Willo of Whiteley Posted 19 hours ago Posted 19 hours ago Scrappy 2-0, not clean, not pretty - but similar to Oxford, try and kill the game off early and then limit their attack after that.
Convict Colony Posted 19 hours ago Posted 19 hours ago guys I think I actually might have a life cos everytime there is another match jm like "fucking hell another already". Anyway we are certified ballers and we will score as easily as a man in the queue for bonny blue. 3-0 1

As I highly doubt Blackburn will bring more than 500 or so. Should have offered some deals on tickets for this. No way should it be a category A fixture and with people having to pick and choose I'm not surprised that this one is being swerved. I don't see the big deal anyway personally. The midweek games with smaller crowds have largely had better atmospheres this season. I agree often those night games with 5k less people actually make a better atmosphere, Blackburn have only sold block 22 it will be less than 200 of them , trying to think when we last had such a small away following visit?

Players who turned out for Melchester Rovers in my youth are hard to remember but Tubby Morton (GK), Blackie Gray (IR), who was Roy Race's best mate, Roy the goal scoring hero at Centre Forward and the first foreign import, right winger Pierre Dupont, now playing for MAGA Utd in America.🤪 stick in my mind. Limp along Leslie Tomson, inside right or centre forward for Darbury Rangers, do you remember him as well? The lad was a wizard of the dribble and fittingly strutted his stuff in The Wizard comic. He was also kept sheep on his farm in his spare time. This was before the £5 a week minimum wage came in and ruined football 1

Blimey, even given the long distance and late notice that's incredibly poor. MK Dons probably the last to bring such a small following.
LiberalCommunist Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago Both home wins tonight and its still on. Anything else and we just prepare for the play offs. No problem wanting Pompey to get all three, helps both ends of the table if you ask me.
Stripey McStripe Shirt Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago Pompey fans are going to be fucking weird and celebrate when they lose tonight. Bit like their famous West Brom loss all over again. Freaks. Got a banana skinny feeling about tonight. Hopefully I'm wrong, but all good things must come to an end. Personally I think play offs are out of reach (bar a miraculous run continuing from us...if we win them all, it's about 50/50 chance of autos imo) so would take a point. 1 1

It was certainly a bitch that Boro and Norwich fluffed their lines at the weekend.

This was before the £5 a week minimum wage came in and ruined football The Roy Race / Blackie Gray strike partnership was still going well into the 1990s I believe. Vic Guthrie, goalkeeper Charlie Carter and defensive hard man Duncan McKay also had pretty solid careers, plus of course Paco Diaz providing some continental flair on the wings. I had loads of Roy of the Rovers annuals but they all came from a car boot sale and were from the 70s, so even though I was reading them in 1986 I thought all players had long hair and flares and looked like the Bee Gees Edited 5 hours ago by Midfield_General 3
Charlie Wayman Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago (edited) Our steamroller will fill all those holes in Blackburn, Lancashire. 4-0* to Saints COYR *[there were 4000 holes to be exact, hence 4-000] Edited 31 minutes ago by Charlie Wayman 1

Perhaps you can't call anyone Tubby nowadays. 1

T Morton was indeed Melchester's original Goalkeeper. The character may have been modeled on William (Fatty)Foulke who played for Sheffield Utd, Chelsea and Bradford City between 1894 and 1908. Apparently he was around 24 stone at the end of his career. He died from cirrhosis of the liver at 42 years of age. 1

die Mannyschaft Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago Saints 2-0. Bit of a struggle v Derby but hopefully Blackburn will not park the bus and hack our players. Same players and same subs could be TE tactics again.

swedish dave Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago whilst we are playing (and hopefully) beating Blackburn, many will have their eyes on the game @Fratton Park. we would have to sdy that it's not often Saints' fans want Pompey to win, but after their last gasp winner against Boro ..could Pompey possibly do a repeat performance against Ipswich tonight? One can only hope.

With that in mind, I hope Ipswich smash them and help send them down 😅
saintant Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago This may not be an easy game. O'Neil is a very experienced manager and will set Blackburn up to nullify our attacking options and hope his side can nick a goal on the break or from a set play. Nothing we haven't faced before but he'll have them well drilled and organised. An early goal for us changes everything but they don't concede many. With our current form we should find a way to win the game. We'll need to be clinical when our chances come. Fingers crossed. 2
Jack Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago I really don’t care who wins at Fratton night. Ipswich drop points? Great, heaps the pressure on them to win a few. Pompey get battered? Great, send the fuckers down for another decade in League One 1
bangkoksaint Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago If the conundrum is Pompey win tonight and stay up which enables us to sneak into 2nd place then I hope Pompey are playing in the Championship next season 1

Zorba Posted 42 minutes ago Posted 42 minutes ago I’m hoping for an Ipswich loss, doesn’t matter to me who they’re playing. We still have to do the business ourselves. 1-0. COYS! 1

Miltonaggro Posted 10 minutes ago Posted 10 minutes ago It would be nice for the ref to realise that the Blackburn game plan will likely be to kick the shit out of us and hope to grab something on the counter, ahead of it happening. Then, when it does, a yellow or two early doors to calm things down so we have a chance of a football match. Regardless, reckon this will be 3-0 to Saints, and up to fourth place. Also think that the blue few will do a turn for us this evening and bring the auto gap down to a tantalising three or four points - resulting in a rapid three or four pints before closing in the SO14 postcode. COYR!
