Son of Bob Posted 19 April, 2012 Share Posted 19 April, 2012 I was just wondering what the Saints Fashion Police (no names mentioned) feel about pin badges? Are they acceptable? Personally, I wear one on my coat to games and I feel that is fine. Saying that, I certainly don't advocate the 'Pearly King' look. Thoughts? chocco boxo Posted 19 April, 2012 Share Posted 19 April, 2012 Loved the 76 Cup Final badges............big red ones.........Jim Steele Mel Blyth Government Health Warning. Those were the days scarfs on wrists, no fashion police then! I would say the smaller the pin the better! ;-)

Personally, I wear one on my coat to games and I feel that is fine. Saying that, I certainly don't advocate the 'Pearly King' look. Thoughts? A discreet Saints pin badge is perfectly acceptible. I wear a silver 12mm Saints badge on my jacket. I also own a Saints badge air freshener and a Saints keyring. Oh, and a pair of Saints shorts (perfect for that Marsielle '98 beach riot look of crisp Ralphy polo top, club shorts and a deckchair to launch at the OB) for strolling about unopposed round some foreign market town on holiday letting the locals know that I'm Southampton and I'll do what I want... Any more than this is tacky/ embarrassing unless you are a schoolkid. Whereby a replica shirt, pencil case, scarf for bedroom wall and red smoke grenade are standard kit items. Gemmel Posted 19 April, 2012 Share Posted 19 April, 2012 Isn't that a bit like asking what people think about Trainspotting? No (I will wait to be corrected), but a single pin badge is very acceptable to the fashion police. Fan The Flames Posted 19 April, 2012 Share Posted 19 April, 2012 Off topic slightly, I left my pin badge in a shrine on the side of Aconcagua mountain in Decemebr 2002 and wished for a good cup run.

This Charming Man Posted 19 April, 2012 Share Posted 19 April, 2012 Pin badges are acceptable as long as it's kept down to one and is fairly small and subtle. Plastering a cap with hundreds of them is a big no no.

Saint Malc Posted 19 April, 2012 Share Posted 19 April, 2012 I've got a couple of small golden Simon Templar Saint man badges I wear quite a lot. They are so discreet that I'm always being asked 'what does it stand for?'

kpturner Posted 19 April, 2012 Share Posted 19 April, 2012 I am sure the phrase "scarfer" has been coined people who where pin badges, despite the obvious connection with being a scarf wearer

Saint Malc Posted 19 April, 2012 Share Posted 19 April, 2012 Going to away games in the '70's and '80's meant that you had to have your wits about you and wearing shirts and scarfs were a definite no-no. I s'pose I've never grown out of it and still don't wear colours to away games now.

Dr Who? Posted 19 April, 2012 Share Posted 19 April, 2012 I have a few of them. A saints golly, yellow Southampton till I die, and a cup final one. I only ever wear one if I do not have any other saints stuff on that day!
stkev7 Posted 19 April, 2012 Share Posted 19 April, 2012 A subtle pin badge is quality, what is not is that Liverpool supporting gimp you see on the TV who wears a hat covered in them. Does anyone have any suggetsions of where some decent smallish ones can be obtained? I got a new one the other day from a guy in the Northam Social Club which is nice (but maybe not to everyone's taste!). It's a white Adidas shell-toe trainer with 3 red stripes and a Saints badge on the tongue. I liked it as I'm a huge fan of old skool adidas originals but some may thinks its a bit tacky. It's very small and discreet.
