Ipswich are the 4th biggest spenders in the league over the summer. Not that it guarantees results of course, but they're certainly backing the new manager.

We can't possibly have just this new bloke and Larin. I think Dobbin will be seen as the utility player all across the front 4 positions (or certainly 3 of them) tbh.

Saint_lambden Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Bragg has been offered a new contract. Blackburn want BBD. We want to sell but they can’t afford what we’re after at present (only a few million) so pushing for loan with option to buy. Edozie has interest from Rennes, Cardiff and a couple of Dutch teams. 6

Great news and thoroughly deserved.

Obviously a big caveat of Spors generally being decent with recruitment and making a few people - including me -look a bit silly last year. That approach doesn't exactly scream gunning for automatic promotion to me.

I think that this man city bloke and Larin are a solid pair of options but if you really want automatics we need something more as well as keeping Jander, THB and Scienza.

I believe we also need more goals from around the pitch. Leo, whilst brilliant does miss a few, and he faded towards the end of the season. Azaz contributes but Fellows was non-existent. Charles added a few massive moments that will require someone else to step up. Lets home a setting Fellows and co can chip in more goals/assists Dobbin should be good for a few goals Edited 48 minutes ago by AlexLaw76

If you want to really say confidently that we are at least as good as last year then we will have to keep archer or get a replacement as well. 1

Sheaf Saint Posted 13 minutes ago Author Posted 13 minutes ago 39 minutes ago, hypochondriac said: Does he have previous success playing as the focal point lone striker in our system? Because the Preston fans I saw suggested otherwise. Not that I know of. At youth level he mostly played in the 10 position with Ellis Simms ahead of him as the target man, and I know that's his preferred position. He might well be capable of doing a job in that role if called upon, but we shouldn't be relying on that as an option IMO.

saintant Posted 10 minutes ago Posted 10 minutes ago I get that we don't have pots of cash available for transfers but the next few weeks will tell us how serious the club is about going all out for an automatic spot. With a 4 point deficit it's going to be a stretch and we do need a decent striker to share the load with Larin plus a good replacement for Charles if we really want to go for it (assuming THB, Leo, and Jander stay). Regards the striker I think the lad on loan from City would be a good addition to the squad but, as others have said, we probably need another front man with some experience and a good track record at this level after losing Stewart. 2

Given he was known for poacher type goals plus his undoubted free-kick skills, you’d have to say he represents a decent Charles replacement for a season. If we don’t make it happen now it never will, but I’m easy either way tbh.
Chez Posted just now Posted just now The Saudi takeover of Derby seems to gave fallen through. Not sure if that helps or hinders any potential move for BBD. Funds will be more limited, so BBD maybe a realistic target when perhaps they would have aimed higher.
