andrew40 Posted 14 August, 2008 Share Posted 14 August, 2008 A quick message to say thanks to all the users who donated to Sophies Gift. To those that were interested, Sophie is still minimally aware but responding extremely well to Saints chants, and private messages to her from David McGoldrick, James Beattie and Antti Niemi. So it has been decided to bring her to the Saints game this Saturday against Birmingham. Southampton FC have been extremely helpful in facilitating this. She is being well looked after and the rehabilitation is progressing extremely well. She managed to whisper her brother Toms name a few weeks ago. Some of you mentioned that you would chant her name, it would be very interesting to see her response if this does in fact happen. Andrew

andrew40 Posted 19 August, 2008 Author Share Posted 19 August, 2008 Sophie had a fab day, and has only just woke up after her gruelling session. The biggest smile came across her face as Perry's goal came in as well as listening to Tom hurling abuse at McFadden. Three of the players came out afterwards to see her, McGoldrick, Surman, and Holmes who spent a long time chatting to her and the family. Holmes was particularly interested in all her re-habilitation and the therapy she goes through, it was very touching. The manager then came out and seemed very moved by her and spent a while holding her hand and looking into her eyes, we weren't sure if he was going to burst into tears, but it was nice.. Michael Wilde even came out for a long chat to make sure everything was OK. Needless to say McCleish just stared and walked past the ba******* Thanks to everyone for your support... andrew40 Posted 9 December, 2009 Author Share Posted 9 December, 2009 Just to let you all know that Sophie has been transferred from Bath Neuro Rehabilitation to a specialist intensive place in Bournemouth. She has made outstanding progress in Bournemouth under the new regime and regularly (when she can) listens to all the Saints news, and her sisters regularly read out whats on here to her. She spoke her first word a few weeks ago and is loving the attention. She has been back to St Mary's and was at the Gillingham game (4-1) but found it very tiring after her recent blip where the family nearly lost her. She has recovered very well. They are now in the gruelling legal process to get her the compensation she deserves and needs, to cater for her future care and to be able to bring her home. The family are finding it a strain but they are hopeful of bringing Sophie home for christmas. They are also hopeful of getting Sophie to more games in the New Year but seating her at the front causes her more complications in the cold and wet, so I believe someone is trying to negotiate for her to use one of the empty boxes, but this is reaching dead ends, ever hopeful... Once again the family would like to thank you all for all the excellent support you have given a fellow Saints fan. Thank You

Isla Wight Posted 9 December, 2009 Share Posted 9 December, 2009 I was thinking of Sophie & how she is doing only a couple of weeks ago. Thanks for the update. I hope that someone with clout at the club shows some compassion here and sorts out of of the many empty boxes to accommodate her from time to time. Season of goodwill and all that. andrew40 Posted 9 December, 2009 Author Share Posted 9 December, 2009 Many Thanks for your kind comments. You have to be the best supporters!! As an aside does anyone have good quality recordings of the crowd chants. We have attempted this off the Club Media but have met with a "silent" response. We are trying to work out if Sophie can distinguish general chants or does indeed recognise her teams supporters. Its a bit of an experiment but the repercussions could be huge for her... Many Thanks..
