What an incredible performance yesterday (the first half was just amazing) Tonda is doing such a great job 😊 He used the two week international break perfectly to set us up. A mixture of aggression, pace, movement and clinical finishing meant we won big. All our goals were class. Adam Armstrong and Leo were sensational 😊Azaz and Fellows were great 😊 Bragg and Jander outstanding 😊 Manning's header from Fellows cross was so good 😊 one wing back cross to another. COYR 😊

That’s a good point you make. Really sounds like what in the 70’s was referred to as “Total Football”. Tonda style.

Yes, and I'd add THB just for the long-range pass out of defence to set up Caspar Jander's goal. It was inch-perfect for AA.

Manning got underneath it and nearly put it over the bar. Still, it went in and that is all that matters.

Bot sure why you find that funny nic? He had a large area of the goal to aim at and managed to clip the underside of the crossbar.

Having watched the highlights, it seems Armstrong was key to this performance/result. Dropping deep, receiving it and putting the ball through for the other forwards to run onto. Was quite sublime to watch, must've been awesome live. Like a knife through butter. Makes you wonder why the actual fuck we haven't been doing it the rest of the season! It's not like Charlton are total shite either, but we made them look like cunts. Makes a change from us looking like that I guess.

The only other games I remember us scoring away at this rate were Wolves away (won 6-2) in 1976, and Carlisle (6-0) in 1977.

Haven’t been able to see the HT scores on either but don’t recall us scoring 5 in the first half.

When I saw the half-time score I assumed it was 5-1 to Charlton. It took a few seconds to sink in that it was the other way round.

I find this interesting too, seems hard to reconcile with the David Brent-esque hungry eyes thing. But I also thought "hungry eyes" to the tune of "hungry heart" could be a funny song.

Tonda watch, I was sat about three seats away from our dugout on Sat and thought he was very impressive. Not hugely demonstrative but massive concentration and clearly a bit of a perfectionist. Constantly encouraging and applauding our good play, making tweaks to the alignment of the back three and middle four. Seemed to want us to pass with a purpose, play out of tight areas and then get it forward quickly. A couple of times when we overplayed at the back you could see his frustration. He clearly loved the goals (!) inwardly rather than with a massive knee slide to the corner flag. I couldn’t see into the dugout bet he didn’t seem to spend much time pissing around with an iPad, stood on the touch line, read the game, and made the tweaks he needed. Subs unfussy and all pretty much spot on. Good rapport with the players as they came off and celebrated with the staff at the end.

I would say he looked very comfortable in the role, players and staff responding to his methods, but very business like. To me he knows he just needs to give this his best shot, there are harder games to come, Tuesday evening for his next one, but he’s certainly giving himself a chance.
