Well the players have to 'Do it for Flynn and Ryan'

Interesting no retrospective for Gabriel

At least he'll be back for the play offs.  For me, the last 2 league games are only about whether we finish 4th or 5th.  In other words, do we play Boro away or home first

Downes suspended for 3 games. Massive miss for this game and the two remaining league games. Bollox!

You're fucking kidding me? As someone else has said, nothing for Gabriel who went for a headbutt but Flynn grabbing someone by the shirt and wrestling with them a little deserves a three match ban.

Team without Downes

Peretz

Bree Stephens/Wood THB Wellington

Jander Bragg

Matsuki Azaz Scienza

Larin

I think he'll play Charles or Bragg.

Fellows will start and I think Stewart will as well.

Fellows and Stewart over Matsuki and Larin. I imagine we'll be looking to play out wide and relying on THB's long pings to Fellows.

Leading with elbow, not handbags

Has anyone got the video of the incident. Curious as i don't remember thinking there was anything too bad in the original challenge to be worthy of a retrospective red card.

It's on the Flynn Downes thread.

Yeah I obviously missed that watching the game live, only saw the afters. Still though seems corrupt as fuck to ban him for something unintentional but not Gabriel who clearly intended to headbutt Haaland.

They obviously decided it was intentional otherwise he wouldn't have been charged and banned.

Isn't there some archaic rule that they can only punish after the fact if the ref didn't see it? Presumably the ref didn't include it in his match report.

The difference being that Gabriel was booked as the referee saw the incident at the time and acted accordingly. A yellow was very lenient but that’s what he gave. Downes elbow was clearly not seen at the time, which is why he has a retrospective ban.

It doesn’t seem fair on the face of it but them’s the rules.

Ticket acquired, Boxpark Ticket acquired, route in sorted, now just need to decide what to wear seeing as I only have home kits and nothing yellow in my wardrobe! I my be travelling alone but I'm getting excited for this one. Yes we'll probably not win but I'm going to make the most of the atmosphere and hey, if we do miraculously win I will be cancelling my Sunday plans with the family to go sodding mental.

Now to go out and buy something yellow...

so no Manning, no Downes and Captain Jack 50/50 at best. The thought of Nathan Wood against City terrifies me!

Me too.

We beat Arsenal without him….

While Downes missing is a major blow the one consolation is it is the position where we have the best options as cover with 2 out of Jander, Charles and Bragg to start. Hell you could even throw Romeu in as cover for the cover 😂

Downes has been cruising for this for a while. He needs to learn some self control. That was a red every day, the yellow was very lenient.

3 games that don't matter that much, shame for him but he'll be fit for the play offs, which are the key games.

Jander, Bragg, and Charles can cover defensive midfield duties and errr Romeu.

I was going to post this but you beat me to it. Had we lost Peretz it would have been way worse. Maybe even Breezy or Leo. Even Welington is decent cover for Manning.

I know that having not played for ages counts against him, but would Quarshie be a better match-up vs Haaland?

I get where you're coming from but I can't see Tonda selecting Quarshie with no recent games under his belt.

Tonda was adamant in today's press conference that it wasn't intentional. I imagine we'd have appealed the decision if it was earlier in the season, but I guess we feared the impact of the "we know better than you" geniuses at the FA doubling-down on their decision would have on the play-offs. Maybe the first sign we've had that the club consider promotion more important than winning the cup...?

Yep, likewise. He hasn't even been on the bench of late, has he? (Which maybe seems a tad odd in itself, given Tonda has been extolling the virtues of squad rotation in recent times)

The answer is no! I'm not going to imagine any such thing.

Still no!

Thankfully we've now got a keeper who is capable of MOTM performances as well.

We wouldn’t have got to the semi final if Baz was in goal!

Can't seem to find the press conference. Where did you see it?
