Who's going to be supporting United tonight?

No. I hope they get mullered. They have just won the poorest top flight in living memory and have had flukey draws in the Champs League all season. They are nowhere near as good as they think and it would be funny to see them get smashed.

However, it would also be funny to see cheating ****s like Busquets and Alves get a kicking.

I don't like Manchester United that much or the vast majority of their plastic fans, but I want them to win it. They're an English team, and while there's no doubting the immense talent of Barca, they dive around like pansies and try to fool referees.

I would love it a Barcelona player got a second yellow for simulation and got sent off.

I will. Domestically, can't stand them. But on the European stage I always want the English clubs to do well and the stage doesn't get any bigger than this.

This. I support any English team in Europe. Except Skatesmouth. There are some boundaries. X

No. Absolutely not.

Although I can respect Ferguson for his achievements I cannot stand Rooney or Ferdinand. The prospect of all the media adulation for those two in particular, and the fawning over ManU is too much to stomach.

Xavi spoke in glowing terms of MLT and that is enough for me.

No. The boasting from the plastics will just be endless, not to mention the endless media masturbation. Christ almighty, I hope Rooney doesn't score the winning goal.

who gives a rats arse about the plastics? It is great for English football if they do win. Personally, I view this as an 'England' game. Yeah, yeah, I know a lot of the players aren't from this Green and Pleasant Land but it is still an English club so I hope they win. End of.

I will, at the end of the day they're representing England and for that reason I want them to win it

No they are representing Manchester United. Shame they never really perform when they are representing England rather than just go through the motions. The 'patriotism card' does not come into it as far as I'm concerned with c^nts like Rooney or Ferdinand, let alone the South Koreans,Mexican etc.

Hate the plastics with a passion but the cheating diving other lot, no could never want them to win.

Also the more games English Teams win in Europe the more it maintains our status and # of European places for two year's time...... 8)

I want them to lose after outplaying Barca for most of the game.

Fergie has fluked 2 European Cups,Bayern should have been 3 or 4 up before that ending and John Terry should have burried that Peno.

An offside goal, or a blatant dive by Villa for a last min pen, will do me. Anything that upsets Taggart would be great.

No, I'll be supporting Barca. I hate ManUre, can't stand them. They aren't representing England, or even all of Manchester, and I resent anyone telling me I should support them on the basis we're based in the same country.

i will be supporting them as after watching barce play real madrid, i realised that they get all the luck and are a bunch of diving bastards

Exactly....

When it was Villa, Liverpool or Forest full of Brits playing, then I was right behind them. This lot are a multi national Company that happen to be based in England. Their supporters sing about Argentina, and "We're Man Utd, we do as we want", and then expect us to support them. ********, I hope they have a heart breaking defeat.

American owned, with a Scottish Manager, a team of few Englishmen and a support base made up of those who love to make the most of the fact that they don't like or consider themselves English (with the old chants of "Argentina" and "Republic of Mancunia" banners) and a significant number of their home support coming from outside England?

I hope Barca thrash them and I don't even like Barca. Can't stand Rooney, Nani or Ferguson, hope to see at least one of them in tears at the end and the more c**tish sections of support having had an utterly s**t day out.

And another couple of thousand kids across the south of England deciding to support Man Utd rather than their own local side. I can't see how in anyway it would be "good for English football", it would be good for Manchester United and all who have a vested interest in them, be that supporters or investors.

nothing at all like barca do...or have this season

You ever seen Nani play?

I agree, don't particularly like Barca, boring with their slow build up play, love diving too much and play the ref an absolute treat, just can't see why anyone Saints fan could bring themslefves to wanting United to win, seen more c**tish behaviour by United players/managers and fans over the years to comfortably out-weigh any other club.

