We are all uncomfortably numb

Resigned to apathy, indifference towards

football that was excitement and passion for some

but now the faceless corporate vision has won

 

Our goal is no goal

Our mission is to mismanage

Abandon and abort

by a Republic of Sport

 

Sport it is not 

Fun it is not

There are many things it aint

Will I forever be a Saint  ?

 

Do not assume that being a fan

Is forever loyalty in this day and age

We could become like you and become

Totally and utterly comfortably numb

And I had such High Hopes for this season - however we spent so much Time in the Summer neglecting to spend the Money we should have. It's sad, because it's now become a situation of Us and Them with Sports Republic - and Echoes of past ownership problems. One of These Days maybe...

At least with Saints Women, we may get a chance to See Emily Play.

I feel the same. Been through bad times before but I certainly feel a big disconnect from the club. Run by owners with no club connection, players who have no club connection and some with poor attitudes who will leave at the end of the season despite embarrassing performances for a whole season - rewarded for incompetence. To me this is the all time low and worse than league one relegation in 00s. I can recall a season where I’ve felt happy with defeats by one or two goals, rather than 5. Apathy is rife

It's football right? It's always had it's ups and downs. 

We're not the only ones being led by clowns

but brighter times will find their way

Took my kids (12 and 7) to see Aussie Pink Floyd in October - they loved it! I've still not seen any "cover" band that are as professional as them.

I have seen Roger Waters and Dave Gilmour in concert several times over the last 15 years or so. Perhaps the most memorable was at The O2 in 2011 when RW was doing his 'Wall' tour. When Comfortably Numb started the spotlight focused on the guitarist standing on the wall and after a few seconds, everyone realise that it was actually DG! The performance was quite extraordinary as you might expect, but even more so as no-one had the faintest idea that it was going to happen. DG only played that song, but it turned out that Nick Mason was also in the audience that night and RW called him up on stage when the band took their bow. Despite their mutual animosity, apparently Waters & Gilmour had agreed to do each other a favour for some reason (I've no idea what).

If anyone likes the early (pre Dark Side of The Moon) Floyd material, Nick Mason's Saucerful of Secrets are absolutely brilliant live - they include Guy Pratt & Gary Kemp.

So I took my wife (who thanked me afterwards 🤣) to see RW at Hyde Park - utterly incredible, and as an under 40 Floyd fan I never had the chance to see them as a proper band (even the later Gilmour, Wright, Mason incarnation) so this was pretty much the best opportunity I was going to get.

Oddly enough I only became a fan after skiving off from Brock College in 2001, fucking off to Lymington and buying a ratty copy of DSOTM on vinyl from a charity shop - became utterly hooked and they are by far my favourite band (although that got me into a rabbit hole and Rush and King Crimson do push them a bit).

Sadly I never got to see any of those package tours and missed The Nice first time round but Keith Emerson took them back on the road with his own band in 2003 which made up for it. Package tours of top artists for a few shillings, free outdoors concerts featuring the top bands…we shall never see those times again.

You are right. Artists that relied on talent not Autotune! I remember seeing the Who on a package tour at the Gaumont (Mayflower) and we bumped into Keith Moon and John Entwhistle in the queue in the tiny, greasy chip shop that used to be a few doors up from the theatre, and had a chat with them. Also remember seeing the Rolling Stones there when they were supported by Ike and Tina Turner with the Ikettes.....who almost blew the Stones off the stage!
