Dons 0-1 Saints - Reaction

Arizona

Ground out a good result in the end, under a fair bit of pressure 2nd half but only one real scare as they hit the post and a few half decent, but comfortable saves for Davis to make. Very very happy with the result which is all that matters. Just a shame that we will now lose another central midfielder for a few games.

Couldn't really ask for much more than that. I only saw the second half and missed the penalty incident so can't make a judgement, but I thought Saints kept the ball well and didn't panic when we went down to 10 men.

Ref had a bit of a shocker but we should be used to that by now in L1.

Clean sheet away from home and now we have the psychological edge for the return leg at SMS.

Bring it on!!!

Very happy with the performance by the lads today, we looked great out there. Fonte looks class at the back, really settled us down. Mills didn't look that brilliant, had a tendency to hoof the ball rather than play it but otherwise quite good. Shame that Lambert didn't get to have a shot on target really, because I had a feeling he'd score.

That ref was f*cking useless though, it was a clear penalty with the handball, he had a clear view of it yet he decided otherwise. Also, Schneiderlin's sending off was ridiculous. The other player grabbed him by the shirt after MS went over to apologise, then MS pushes him away and he gets sent off for it, a straight red as well! If I was AP i'd be furious with that decision.

Lets just hope we can come through the second leg as strongly as we did today, and set ourselves up for a nice day out at Wembley! COYR!

Very very good performance, extremely positive about that. Fonte and Schniederlin excellent (when on the field!!!). Lambert a handful - play like that and we'll easily be promoted by 2011 - and we could easily get our hands on a trophy!!!

Ratings: Davis 8, Mills 6, Perry 6, Fonte 9, Thomas 7, Wotton 6, Schniederlin 8, James 7, Antonio 7, Lambert 7, Lallana 6

Great goal from Antonio, but boy isn't he hit and miss? Frustrating and a joy all in one!!!

Great effort, a brilliant away performance.

Antonio was great, but Fonte was the best player on the pitch. Complete class act, read everything - nothing ever got past him.

No idea @ the ref, how that was a red i don't know.

Ok he put his arms up to his face, but it was ****ing gleeson who nearly strangled him in the first place FFS - two yellows, surely?

We really dug in though, great efforts from the senior lads in perry and wotton (who was brilliant doing his normal spoiling job). James had a good game too, but we didn't keep it on the deck as much as we can. - we play much better that way.

we've got a massive chance of going to wembley now though, MK Don's really aren't up to much at all tbh.

Bollix. Blasted Saints ALWAYS do that to me....

Emirates & BA have a sale on with really cheap flights for me & Eric in March. We SHOULD have scored 3 or 4 with the superiority we had but oh no, they let us down again. Still too tight to call only 0-1 so no way can we book the flights and of course the sale's over by the time the next leg comes around... Gosh darn it.

OK didn't see an away win coming, well done Saints, great work by MS & mention to Wotton in midfield, but BIGGEST mention to the 3,000 fans who went. Awesome job peeps

Can someone explain what Scheiderlin got sent off for, please ?

I missed the game completely.

Hands up to a players face - he didn't slap him or punch him, just raised hands.

It was in retaliation to nearly getting strangled by their player, make of that what you will.

Lovely win!

A good win yes, however, and I can only give an opinion based on what I read on the BBC text during the game, it seemed like we were camped in their half and only won by one goal. Surely this underlines the need for another striker to assist Lambert, please Mr. Connelly get fit soon, or a goal scoring mid field player.

Thought the ref was ****e mind!

Red card was harsh but reasonable too. The only two decisions he got wrong all night was the handball that he missed (although it seemed everyone missed it other than the commentator) and that "foul" against Antonio for going into the corner flag (with thanks to the linesman)

I'm a ref, and I thought he controlled the game quite well - it could have got nasty.

Brilliant, lets just get the job done now at SMS and have a great trip to Wembley. Antonio reminds me of a young Kenwyne Jones, totally hit and miss at the moment, but he's only 19. Feel he will be a great player in a few years time.
