Pamplemousse Posted June 1 Posted June 1 Strong rumours he's going to Cardiff Looks like he's bottling a return to St Mary's
Midfield_General Posted June 1 Posted June 1 (edited) 32 minutes ago, Pamplemousse said: Strong rumours he's going to Cardiff Looks like he's bottling a return to St Mary's If he walked out on Charlton, having finally found a fanbase that doesn't hate him and where he's actually started to deliver some success, to take the Cardiff job, back in the third tier and under a volatile owner, it would be the most Nathan Jones thing imaginable. Even more so if he then bollocksed it up and got sacked six months later. Edited June 1 by Midfield_General 3

Nathan Jones - "I grew up in the Rhondda valley where all my mates were Cardiff fans. I had the chance to sign for Bristol City or Cardiff and I signed for Cardiff. I worked on the turnstiles when I was an apprentice and then rushed and watched all the games. I love Cardiff City."

Are you trying to be clever? Taking a quote doesn't mean anything, but here's what he said after his team's play-off win: “We’ve given it to a club that was going backwards and we had to arrest that before we could take it forward. “It’s not just the results that have got us to the Championship, it’s the way we’ve done it. How we built and galvanised the football club and got everyone back to believing that Charlton can be a great club again. Because it is a great club with great people throughout. ... “Great club. I came here wanting to build something. I took a gamble. I dropped two divisions, my last job was in the Premier League. “But I knew I could build something. This is the first step. Now, we kick on. “It’s outstanding. We put the work in. The staff put the work in. Players buy into gameplans and sacrifice everything. “Families, everyone makes sacrifices; this is the reward.”

Midfield_General Posted June 6 Posted June 6 (edited) Because he made a few suggestive, non-committal comments in the press to get them nervous that as a lifelong Cardiff fan he might be considering it, presumably to use as leverage in negotiations for a new, five-year contract. Very few managers get offered five years, so he's played a blinder, to be fair. Edited June 6 by Midfield_General 2
Dusic Posted June 6 Posted June 6 Nice show of faith from Charlton in a manager who selflessly dropped two divisions to bring them back towards where they belong. From the Rhonda Valley to the Addicks Valley - good things happen to good believers.
Holmes_and_Watson Posted June 6 Posted June 6 A good week for our failed managers Juric to Atalanta, Martin to Rangers and Nate getting a bumper new contract.

His form matches that of his time with us. His zealotry results in him burning heretics on pyres of broken ping pong tables He takes his squad hostage because they went shopping with their wives He chews his fingers off on live TV He chews other people's fingers off on live TV Switches jobs with Michael Sheen to star in "Pound for Pound:The best there is and other things all about me." 1

The fans love him, they don't have much money, and at this level his football is effective - They should be favourites to come 24th, but i suspect he'll keep them in the mix and wouldn't be surprised if he kept them up. He was still an awful manager for saints, and his PR side is shocking for any club that has the media exposure of being in and around the top of the championship and premier league. 1
