Costa hasn't been owned by Whitbread since 2018. Coke bought it. I was one of the consultants in charge of the split.

Quite an interesting one actually, Whitbread had a market value of around £4bn which was way too low, so they hastily decoupled and split Costa into its own company to sell to Coca Cola, for around £4bn. The Whitbread share price stayed the same, valuing the company at, £4bn.

I think he meant it wasn't riveted together but welded !

He was a machinist in the docks , Dad worked on diesel engine boats in the war including one of the D day command boats , he and fellow engine mechanics were allowed up to see the operation room with a scale 3D model of one section of the Normandy beaches .

The mainstream lines, like the company that owns the coffee brand (and has a concession on their ships) tend to visit Flam, Olden, Helsyllt in the Fjords and add on a couple of sea towns like Haugesund, Kristiansand, Stavanger to make up the cruise length.

Still nice to sail along a Fjord sat on a balcony with a nice cup of Costa.

I can recommend that. My wife and I went several times on big ships which is the  best way to see the fjords and since I lost her I've been a couple of times on the Hurtigruten Coastal Express which is different but very rewarding.

No I didn't.  I think they went over £50 at one point. In the past few years I bought another 100 shares at about £11 but as you say they dribbled down and when they had recovered to £13.50 I sold them. I still have my original holding which have  probably given me a few thousand pounds of onboard credit initially with P&O but for the last few years with Princess. I jumped ship when P&O upset me.

Coving was a big challenge.  I think Carnival took out a $60bn dollar loan facility to see us through. The dividends were useful too but there has been no sign of those for several years.

FO and Hurtigruten go there, I think Ambassador do as well - not sure about NCL, but the main ones from Southampton, P&O, MSC, Princess, Carnival only do shorter 7 day cruises.
