The point is that Board is not representative of the fan base. The Club have decided in their wisdom to obtain advice from a number of people who proportionately don’t reflect our fans.

Genuinely I missed those bits. Which posts specifically? I saw one moved from a different thread about ending up with an lgbtq manager which I thought was a bit of an odd comment. I expect it's because some of the people on the fan board appear to be lgbtq themselves or have stated that their priorities are that sort of thing.

Erm no… and it would be a pretty odd way of doing so.

Not that it should matter, but I am straight and married to a woman. I have close family and friends who are gay though. I’ve found a lot of the content on this thread which - from the title at least - you’d expect to be supportive for/to LGBTQ+ fans - a rather odd, if not troubling read.

I think you need to be more specific. "a lot of the content" makes it difficult to understand what you're saying.

I’d also like to know which specific posts. There have been some bold accusations with some content labelled as troubling and depressing so it would be interesting to see which posts these were as well as understanding why they’d cause such a strong reaction

I think you’re being slightly sensitive. I’m being respectful when saying this but maybe you spend your time in an environment which is more sensitive in respect of these matters. 

People are frustrated with institutions such as SFC which over prioritise certain groups and ask them to represent the fans. It’s fine for certain groups to represent fans but it should be on a proportionate basis. Some of the comments may not be to your liking but to say that some of the reading is troubling is wide of the mark, in my opinion.

The point I took from some of the posts was how representative of the actual support is FAB? If there are people on the FAB representing some groups, and not others, why those groups, and not others? is there a disproportionate impact on decision making/ initiatives?

Now, for all I know FAB don't actually represent specific groups, despite what the bios for some suggest. It could be that FAB are pretty toothless and/or this is just a random selection of those who were interested. There's also no reason why Initiatives supporting some groups wouldn't benefit the wider fanbase.

I don't particularly like a lot of the content on this thread, but I wouldn't label it homophobic.

At the end of the day, it's a forum, and we all find some posts/ content/threads/posters/etc disagreeable, that's the nature of the beast. 

It's not difficult to avoid the thread if you want to.

I wasn’t going to bother but since you (and others) have asked these are posts I felt overstepped. I haven’t bothered looking at earlier pages (other than the first page - referenced below), but I’d wager there’s similar stuff there. It’s as much - maybe more - about the ‘punching down’ tone as it is the words. Haven’t assigned quotes either as you’ll see who said what if you look back. No doubt I’ll be branded a snowflake for not appreciating the ‘bantz’. I’d imagine though, any LGBT fan reading through this thread wouldn’t find it particularly welcoming… but the mods clearly don’t see a problem with it, so hey ho…

I guess it comes down to whether we want to have threads that LGBT allies shouldn't come into because there is homophobic content in them, or whether we want that stuff removed.  

I've made a couple of reports on here for the really horrific stuff, one of which was dead body pictures on the terrorist attack thread, and the moderators added a trigger warning to the thread title.

Maybe we should do the same one for this one, (may contain homophobic and/or transphobic views), or move it to the Muppet board. A lot of people don't want to see "banter" that pokes fun at LGBT people, or homophobic jokes about our own fan representatives, on a site supposedly for all saints fans.