Quite. But we are still far more of an English club than United. How are they an English team, apart from simply happening to be based ina part of England, which is the post that I was responding to? And you ignored the rest of my post? From when I first went to see Saints play at Old Trafford back in the mid 80s to the present day, you're far more likely to see an Irish tri-clour amoungst their support than the usual St George's Cross that you would see with the majority of other English clubs.

funnily enough I have started to see a lot of nippers wearing barca shirts. I hate seeing local lads here in Brighton wearing Man Utd shirts - I always tell them to go buy an Albion shirt. But if they must wear a 'big' club shirt I would still rather they wear a Man Utd shirt than a shirt from a country they probably can't even place on a map.

Yeah you see the odd barca shirt around, same as with some of the lads I play 5-a-side with wear Spain or Holland shirts, still no-where near the volume of Manchester United supporters across the South of England. How many southern English Barca fans are in your place of work? And how many Southern English Man Utd fans are in your place of work? I don't know about you, but I don't have to put up with too many glory hunting Barca fans in my office........

so we have not been arrogant this season.....I think we have..in a massive way...rightly or wrongly

No we haven't been massively arrogant this season at all. I'm not going to say we haven't shown some arrogance at times, but relative to our greater resources and support we've been reasonably decent. A lot of the "we're Southampton we do what we want" is tongue in cheek and is no-where near on a par to the things I've seen from United fans over the years.

Thank f**k for that, for a minute then I thought you were arguing that Saints fan's arrogance was on a par with those from United  Can understand you being a little unclear as I know you rarely get to attend Saints games.

I'll be supporting Barca just as I do any team in europe that plays against United, Skates and Spurs. For me the big thing is I shall be watching it in town tonight with friends and i'm sure the plastics will be there in force in Southampton who have probably never seen MUFC play live except on the telly. I absolutely cannot stand Man United and have always quite liked Barca anyway

I'm not arguing with you. My local here in Brighton - where I will be watching the game tonight - is a staunchly strong Albion pub. Albion legends pictures on the walls, blue an white flags etc. and it really, really ****es me off when all the plastics flock in to watch the tele. And not just Utd - there's a big spurs contingent who haven't been near white heart lane ever. Ditto Liverpool and Arsenal. They also don't use the pub normally, only when their team is on sky. Now, the Albion fans and me sit at the bar and growl at them in solidarity. I hate plastics full stop. That said I also have met plenty of Man Utd ST holders who's families have supported Utd through the generations and all come from Cottonopolis too - and they share my dislike for the plastics, believe me.

I would still rather the rest of Europe knows that England is number one for football and see Utd win in Europe than hold some sort of warped bitterness against them just to spite them.

Seriously, supporting Manure cos they're English? ******** to that. I'll be supporting Barca because (despite having 2 players who are prone to diving) they are still head and shoulders the best team in Europe... or the world.

When Barca are on their game there is no better sight in football and football will be the winner if they do indeed win tonight.

As an aside, I don't think the semi final was truly representative of Barca, it came following a la Liga derby where Real had blatantly set out to kick lumps out of Barca, They were just evening up the odds to ensure Real weren't successful in this fashion (typical Mourinho) again.

Having said that I have only watched the Barca CL games so they may well dive like that all the time, even then the likes of Villa, Messi, Xavi, Puyol and Iniesta more than compensate for a couple of diving wasters like Busquets and Pedro.

I'd never support a team in europe 'just cos they're english' I'd support the team I liked to watch the most.

English team over a bunch of diving tards.. Il stick with the English. As unbelievably talented and breataking Barca are, they're 'antics' are unneccesarry and cringworthy.. what sort of man wants to be seen as the wimps they come across as.

Dont really have a problem with Man U, more English players than the other top 4 sides aswell.

Thing is this is a club competition and not a country thing at all. Nationality shouldn't be used as a reason to either support or not support them. If people want to use that as a justification for supporting them tonight then fine. I won't be supporting them because I don't like the manager, I don't like the players, I don't like the fans and most of all I don't like the media w*nkathon that surrounds them.

anybody supporting united tonight needs to be seriously looked at. they give it all the talk about them against the rest of the country for 99% of the time and then expect the country to back them in the champions league final. **** that. I hate them
