Why is Wilkins staying

Dean is a mate of my sons football coach and I met him at a party not long ago. Speaking to my sons coach he said that Dean hated Wally Downes and they never got on - not sure it adds much to the conversation but I will ask whats going on when I see him next

maybe better thought of by NC, just wondered if there was a possible link with the new manager - if one waiting

Don't think so Nick.

I said earlier that i think Dean has been kept on to keep continuity - the players know him and he can carry on the same methods for now. I would have assumed that Martin Hunter would have been put in charge if we were looking at an imminent appointment, but the fact that Wilkins has been told to carry on for the foreseeable future suggests that we're no where near appointing anyone else.

That's just my thought on it though, not ITK or anything.

Maybe dean is going to be zola what butch is to ancelotti - zola's good friends with butch - both of whom are chelski/serie a legends and butch obviously knows dean. surprised we didnt use more of our chelski connections last season - apart from the Mellis loan deal who was arguably underused by AP.

I think it's just to provide maximum continuity for this transitional period. You could say that as he is a tried and tested L1 manager in his own right, this was a good piece of forward planning by NC. He clearly also has good contacts and I would suggest he's got the ear of Cortese at least in the short term.

Well somebody's got to pick the team and perhaps Cortese thought it would be taking things a bit too far if he did it himself. It just shows that this must have been a heat of the moment decision because anybody with any sense would have a replacement lined up before getting rid of the current manager.

1st team manager, coach, keeper coach - all sacked.

Asst 1st team manager stays -why?

Was their a split in the camp, or is he part of new guys plans?

IMHO, he is still there because he is the same sort of "creep" as his brother at Chelsea. He says "Yes" before he is asked a question

The three sackings should tell everyone that this was planned some time ago, and that Cortese has already chatted someone up

You can rest assured that whoever it is will be a 200% YES MAN, because Cortese is KING

As at now, the only difference between Lowe and Cortese, is that Cortese has access to the MONEY, that is of course he sticks to Markus Leibherrs Plans, because, already, he has gone against ML's wishes NOT to get rid of Pardew

I was not a great fan of Pardew, but the way Cortese has done this is Despicable IMHO

We no longer have a nice Family Club, we now have a DICTATORSHIP

Dave Merrington on solent just saying how strange this is - 3 out of 4 in charge of first team going - why?

You normally do a full clear out, or just manager.

no. there are numerous examples of most a team being sacked, and one person being retained to take training / act as caretaker so that players have someone they know. Amazed Merrington does not know this. Often the lone guy is also sacked when a new man and his team arrive, but not always

You used CAPS LOCK at different points to type and emphasise select words and phrases. It must be true.

Oh, and just so you know, 'Dictatorship' wasn't originally the lazy pejorative it is today, but a description of an individual led system of rule, with rules, regulations and accountability.

But I'm sure you already knew that, and didn't just give some throwaway comment in an attempt to link the chairman with fascism.

HTH.
