Wiggles31 Posted 21 hours ago Posted 21 hours ago With a new formation and potentially a new striker in the team, what’s your prediction in the make or break run; Watford (H) draw Leicester (A) draw Charlton (H) win QPR (H) win Sheff Weds (A) win 11 points from 15.

Baird of the land Posted 21 hours ago Posted 21 hours ago I saw that run of fixtures and thought of the exciting possibilities. so obviously we’ll probably fall flat on our face and lose/draw most.
Football Special Posted 20 hours ago Posted 20 hours ago It's a nice run of fixtures if Saints can get some momentum going, but who knows with us. Sheffield Wednesday away end of the month should be a good trip, they're doing us cheap tickets , looking forward to that one https://www.southamptonfc.com/en/sheffield-wednesday-vs-southampton-2526 2
woodsaint1 Posted 19 hours ago Posted 19 hours ago We need at least 10 from 15 to keep us in the playoff hunt

My last visit to the ground was in 2007(?) when we conceded a last minute goal scored by their 'keeper.
badgerx16 Posted 17 hours ago Posted 17 hours ago Watford have taken 2 points from their last 4 games, if we are seeking the playoffs we really have to beat them at St Marys. 2
badgerx16 Posted 17 hours ago Posted 17 hours ago In the last ten seasons the points total for 6th place has been; 68 73 69 75 77 70 74 75 80 74 an average of over 75 points. To reach that we need 35 more points from 16 games, probably therefore 11 wins. To even match Bristol City's 68 points last season we would need 28, most likely needing to win at least half of the remaining matches whilst losing no more than 4. 3

Colinjb Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago I'm saying 7 points. We have the potential to do more, but, such is our season.

Another way of analysing that list is that the average over the last 6 years is 72. Still would mean 10 wins and 2 draws from 16 games. Highly unlikely given our performances over the season, but not impossible As Badger says, it's the hope that kills you

benjii Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago If we're serious play off contenders it needs to be 10 points minimum, but ideally 12+

So we need to go on an astonishing run which I don't think we are capable of. Let's say we win the next 3 in a row - making us 5 wins out of 6, pretty stonking form. Even if we do that, we still won't be top 6. We'd be top 10 but not top 6. So we'd need another run of amazing form on top of that. There were a lot of draws in the Russell Martin unbeaten run, we would need to better that this year. Straight wins is what we need. 4

I like to think such “was” our season, 4 at the back, Peretz in goal, Bree back from loan, Charles back from injury, Ross back from injury, Tonda being more pragmatic, seven points from nine. Maybe sign a striker?? im a bit more optimistic at the moment. 1
die Mannyschaft Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Watford (H) draw Leicester (A) win Charlton (H) win QPR (H) win Sheff Weds (A) win 13 points from 15. Based on tactics and formation not changing too much and at least a striker in window. Should be winning home games for 6th place so we need to get a run going. All these games are winnable and we won't get a better run of games.
die Mannyschaft Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Watford's defending on highlights looked useless let's hope its the same next week
Dr Who? Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago In the championship it does not seem to matter who you are playing, the results are just random. I think it seems to go with who is on a good run at that time, and is the run going to end and go on a crap run now! All season there have been teams that had good runs and are now crap or indifferent and are next opposition are the ones that went on a good run and are now not looking as good. Now - Derby and they will turn indifferent again soon. The teams that have done this are below. Charlton, Stoke, Preston, Saints, Blackburn, QPR, Bristol City, and the above. If we are on the purple patch we should win the next couple of games, maybe 3 and then lose a couple and draw one. So for this reason I am going to go 7 points. Win, win, lose, lose, draw. But surely that would be mad, as my head says Win, draw, win, draw, win - 11 points. 🤷🏽

Football Special Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago We could possibly relegate Sheffield Wednesday in that game as well, sad state of affairs up there
macca155 Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago We need Champions league form now but .... in this league once you hit a winning streak it tends to run on for a while. Coventry, Boro, and Ipswich have shown that Despite our jitters the team remains a force to be reckoned with, and Tonda seems to be learning fast. I can easily see Saints going on one of those runs, equally they could fall flat who knows. What we do know is that finally the formation seems to have been sorted, and players who have not been performing have been dropped. That in itself makes for a more cohesive team. A decent signing by Monday and it's game on. So with that in mind I'm going optimistic on this one Watford (H) win Leicester (A) draw Charlton (H) win QPR (H) win Sheff Weds (A) win 13 points from 15. The QPR game is the big one. By then teams will have worked out how to nullify our new tactics. That will be Tonda's big test.
