exit2 Posted 15 November, 2008 Share Posted 15 November, 2008 have to agree, that was the worse reffing I have seen for months maybe years! I cant wait to see the sending off again, as from where I was sat it looked like the Wolves player went in two footed off the ground.

graemeread1234 Posted 15 November, 2008 Share Posted 15 November, 2008 I felt we could have had a penalty in the second half, my view wasnt good enough to give an opinion on the red card. But the thing that annoyed me was in the second half we had 2 good chances of getting a cross in but the lino flagged twice for the ball going out of play when it clearly wasnt (well not from my view) Also another thing in the first half soon after euell got sent off their player had a high foot which went completly unnoticed. But i felt we still could have got a point if we had a bit of luck, i mean Mcgoldrick should have scored in the first half when he had the one on one chance, we need to take our chances and also have somebody whos not scared command the back 4, but it was a good game to watch and im glad i went. Huffton Posted 15 November, 2008 Share Posted 15 November, 2008 That was possibly the most inept display of refereeing I have had the displeasure to witness at a football match. I think this respect campaign has had the opposite effect, all the refs think they are now above suspicion as everyone has to 'respect' them. Its ******, and its ruining the game. Its about time the FA got tough on these so called proffesionals, they are drawing a bloody good wage for this after all.

um pahars Posted 15 November, 2008 Share Posted 15 November, 2008 Even if you ignore some of the contentious decisions, it never ever seemed as though he was in full control of the game. rocknrollman no2 Posted 15 November, 2008 Share Posted 15 November, 2008 That disgusting display by the ref should be reported to the FA and he should never ref at this level again. jawillwill Posted 15 November, 2008 Share Posted 15 November, 2008 To be fair, they're all sh!t at every game, for every club at this level. I bet if you go and ask any other fan from a (losing) Championship team today and they'll say they ref had something to do with it. I was at Swansea v Watford mid-week and the "world class" (according to the programme) Andy D'urso was in charge. At the time, even as a neutral I thought he was the worlds worst ref, as did the rest of the stadium.
ottery st mary Posted 15 November, 2008 Share Posted 15 November, 2008 I think we might have to adopt some other strategy...like coaching the team to win some games...Tactics/team selection/formations......Even if the ref was rubbish to-0day...which by all accounts, he was.. We can not keep saying this all season...Back to a football team and win some games..regardless of the rub of the green.....But I have to admit I have had a real go at some refs over the years....So I know how some of you must have felt to-0day. saintsfannick Posted 15 November, 2008 Share Posted 15 November, 2008 worst display from a referee I have ever seen, he was discraceful and wrongly sent euell off for a 50/50 challenge then turned two good shouts for penalities down, even the chapel was up in arms! CHAPEL END CHARLIE Posted 15 November, 2008 Share Posted 15 November, 2008 I would like to echo all of the above and add that Rudi Skacel's yellow card was probably the most ridiculous decision I've ever seen a ref give in 35 years of watching football . But apart from that and the dreadful red card he gave Jason Mule and refusing the clear penalty DMG won he wasn't too bad .

Bourno Posted 15 November, 2008 Share Posted 15 November, 2008 Yes the ref was poor, but players need to just get on with it. The ref and lino are not going to change their mind when a player rants and raves at them. From where I was sat in the Chapel Euell deserved a straight red for a 2 footed tackle. I could not understand the standing ovation he was given for an act of stupidity which put the team at a disadvantage.

georgeismyname Posted 15 November, 2008 Share Posted 15 November, 2008 He was the worst ref you will ever see and I have no idea how he has managed to get to this level let alone the Premiership. He needed the stewards to escort him off the pitch! Agree that the lino on the Itchen side missed a few obvious (to say the least) offsides and the ones he did give he was very late to flag. As for the red card, well, it was 50-50 and if he was going to send Euell off, he should have sent off the Wolves player (Stearman?) too. And the Perry one in the second half when the Wolves player got out of the way was much worse and didn't even get a free kick. And that Surman free-kick on the edge of the area that he didn't give was ridiculous and then he went on and gave a free-kick to them for Schneiderlin's tackle that didn't touch the man and Morgan only made that tackle out of frustration at not getting the (obvious) decision And the McGoldrick pen was blatant. Rant over. To sum up - Lee Mason - what a w*nker

