The RNLI has always been held in high esteem and rightly so. I have nothing but admiration for those who volunteer to go out in all weathers, leaving their homes and families behind to save those in peril at sea.

I struggle to even begin to understand those who consider the RNLI men and women as traitors. The sole purpose of this vital organisation is to Save Lives At Sea, irrespective of who those lives may be.

Successive Governments have allowed the immigration situation to get to this point but when some people's mindsets have descended so far down the sewer as to verbally abuse and threaten the RNLI then we really are in trouble.

This. It is hard to get the mindset of people who think these guys are traitors. Volunteering to risk your life to save others is literally the opposite to being a traitor, they can't pick and choose who they save and nor should they.

There really are some special cunts around nowadays.

Face coverings should be banned everywhere. Full stop.

That should work really well in places like hospitals.  Let's make sure the surgeons spread their germs whilst operating eh?  We should ban gas masks whilst we're at it to.  Also respirators for firefighters and people working in dusty environments.  So many reasons why those pesky face coverings should be b-anned.  Full stop.

There is no point in generalisations, I only call people thick racist fascist cunts if they really deserve it.

Maybe I can help.

it’s because they’re helping to bring in large quantities of people into the country which (an in on own amount) later go on to steal/murder/rape

“just following orders” has never been a credible defence. It didn’t work for previous totalitarian regimes and it won’t work here.

When people start comparing sectors, and generalising, you know the evolutionary barrel is being scraped.

Hard for Ossie to imagine, but the public sector has millions of people who fix infrastructure and do identical work to the trades. Similar work to what BT Openreach did in our street this week who are private sector. Nobody cares about the labels as long as the work’s good quality and they get paid on time.

When I worked in the brewing industry, we used spreadsheets for everything to profit and loss, to computers with sensors on the brewing kit to ensure consistency, to tracking dray deliveries in the region.

We held meetings too. And managers, team leaders, Directors and CEOs meet their staff regularly to review progress v objectives in all sectors. Same for Oracle in Reading say, Hampshire CC, Southampton FC, national charities (a huge economic sector he seems to have zero awareness of) etc.

Fair point. I wasn't including those who wear face coverings for theirs and others safety. It was more about those who wear them to intimidate, protest and commit crime.

Your post just shows me that you don’t fundamentally understand markets, incentives or the macro economy.

It’s blindingly obvious that public sector companies are run terribly and run up insane costs that would never happen in the private sector to anyone that knows what they’re talking about.

I’m not denigrating the hard working people that do the work. In fact, they have my utmost respect. My disdain is for the middle management class, the bureaucracy that ramps up costs, means nothing gets done, and sucks up all the money into its coffers and directs it away from those people doing the real work.

They are not "following orders", they are doing their ( unpaid ) jobs - saving people from drowning. They don't ask for ID before acting, they just risk their own lives to save others.

If you want to aim you ire at people "bringing" these migrsnts into the UK, do so at Border Force - less than 6% of people crossing the Channel are picked up by the RNLI, who then pass them on to the authorities as they are landed, over 90% are landed by BF. Or possibly at the French, who escort them out to the edge of their territorial waters.

I suppose you would be happier just letting these people drown.

I totally understand the bit about saving lives at sea, but I thought the boats were in French territorial waters, one had broken down outside Calais? and the RNLI went and towed them to the UK. I thought when rescued at sea you are taken back to the port where you left. So of course save these people but they should be taken back to the port where they left, IF that is indeed the maritime law.

It has been reported that several French vessels escorted the dinghy into UK waters, inluding a French lifeboat that handed out life jackets.

I feel this is what inflames people. Then the RNLI get the brunt of it.

We pay vast sums to the French for them to assist us.

For those that seem to have no arguments other than throwing insults, I have a question.

Do you think we are getting value for money in the current system?

If you want to blame someone for the unlawful immigration attempts blame those who spent decades destabilising and interfering in Africa and the Middle East.

Nah, fuck it. Blame the RNLI.

G4S, Thames Water (and pretty much all other water companies), Carillion collapse, all privatised rail companies, Community Rehabilitation Companies, Fujitsu NHS patient database, Interserve, Serco (electronic tagging and test and trace in COVID),  Capita and army recruitment, ATOS and work capability assessments.

Yeah private companies don't fuck up at all do they?

You really think you’re proving a point here by posting a list of companies renowned for being publicly funded? 😂😂

I listed private companies that have fucked up in the public sector.  I could list private companies that have fucked up in the private sector but that would take too long.

To be fair,  the line between private and public sector has been blurred massively in this country now and the only losers are the taxpayers.

Under what authority?

Pretty sure the navy won't be forcing non military vessels out of our waters without authority.

I don't necessarily disagree with the second point, but regardless, the RNLI are not to blame.

Once you cross the pond and have to deal first hand with Donnie you will fondly look back on the current situation in the Channel.

The French are just getting their revenge for us nicking their Indian colonies, abandoning them at Dunkirk ( although over 100 thousand French troops were evacuated ), the attack on their fleet at Mers-el-Kebir, Waterloo, Trafalgar, Quibeton Bay, the Nile, the Peninsular campaign, Agincourt, Poitiers, Crecy, Malplaquet, Ramillies, Blenheim, Oudenaarde, etc, etc, etc.
