The Echo can't get anything right, in tonights edition centre pages, Saints Legends, there is a picture of Mick Channon with the caption, on the ball Jose Fonte against Walsall, wonder how many more cock ups I will find when I get round to reading it.

Not the biggest fan of echo or its editor but not really worth getting stressed over minor human error!

What a w@nky thread.

I am sure none of you have ever made a mistake in your lifes/jobs/homework.

Fair enough if they'd accused someone of being a murderer when they're not, but screwing up a caption is hardly criminal.

Its a bit nit picky, having edited a student newspaper I can tell you its pretty hard to get every single thing right, the other day I was looking back at a 12 page newspaper I edited last year and spotted a few minor errors, always hard when you're up against a deadline to read every single word. It could've been a lot worse, my local paper today had a match report of Reading's defeat to QPR last Friday, under the strapline "Doncaster 0-3 Reading", mistakes will be made, better to make a minor one than a major one as Alain Perrin has pointed out above.

No, sorry, I'm not with you on this one. It drives me mad when I see spelling errors or gramatical faults in a professional document such as a newspaper or letter. Don't get me wrong I'm not perfect and I often write like a school child on here, but it shouldn't happen in a newspaper. Also, I'm sure they employ proof-readers for this exact purpose. How can you miss something as obvious as that?

Not the end of the world though. :)

yes but when you are selling something to the public you would have thought that someone would have read it first!

I work in a similar industry, it's easily done, especially when money is tight.

No argument with that but in this instance mixing up MC and Fonte is simply careless, lazy journalism.

I must confess that when I saw the title of the thread, I thought that it referred to this article.

http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/saints/news/8843331.Saints_in_sight_of_scoring_record/?ref=rss

Now this is a pleasant change from the Echo; something positive about the Club.

But seeing that the thread is all about the sloppy journalism and the sort of silly mistakes made in their articles, then yes, I agree that it has become noticeably worse over the years. Even if they did employ a proof reader, one gets the impression that it must be some spotty youth on work experience training.

On the back page today, it says we signed Lambert from Rochdale

I nearly spat my lunch over the dash of the car when I read that, I phoned Leitch and asked him if he read the article before it went to press, he said he did, I rest my case.
