Will be really pissed off if he puts out all the youngsters and then our League form takes a dive. That would be a wasted opportunity. Once minute they're producing the 50th anniversary shirts promoting the Cup and the next they put out a weakened team like for Leicester. Doesn't make sense. I'm a huge fan of the FA Cup and it still narks me us losing the game at Sunderland when Poch rested players (all be it not quite as many as I first thought), so I'd always want to see us pick our strongest side, even if we are in the championship. It's not that long ago that Cardiff made the final and Millwall before them. We've seen Wigan win it and get relegated, so there is always aa glimmer of hope despite the big boys dominating in the last decade. The counter will be, at this moment in time, promotion is still on and therefore you have to really consider the league game three days later. Can professionals play to their maximum with that recovery time? I have no idea. Play your best side, lose a couple through injury and you really regret it. But fearing the worst is not the way to live. For me, picking a mishmash of some first team and some reserves is not ideal. You want continuity. We have some depth in midfield, but I'd prefer we kept the back four the same. Selection up front will be dictated by Stewart's fitness. 8
Saint86 Posted Tuesday at 13:46 Posted Tuesday at 13:46 (edited) Whilst Fulham have an outside chance of getting into the european spaces, the reality is that their season is over aside from the cup... You'd therefore expect them to go all in on a cup run this season. For us, promotion via the playoffs is our cup final, and we are unlikely to win the cup anyway... so the expectation is that we will rotate. Even though this will be largely unpalatable to many of the fans. We also have Eckert as manager, and as good as we are doing post the switch to a back 4... he's still very inexperienced and walks into every pitfall trap with his eyes wide open. I would therefore expect this to be a dead rubber from our side, with eckert fielding a grossly under strength side, and Fulham knowing it and winning easily (provided they actually raise their game - rather than do what we did vs wedensday). Possibly pissing off the fans and damaging our momentum as well... Sorry to be so bleak. If it were me, i would go for it and try to do something special - Promotion through the league is still a long way off (even if we believe we can do it) and a cup run and some upsets may well set us up for better next year (like the JPT, and like 76 as well). "walking into pitfall traps with eyes open" - what are you talking about here? Not sure losing to Fulham would "damage our momentum". They are a different level to us right now. I think if we play well, you can take something from the game no matter what he result. I agree fans will be pissed off if the side is weakened, and we lose. You want to see us go for it. However, I think its more annoying to play a weakened team in the cup when you are a PL side. That is when you have you best team and best chance, so that's when you should really go for it.
benjii Posted Tuesday at 14:34 Posted Tuesday at 14:34 Think I'd go with: Macca (if fit, otherwise Peretz) Jelert THB Stevo Manning -----Downes--Charles-- Fellows---Azaz---Scienza -----------Larin------------ Keep the back 4 together but give Bree a rest / chance to look at Jelert. Don't want to make wholesale changes there and potentially get hammered. Downes to play, but not to start midweek, as a yellow card then will see him miss the Cov match. Scienza to come off around 60, as per. Fellows to see if he can respond to being dropped. Larin to protect Stewart. 1

Barton Saint Posted Tuesday at 16:03 Posted Tuesday at 16:03 Tickets arrived today 8 Bells here we come! Roll on Super Sunday!
Jack Posted Tuesday at 18:14 Posted Tuesday at 18:14 Full strength, fucking go for it. We’re not ready to be promoted and it’s a long shot anyway. Don’t want us rolling over for anyone, let alone a club that has a ‘neutral end’, no matter how good their squad is these days 3

die Mannyschaft Posted yesterday at 07:17 Posted yesterday at 07:17 Same squad as last few games otherwise pointless playing the match at all. Teams should be banned by fielding weak teams from next season. If you cant be bothered to win and throw the games 3 points deducted

If you cant be bothered to win and throw the games 3 points deducted Maybe the football authorities should be banned from having mid week league games before and after cup rounds, there would be a better chance of full strength teams being fielded then. And on another subject maybe only the Premier League should have International breaks to avoid the amount of mid week matches in the Championship, I know that many teams would lose players, like we would, but so be it. You'd of thought they (Fulham) would have enough experience of selling FA Cup tickets by now to know where they stood in the sales curve and the likelihood of them selling out and needing that 1100 tickets for home fans. I guess it can be a sensitive subject - if blocks are empty in the away end when home end is sold out, questions start to be asked by home supporters. This doesn't sound like one of the situations though. I suspect Saints don't want to get left holding lots tickets they cant sell, so this staggered approach is perhaps fine by them too. P1 and P2 still not being sold to home fans. Anyone heard anything about Saints getting these blocks? Not looking likely now if it's paper tickets for away fans.
saintstowin Posted 21 hours ago Posted 21 hours ago Like you say I think they've left it too late and/or already made the decision not to sell to Saints fans. Maybe there'll be a late announcement but logistically looks unlikely. I guess Fulham decided not to bother, based on their sales, and we either didn't get access to them or made the call ourselves not to buy them all up. I'm sure we could have sold 1000 more. Hopefully a late surprise. I'm sure the ticket office would give you a final answer.

Pamplemousse Posted 20 hours ago Posted 20 hours ago Maybe Fulham told us we had to buy the whole block of tickets in advance and we declined. 1

It kind of sums up the ridiculousness of the whole situation, empty seats with willing customers waiting to pay for them and instead ticket office managers faffing about and they get left empty. Fulham really is the easiest club to just go in the home end for so there is that option, I've done it a few times, just wear a cravat and carry a cheese board to merge in with the locals 3

Football Special Posted 15 hours ago Posted 15 hours ago Fulham make a few changes for their Premier league game with the Hammers tonight. Obviously got one eye on Sunday. Harry Wilson, who I'd say is their best player, out of the squad completely, would be nice if he's not available

Vancouver Saint Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago Another bloody mid-day kick off - really not worth getting up at 4.00 am in the morning for - is there really no consideration for us Saints fans in the Pacific Time zone? - come on Football Association sort yourselves out! Oh and I'm pretty sure we'll go hybrid...semi rotation to give players a run-out with some first teamers on the bench to try to pull back a 2-0 deficit with half an hour to play. But knowing I'm not watching it, let's call it now - a 4-3 thriller with us coming back from 3-0 down in the first half to win in the sixth minute of extra time. Call me lightning. 1
