, and with a real, hollowed-out, rheindeer's head balanced on my shoulders. I will also be suspending miseltoe and tinsel from the hem of my jacket. Do you think it would look a bit silly if I then hang a red and white scarf across the antlers? You can't have a thread asking what people think of something and when they answer you get on your high horse. Fair enough, and if people don't want to do it, that's so be it... my point was that those that think it is a good idea often get criticised for wanting to do so or told that they'll look stupid. No high horses here, just an intention that fans actually let fellow fans support their team in the way they would like to.

LA77 Posted 16 December, 2009 Share Posted 16 December, 2009 And how is wearing a santa hat "supporting the team"? If people want to wear them then fine. But it's 1: retarded and 2: about as funny as a fire at an orphanage. If you want to be really funny you can always shout "pork pork pork" every 2 minutes, and get all the words to the songs wrong; that way you can go the whole way in making a total mong of yourself. Fans that wear jester hats/santa hats, and generally act a complete **** during the match dribble alot and feed the ducks with their carer. FACT!!
