Dr Who? Posted 26 October, 2010 Share Posted 26 October, 2010 whats jones or cardiff got to do with US? He used to be our manager, and was very unfairly treated while here. He was cut short in what i have no doubt would have been a good job for us!! Fair play to him and what he has been through, deserves all the glory he can get, great bloke to. SouthlondonSaint Posted 26 October, 2010 Share Posted 26 October, 2010 As this is my first post, thought I would firstly say hello to all Saints fans and I look forward to some good discussions! Currently living/working in South East London, mainly surrounded by Charlton, Dagenham and Southend United fans! Just didn't realise how despised Mr Alan Pardew really was! Well done Mr Jones, who goes to Elland Road and wins 4 - 0? an incredible results and some very, very good football played by Cardiff.
Wes Tender Posted 26 October, 2010 Share Posted 26 October, 2010 I lost affection for the bloke when his team failed to beat the Skates and gifted them the F. A. Cup.

I wish Jones well, but am not particularly keen on seeing Cardiff prosper partly due to some of their fans, and partly due to the fact they are playing the loan system with many other clubs supporting their push and wagebill. Agree that he deserves success after the turmoil that surrounded him for a couple of years. However I don't agree he was unfairly treated by Saints, although his exit was poorly handled by Lowe.I'm of the view he would have been shown the door a couple of months sooner had it not been for his personal circumstances. We were nosediving out the Prem that season, woeful at Villa and Newcastle before he went. Although he had looked promising for us early on,it was going downhill fast towards the end of his tenure so I'm not convinced that he would have been sucessfull with us longer term. But surely this is the arguement that supports the decision to put him on 'gardening leave' - his personal circumstances (which he was obviously aware of before they became public) were affecting his ability to job. As for another poster calling him 'dull', I think Saints could have prospered better over the last few years if things had been just a little 'duller'. Although a very decent man I think what he went through has made many fans forget the situation we were in at the time of his departure - when he was put on "gardening leave" many Saints fans were calling for his head following some poor performances, topped off by a complete collapse up at Newcastle. I don't think he was doing a particularly great job at the time of his departure and like it or not, Hoddle came in and improved performances significantly. The9 Posted 26 October, 2010 Share Posted 26 October, 2010 I like Dave Jones but I hate Cardiff City, therefore I wish him nothing but comedy disasters like missing out on the playoffs on goal difference to Preston after losing 6-0 to them a week or two before, and losing in the Play-Off final to Blackpool. Unfortunately with the squad they have this season I just can't see them missing out again. So I'm going to have to hope for a Newport County promotion to the Football League and Cardiff to "do a Derby" next season to take the edge off. Yes, but ... given the choice, would you really want the Skates (aka Cheats FC) to go up instead?

The CPS are the people who treated him unfairly. During the last few months of his time he was falling out of favour with most fans. However I wish him all the best. Agreed we were nosediving out of the Premier. We must have appointed a good manager after he left because we not only survived we actually thrived.