To be fair to the lino the second incident was out (if its the one right at the end) but other than that an awful game by the lino on the chapel/kingsland corner and the ref. I couldnt properly see the Euell incident but from where I was it was 50/50 at the worst and the ref then turned a blind eye to countless pushes and high boots from wolves and almost everytime we went forward play was stopped for something The linesman was rubbish there were a few incidents where nothing was done right in front of him, i.e. saints players being shoved in the back, a defender pulling DMG back by holding his arm and pulling him off balance However I must hand it to them it did stir up the atmosphere =p

rooney Posted 15 November, 2008 Share Posted 15 November, 2008 I could not see from the Chapel if Euells Sending Off was deserved or not. It will be looked at by the club on the video and if it was not deserved, the club will appeal and it will be rescinded. It is as simple as that. If it was as silly a sending off as everyone is suggesting, an inept decision has had a huge impact on the result. What if that sends us down? Or Birmingham miss out on automatic promotion ( Like i give a f@ck) but the point is that every decision has reprecussions and if it was as bad as everybody is suggesting, then he shouldnt be alllowed to take charge of games at this standard. I know full well everybody makes mistakes and know i will tomorrow when i play, but if i was getting paid to do it, i know i wouldnt be in a position to complain if i got a load of abuse. Chez Posted 15 November, 2008 Share Posted 15 November, 2008 It will be interesting to see the red card decision again as for me the both went in studs first and couold both have been sent off. Sadly Euell got more of their guy than the other way round so off he went. I actually thought the callenge that caught Lancashire two minutes later was equally bad and the ref didn't even blink. Why on earth the ref felt more inclined to book Surman and Skacel (having wrongly punished both) for showing the slightest bit of descent I will never know. Funnily enough the worse the ref got the better we played.

sydney_saint Posted 16 November, 2008 Share Posted 16 November, 2008 So i guess there will be a large amount of people on here signing up to become local refs, because if there are more refs in the country, obviously, the standard will be greater in the higher leagues as there would be a larger pool to choose from. I'm a State ref over here so I'm not been a hypocrite either. If the ref had a shocker, so be it and he deserves a bit of abuse. But, as some have said, that every ref is bad i strongly urge them to take up the whistle themselves and try and improve the standard. I guess I'll just get abused for this however from the 'experts'

Teddy Nutkins Posted 16 November, 2008 Share Posted 16 November, 2008 (edited) We all moan and groan about the men in black, me more than most, but this thing yes thing, made my blood boil. As somebody quite rightly said earlier, his inept performance could send us down,There were so-many criticle decisions he got wrong, imho, he alone is the proof that video replays for the 4th official need to be brought in sooner rather than later. While i am at it i wish to appologise to anyone who was in block 11 of the Itchen, who witnessed me loosing the plot, and to the stewards who had to be put on stand-by, because i really wanted to hurt that referee. I was completely sober, but i think i will need more anger management courses.Time for me to take a break from watching Saints, me thinks. By the way i managed to make contact with the ref, later, and left him knowing that i thought that he wasn't very good.:smt009 Edited 16 November, 2008 by Teddy Nutkins
redorwhitelion Posted 16 November, 2008 Share Posted 16 November, 2008 Seen it for a second time now. Free-kick to Wolves a quick word will Euell was all that was needed. Both players slid in for a lose ball and Euell got there second. Well done ref, you made sure you became the centre of attention and got all the dissent decisions right, you can go home to your wife and bore her with your insights into rule 47(b) sub-clase 1 and why technically you we spot-on and that the rest of the world doesn't and couldn't possibly understand the rules as well as you. I bet you're dead proud of yourself. Luckily you can't book me for calling you an obnoxious **** with dictator's complex.
