Funny reading their fans comments reading our fans comments.

After having a look at both forums and comments, I have come to the following concluions;

Brighton fans think we either played well or were poor

Saints fans think Brighton either played well or played poorly

Brighton and Saints both played for the draw

Some Brighton fans think Saints will get promoted, but some think we are not good enough

Saints fans think Brighton will stay up near the top for the season, some think they will not go up

Brighton fans think Adkins is a tool, although some think he's ok

Both sets of fans think Lallana either should, or should not have had a penalty

Saints fans think the ref gave decisions Brighton's way, Brighton fans think the ref gave decisions Saints way

Brighton fans think Kelv was in no hurry to take his kicks, Saints fans think the Brighton keeper was in no hurry to take his kicks

Brighton fans don't like Saints fans and don't care about us (other than discussing us)

Saints fans don't like Brighton fans and don't care about them (other than discussing them)

Pretty conclusive I’d say

there is a lot of mongs on that board! They think they've won the league already... we'll see in may

There are also a lot of mongs on this board who expected us to win the League this season as you say we will see in May.

I would be surprised if Brighton fans were that different from ourselves

I thought we'd given up long ball football, what's all that about then, just sour grapes?

After Brighton dominated the first 7 or 8 minutes and we couldn't get the ball off them we resorted to panic-hoofing it away for a little bit.

They then did the exact same thing when we dominated the rest of the half until El-Abd got injured which killed our momentum.

And their goalkeeper should have been booked for time-wasting in the 3rd minute, which is when he started doing it.

I didn't even notice Kelvin time-wasting, and he certainly wasn't doing it before Butterfield was brought on to settle for the 0-0 with a few minutes left.

As for penalties, we should have had one on Lallana because they we given one for a similar thing (except with the ball unplayable and going off the pitch for the one that was given) - though I don't think either of them was penalties.

They also should have had another one a few minutes later, but they'd already eaten up their allocation of dubious awarded pen decisions by then - the second foul was much more of a penalty than the one they got.

Based on what I saw, Brighton won't win the league. I don't doubt they'll be in the promotion chase, but as for winning the league, I'd be suprised if they were still up top come May.

who's going to top them then?? We should be top but we aren't, not many better sides (other than us) than Brighton in this league. We should be p*ssing it,but Brighton are showing us how it should be done. They'll get automatic promotion...with us.

you just can't argue with their record, they've lost 2 games out of 18 and won 10. Once they got Poyet they were on a one way street.

I actually agree with most of the Brighton comments. We need a couple more creative players in midfield - and I think fitness could be improved with some of our key players. Should be able to hammer any team in this league with the amount of money that has been invested in the squad. Amazing how our entire season at the moment IMO is in Ricky Lamberts hands - if he carries on the way he is then it is play offs at best. If he was the player he was last season we would be at the top of the league.

We are (I think) 9 league goals down on the same stage last year, despite our horrific start that time. That would translate into a shedload of points. When you look at it objectively 26 league goals from 18 games isn't great, take away the 3 times we've scored 4 and that leaves 14 goals from 15 games. No striking crisis???f*ck off.

Did we really play for a draw? Do any Saints fans think that, was there any time wasting? I'd be fairly disgusted if that's true. Home to a team like Brighton? Home to anyone in this league, we're supposed to be trying to win it, so why the hell would we want a draw? It's of little use and was clearly 2 points dropped. I was worried enough seeing Adkins say he was happy at how we dealt with playing Brighton, as if it was some great challenge to not lose. It should have been them dealing with us. What's the excuse for letting this little club that have spent next to nothing be so far ahead of us that we settle for a draw?

Where do you get the idea that we played for a draw from, evidently not. When we should play for a draw is games like Carlisle away, play 4-3-3 and just shut up shop, never mind all the gong-ho charging forward from midfield, it's suicidal. You get a point and move on to the next home or easy game

and score a shedload. It's called football management. We need 90 points,46 games, win at home, draw away easy peasy, you have to know when to try to win and when to try not to lose. Not sure that Adkins does though. preferred AP in that respect, we will eventually regret his departure.

There, thought I'd clear that up for you and them...

and PS Poyet and his cronies are a bunch of miserable whingeing gits for trying to get Schneiderlin sent off. If that's football South American & Chelsea style than EFF off to thenm all. I'm glad we are red-blooded Saints!

Butterfield coming on was Burley-esque I'm afraid :(

Not sure that MA had much choice. Morgan had to go off earlier in the half to ensure he wasn't sent off. Alex O-C had cramp and needed to come off and the best option off the bench by that stage was butterfield who has played in midfield before (although not for us). I didn't think we were particularly weakened by it as Alex O-C was shackled by two defenders all night and as it was very late didn't really influence the outcome of the match.

I assumed Butterfield was brought on as emergency extra striker or something. If he was brought on to see out a draw at home then I've really lost a lot of faith in Adkins. I thought he was the sort of manager to go for it and attack, not run scared of fcking Brighton.

This is the first time at St. Mary's I've seen real reason to criticise Adkins. His double substitution of Barney and Morgan for Guly and Holmes was suicidal. After dominating the centre of midfield for the entire game, those subs saw us gift wrap it to Brighton and encourage them on to us. Our attacking threat was also largely diminished as we couldn't keep hold of the ball.

In any case, butterfield came on because AOC had cramp, but it was also a measure of shoring things up and solving the problem that the double sub had created.

I am worried that we are overplaying AOC and that we have left ourselves without many options by loaning players out.Our injury list seems to be rocketing again, perhaps that's just normal 20 odd games into the season.

Poyet now saying that Brighton fans are unrealistically getting overexcited because they may well be priced out of promotion as they can't compete for the sort of player they now need. In comparison Southampton paid one of their centre halves the same as it is costing Brighton for their four. If we had wanted players he had no doubt we would have signed them.

I think he is being realistic in saying it is one thing challenging for 20 games but 46 is a different thing altogether. It sounds like their backup squad is very thin.
